Love this school ! Great educators and administration. My child is very independent and continues to learn every day due to the staff, parents, and students.

This school is operating as a Montessori school without Montessori credentialed teachers or full Montessori materials. Grossly mismanaged and more of a daycare than a school.

The school is warm, welcoming and follows a positive discipline principle, which I greatly appreciate. The school doesn't always follow the Montessori guidelines exactly, but teachers do allow students to become engrossed in topics that interest them and my son thrived under their care.

FCD is more of a daycare center than a Montessori School. Albeit they employ Montessori concepts and principles, they lack the level of engagement Dr. Montessori espoused for a more hands off liberal approach.

FCD functions like most daycare centers the provide a foundation to assist with developing a child's social skills. Key to that action is creating an environment where honesty, integrity and fairness are valued. FCD lacks in fairness only in its approach to conflict resolution where they place (what I believe it) too much responsibility on the toddlers to work their issues at the risk of more important safety issues. (a child hit another child and the provider (I dare not say teacher) comforted the child that was struck, but never addressed the offenders behavior...had the offender poked the kids eye out....)

Moving across country can bring about many stressors, and finding quality education for your child(ren) can rank at the very top. We looked at many schools in the region, however found most to just be overstated daycare centers. We settled on FCD after the director assured us that they were different and that programs they offered were in line with what our children were receiving at their prior school (yoga, music, and Spanish language) and specifically what we were looking for in a Montessori school. What our experience has been is that FCD is honestly just another overstated daycare center. While they offer Montessori instruction, that are far cry from what we would consider a “good school”. So let me offer the pros and cons for FCD…Pros: Nice facility, great play area, reasonably secure, TADPOLES for daily reports for the toddlers, caring and attentive teachers/providers. Cons: No national accreditation, no Spanish language, no Montessori instruction in the toddler class (Teacher quit at the beginning of the year and they’ve yet to replace..Note: no credit on tuition either, we paid for Montessori instruction and got a daycare provider, albeit a good one, yet not certified in Montessori instruction), No daily reports or feed back in the pre-k program, no board of trustees/directors/parents committee.
FCD has shown themselves to be a for-profit daycare (marketed as a true "school") center and they operate as such. Just look at their website and you will see it is simply a loosely managed template site with out of date information and broken links. Where a website certainly doesn’t make a school, it is indicative of the level of engagement and management you find at FCD.

If you want a decent daycare facility for your child...this is a good place and on par with most "kindercare" type facilities, however if you're looking for a good "school" (especially a good Montessori school), FCD doesn't make the grade.
