We moved to Myersville because of the schools. However, we ended up being disappointed by the quality of education. The students were educated to pursue blue color careers. The school is not focused on STEM in the era of AI.
In terms of diversity and inclusivity, Middletown High School caters to the town's existing longstanding families. New families are marginalized and may to feel like outsiders.
If your kid wants to be in the Athletic program. The middletown kids from long standing families in the town get selected without participating in tryouts.
The management in high school allows drugs and weapons to go undetected.
Racism is allowed and expressed openly.

No diversity and it goes beyond the students. Yes, Middletown is not particularly diverse but that doesn’t mean that the students should not be encouraged to learn about other races (besides White) or cultures (besides America) or be taught empathy for the working poor or understand the social or civil challenges of other groups. There should be more of an emphasis on STEM. Too much focus on agriculture and honestly that isn’t the future. There could also be more of an emphasis on foreign languages and the arts. It’s a very stereotypical cliquish HS and I don’t mean that in a good way.

Kids are horrible... as are the teachers. Teachers love to threaten students and abuse powers... Incompetent staff.

If you fit the status quo, then this is your school. It is not an inclusive school for all. Enough said

My son attends Middletown High School. He has special needs (ADHD) and an IEP. His counselor has been excellent. We went through COVID-19 and he will have to repeat a year, but his teachers and Counselor have been terrific. During Covid-19 and working from home, his Counselor inquired as to his mental health as well as his physical health and helping with school work! This is a farming community along with suburban lifestyle. There are commuters to Washington DC, Baltimore, MD and Hagerstown, MD. It is lacking in ethnic diversity, but that does not take away from the scholastic Excellence and peer relationships. Go Knights!

I would not recommend this school to anyone interested in moving here or enrolling their children. Middletown lacks diversity and open minds by both the students and staff members. The school isn't involved in the community at all and offers very little opportunities for students. Racism and homophobia rings in the hallways of the school though out the student population and leadership is ineffective at controlling students. The overwhelming white student population promotes racism and closed minds that is very conservative and against differences. The school leadership also houses a dangerous school environment. If you are moving to Frederick County I highly suggest enrolling your children in other schools then Middletown High School because the county has left Middletown in the past. It is a country, football high school that only serves white students aspiring to go into agriculture. FFA rules the high school and ropes students into blue collar jobs killing all of student's dreams. Sending your children here is giving them a future of hard manual, low-wage labor. The school cares not about the student well being, but instead to throw the uneducated students into the work force as fast as possible with the idea that the school is advanced. Middletown High lacks the diversity required to be a properly functioning high school in America in the twenty-first century.

I’d not recommend this for anyone. Bullying is a large problem in this school that seems to be ignored by any authority, and when it is acknowledged and actions are taken against it, it’s to punish both the victim(s) and the aggressor(s). There is much improvement that needs to be made here but with the increase of housing and neighbourhood construction in the area I seriously doubt that anything will change.
