I have recently transferred my daughter from a private school in Frederick to Windsor Knolls Middle school out of frustration from lack of advance grade level programs offered to students who are performing above grade level. My daughter entered 7th grade level in the middle of the school year and I was concerned about her transition to a bigger public school setting. The guidance counselor, Ms Meyers was very attentive and helpful with my daughter's transition to the public school environment. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the school's attention to the student academic needs. My daughter was assessed and placed in advance grade level subjects with out even having to discuss this concern with the teachers. My daughter is biracial ( Asian/African American) and she blended in effortlessly to a school with only 4% minority student population. My daughter made friends easily and the students she made friends with are much more mature and well behaved than the students at the private school. This is overall a great school and I highly recommend any parent to enroll their kids in this school and you would not be disappointed.

I have had two children at WKMS and we love it. It is safe, friendly and the teachers really care about the students. They have a focused gifted student program and prepared my son to do well in high school.

We have been so happy with WKMS in all areas. The academics have been appropriately challenging, the school atmosphere has been positive and all the teachers we have encountered so far engage with the kids so well and very obviously love what they do! Thank you!

This is a good school with a lot of after school programs and great friendly teacher and all in a good environment fcps school are number one ! And u learn soo much

WKMS has both pros and cons. Recently added a new "REACH Program." Great Art, Music and Drama depart. Biggest Con is within the past 2 years we have seen a decline on the amount of communication to parents from the school. BackPockets were issued weekly, now monthly with little to no information. Hardly any WKMS "Find out First's" for school info sent out, School website is out of date. PTSA website has been improving, but they are limited to what they can post. Activities get canceled due to low participation. If information is only passed to students on morning announcements and during lunch when they are distracted, of course they are not interested. School really needs to improve the communication and generate an interest/pride of their school. First school we have been at where PE uniform is essentially the only thing closest to spirit wear.
