I was denied accommodations for my 504 plan suck as extra time or a separate testing space by multiple teachers. Teachers made me feel that my anxiety disorder was my fault and did not accommodate my mental health struggles. I was bullied about my weight and when I reported it nothing was done.

Urbana High School is a strong public high school with high marks due to the opportunities it offers its students. My children have done well at the school. They are not athletes, but hard-working kids that focus on their classes. They did better in some areas than in others, but overall received a good-quality education. My oldest son is getting ready to graduate from a four-year university, and was well-equipped for college after his time at Urbana. My other child just took his SATs with the PREP course (offered at UHS). He has scored well enough to get into his preferred schools. We have tried to take advantage of the opportunities given - virtual college days, extra time with teachers or tutoring, and e-mails as needed to keep in touch with their teachers. The school is above and beyond many other public schools in Maryland. It is a diverse environment, offers AP, dual-enrollment, honors classes, athletics, arts programs and clubs. They also support the Frederick County Career & Technology Center. The strong parent involvement is reflected in the PTA, sports, theatre and Safe & Sane program. The school is not perfect, but I am glad that my kids are able to attend and have the experience that UHS offers.

This was a four star school in the past when my oldest child attended but sadly has has gone way downhill in the past few years. Several of the staff and teachers have developed a superiority complex that they use to belittle, bully, and intimidate students and even the parents. Inquiries and complaints get brushed off and the less interaction they have with other adults the better. This started with the elimination of Parent-Teacher conferences and things have deteriorated from there . The facility itself is nice but real leadership and accountability for honest problem solving is lacking. Don't get me wrong there are still plenty of good teachers and staff still there but the rotten apples are ruining the whole barrel.

This high school is one of the worst schools we have been in contact with. The administration never once welcomed us to the school. As a new family you would expect at least a 'welcome'. The counselors are the worst. Did not help my daughter throughout the high school experience or help with selections for college prep. Honestly, the school only cares about numbers associated with test scores. The bullying and lack of social interaction is non existent. The staff do not see or listen to students cries for help. The teachers are the only thing that keep this school in a high rating. The admin staff and counselors are terrible! Stay away from this school if you want clear guidance for college or guidance through high school at all.

The school has some good things but your student is just a number. My daughter was sick for ten days and the teachers didn't care about giving her some follow up to make sure she was catching up with the rest of her peers. I got an email the day before the end of the quarter indicating that she could fail. Is this really what will happen in a good school? I don't think so. Some teachers are good some others are just plain awful and unresponsive to emails or calls from parents.

High performing school system, from both an academic and athletic perspective. Two of our children completed the system and attended top colleges with high scholarships.

My three children are graduates of Urbana High School. They received the best education and cultural experience a school can offer. Urbana offers IB as well as AP courses which provide an excellent college preparatory program. The choice of courses and sports are many which lead to the students engaging in areas of their individual achievements. Urbana High is also the magnet school for all of Frederick County. I'm proud to say, "My kids are Hawks alumni".

Urbana offers an outstanding high school experience. The community atmosphere is top of the line. The entire town seems to be involved with all aspects of the school - academics, performing arts, and the sports programs. We moved to the Urbana school district 3 years ago based on the reputation and our expectations have not only been met, but have been surpassed!

The school is set up very similar to the college course. You take four 1.5hr classes per semester. It works great since the six or seven class teachers do not coordinate. The area is nice and the school teachers and administrators are almost annoying; however, this is being very detail with each child. We are new here and the School Teacher of the Year and location whatelse can I say.
