The schools entire administration board does nothing to support kids who were wronged. Many students and teacher were rude with no repercussions. I would not recommend sending your child here.

Neelsville is a social experiment. It's literally a guide to how to fend for yourself. The staff rarely cared—other than a few, such as Mr. Freeland, Madame Marks, Mrs. Rosano, Mr. Kelley, and Mr. Gilraldo. The communication between the school, parents, and students was very poor. (Ex. a field trip coming up, and didn't tell students or parents until 3-5 days before the trip). The safety in this school was also poor. There were guns, tasers, and other weapons brought onto school premises. Teachers didn't really care for the students, and students also didn't care about classes either. No one tried, and clubs and programs were never promoted, so chances were missed. Kids with special needs weren't really cared for; they were just left alone. The kids were terrible—fights all the time and bad treatment towards each other. My experience here absolutely sucked, and I hope no one sends their child here, ever.

In my experience, this middle school has the potential to be great but due to some of the staff not caring and student issues that were impossible to ignore, this school definitely has a long way to go. I think this school could do really well in the future with the new building and new administrators but some serious work with the students needs to be done. My experience at this school definitely wasn't the best but I do think it set me up well enough for high school. There are some really good facilities in this school such as the career readiness through the career coach but without enough publicity it often gets overlooked. Personally, I would not recommend this school if you had the option to choose but it's definitely not the worst option!

Neelsville Middle School is completely out of control and a prime example of the failing MCPS system. The school feels like a joke. Fights and altercations happen basically everyday and there are no real consequences for anything because all the teachers just don’t care. Students constantly skipping class because no punishments, doing dr*** & smoking in bathrooms, and constanly leave the building without anyone stopping them. There is seriously a lack of structure and supervision at this thing they call a school.. Many students having to transfer after 6th grade because they want a real education.. on top of it all the zoning situation makes it seem like more of a joke. None of the students are from or zoned the surrounding neigbourhoods that are a 1 min walk from the school.. almost all students are bused in from Montgomery village, Germantown, or rural areas like Boyds resulting in a chaotic student population and extremely long bus rides for no reason. Instead of a real community, it genuinely feels like some type of study or social experiment.. Overall, the school feels very unsafe and is very chaotic. It needs major changes in leadership, or just shut it down honestly… I would give this school 0 or negative stars if I could..

Okay so boom. This school is horrible ok, the teachers are rude and mean. They expect us to have no phone but during one of the drills they didn’t have enough space for us so we had to pack. One student had a gun in his backpack, thank God he didn’t use it, the only reason they found out was by a teacher seeing something in his backpack. The food there is horrible, 3.00 for school lunch, you must be joking. The teaching staff is also not great and I’m talking about Mr Furlong especially, he’s saying the bell doesn’t dismiss you i do, yesterday I missed the bus because my bus is the earliest to leave and I need to get to my locker, so not a great day for me. I do not recommend this school and we have fights every single day of school l. But in fact this school should shut down immediately, students are bullying each other constantly leading to the fights. In conclusion I do not recommend this school.

This school is a social experiment created by the Montgomery county board of education. All students are bussed. The makeup of the student body does not represent the population surrounding the school. In my own personal experience, there are 4 closer middle schools which make logical sense to attend by proximity. Applications for change of school (COSA) are aggressively fought by the board. In the end, students lose, traveling far from home on long bus rides for a below average education experience. Moreover, parents are given a travel barrier, due to distance from the school from home. Volunteering is very difficult. No one wins.

This school don’t know anything Teachers don’t know how to grade especially Ms. Peterson and the security guards are terrible except Mr. Morrison there is fights everyday kids bringing guns to school and weapons and the lunch service is terrible when you buy snacks the ladies refuse to give you extra change and the bus drivers are annoying. Don’t recommend this school and don’t attend it.

People think that the school is better since it has a new building but it’s actually worst a student slapped a teacher. And also you will se every kid skipping and teachers are making fun of you if you have money or not to buy pencils trust me another close school from here is Halle wells trust me I definitely recommend that school but this school never..
the bullying is just insane. Kids are smoking or vapping in the bathrooms. Please don’t send your kids here. And also kids will jump anyone or everywhere just if you look at them only person I recommend is Mr. Waksburg he is awsome !

I am a 8th grader at this school and I have been going to this school since 2019.Through out my 2 coming up on 3 school years of experience here. I have noted how abysmal this school is. Firstly the maintenance of the school, There is several major issues such as: Visible water damage comprising of water spots, Secondly a majority of the bathrooms in the school have had janky repairs done to them such as: When a sink leaks they just stink a bucket under it and leave it for a week or two. Thirdly the whole school in general feels like a metaphorical ticking timebomb, When it comes to the structure. Next the Social environment, Well as stated in prior reviews it is toxic as can be. There are several large "gangs" in the school that harass kids for the most minute flaws and literally drive kids to the point of un-needed violence resulting in punishment of the kid instead of the group involved .Next the lack of room in the halls, Quite literally throughout the day at this school if there is a accident in the halls it becomes more backed up than L.A traffic. Next the classroom cleanliness well there is none because the floors are all way either slippery or sticking because of one thing or another. Finally the lack of dealing with bullying, I have dealt with teachers that don't bother to help when people are being harassed by the aforementioned "gangs" and they punish the people who weren't the aggressors. That's all of the MAJOR issues with Neelsville Middle School.

Terrible school...the kids are disrespectful, toxic and full of drama.
the condition on the building is horrible...there is mold inside the school, rats in the school, and just falling apart.
There needs to be more consequences for the students who bully and disrespect others.

The students are toxic and the school quality is very poor. There were lights in the gym that broke 4 years ago and there are no signs of it getting fixed.

My 8th grade daughter has very little homework. I understand that the block scheduling allows the students to get a lot accomplished during class, but in order to be prepared for high school style homework is important.

I have been pretty disappointed with Neelsville. I do believe the teachers are good and they are doing the best they can, but the atmosphere at this school is not so good. This is my daughter's first year in public school after being homeschooled. She's in 8th grade and she enjoys the school for the social aspects, but I am concerned about the environment at the school. On the few occasions that my husband and I have visited during school hours, we have heard language and seen behaviors that are appalling. I realize that some of this is going to happen at any school and there is only so much teachers and administrators can do in these areas, but the population at the school is very rough and it is very obvious that the kids home lives are unhealthy. My other main concern is the lack of communication and opportunities for parental involvement. I receive very few emails, phone calls, etc. informing me of the activities at the school that are available for my daughter. I've tried to be involved with the PTSA, but unfortunately the leaders of this year's PTSA have really dropped the ball and there is absolutely no activity. I'm also saddened that there have been no field trips planned and it's almost April. My high schooler and my elementary students have been on multiple field trips this year. I have a 5th grader and I am actively trying to find alternative plans for him for next year. Neelsville is just not a good environment.

I am a student in the 6th grade I do not like this school very much, the bus drivers cuss, my classes are too easy, there are too many people who aren't there to learn, most teachers only care about doing there job and not really helping students, we're broke, kids are violent, teachers do nothing to break up fights, and the other people in lots of my classes are not in my level!!!
