The current score of 7, has to be reflective of the current administration. Communication from this administration is terrible and starts with the principal. The school has a web page it doesn't utilize for important announcements, rather insists on communication purely through Find Out First emails, which can flood your inbox. The administration allows themselves to be bullied by entitled parents which results in bad behavior by some students that negatively impacts those students that are actually interested in learning. Truly disappointing, when this school used to have a higher overall rating, and the nearby, east county middle schools are held in much higher regard, have better ratings and overall scores of 9-10. The elementary and high schools have solid 8 ratings while this school has allowed itself to dip from it's normal 8+ rating.

This is an excellent school. I've sent two kids through NMMS, and both excelled academically. The teachers, staff and administrators are caring and engaged, and they take bullying and other character issues very seriously. That helps make the transition to middle school much easier for kids.

This school is AWESOME! I'm a 7th grade student there and it is a fun and safe school to go to!!! We have VERY FUN spirit days! Such as wacky tacky day, costume day, hat day, sunglasses day, pajama day... And not only are these fun but we also pay one dollar each to help fundraise money for the destination imagination club! Im not in the club but it sounds cool.... This school is also a bully proof school! And i really like that about the school because when i was younger i was bullied and i didnt like going to school, the students effected my learning by giving me grief! There isnt any uniform , you can be unique and be yourself and show teachers and classmates who you really are they dont judge you if your fat , ugly, or have bad rep at your old school its like your getting another chance to start all over and meet new friends if your in 6th grade this year or if your going to be new to this school the only two things you need to know is that to watch out for mrs.auraundt ( she gets off topic ALL the time and shes a 6th grade honars LA teacher) and to DEFINETLY be YOURSELF!!!

My daughter just finished 6th grade at NMMS and has done very well here. She was in honors courses and enjoyed all her classes and teachers. Her assignments and projects were challenging and fun. On an academic level, this school is excellent. But there is a disturbing social element to this school. I'm sure it's common in all middle schools, but the bullying and "class warfare" in this school really took me by surprise. If you buy all your kid's clothes from Justice, Aeropostale, buy them $200 Ugg boots (and yes they look for the label) and $200+ Pandora bracelets, then your child will be accepted and happy at this school. If you can't afford these things or simply don't believe in it, then they will be ostracized by the others. My daughter is near the top of her class academically, but she deals with the bullying and gossip from her classmates every day. She has her other "outcast" friends and deals with it well, but she's asked me about changing schools. I don't know that it's different anywhere else, but just be prepared for this - my family was not.
