My children (ages 5 and 9 at the time) attended one session of summer camp here. They had been at many other camps and daycare settings before coming to NIST. I had heard good things from a former colleague who had both of her children there. So we decided to give it a try, which turned out to be a mistake. Our joyful and extroverted daughter was scared stiff of the staff, who yelled and screeched at the children. Our quiet, thoughtful son was bored, telling us that the activities for his age group were things he had done years ago. Our expectation was that the staff would treat our children with respect and kindness, two tenets we put first in our family. Sadly, such guiding philosophies were lacking at this facility. I cannot say I would recommend this center unless the philosophy of the center has changed.

A true disappointment. I exhausted much energy trying to get my child into this facility and after only a week I knew this was a huge disappointment. I had heard nothing but GREAT things about this school non of which were true. Pros: LARGE new facility, spacious, clean, hot lunch, breakfast, and snacks served. Cons: curriculum is lacking and not a challenge to any child at any level, admin staff is very disorganized and less than helpful, staff seem under-qualified and often rude to both child and parent, witnessed staff saying inappropriate things in front of parents/children multiple times. This is not a very supportive facility ie; don't aim for close relationship with families or individualize care for each child. Overall very disappointed and would not recommend.

We have had two children attend the NIST CCC for a combined period of 5 years and counting with no significant complaints and we have no hesistation in recommending the center to other parents. Most classrooms have ratios better than the state maximums, the center serves breakfast, hot (catered) lunch and snack, and the new facilities are spacious and well-appointed. The teachers manage the classes well with a good balance of creative play, arts and crafts and educational activities appropriate to each age level. Our children are always happy to be at school and have developed a strong connection to their teachers.

Our children, ages 2 and 4, currently attend NIST Child Care Center and they thoroughly enjoy going to 'SCHOOL'. The newly built child care center is state of the art and the playground is spacious and fun for the kids. The teachers are incredibly warm and nurturing which allows them to build strong working relationships with the children.

My 3 year old was not made welcomed and did not receive the nurturing care by certain staff members. The staff has been CARELESS at supervising any child. My child has had 3 incidents so far, one of which involved a huge bump on her head. I was told that no one saw it and that they would not speak to the other child who did it because they didn't see it or to that child's parents because that wasn't comfortable for them. Since my child does not talk in her class and was unable to tell her teachers or the director as to what happened to her. The director did not believe me when I told her that my child who I had video recorded told me who hit her across her face with a huge toy and the same child was bullying her. The director still refused to believe me and showed no concern towards my child. NIST staff operates by telling the parents they didn't see anything if an incident occurs at their facility because the child is too shy or scared to talk to them so no further investigation will be done on their part .Your better off spending your hard earned money on a QUALITY school where the staff actually cares about your child and does not look at your child as a paycheck or a number.
