My daughter is in her 2nd year at Magruder HS and is thriving. She's involved in sports, has a great group of friends and is enjoying her classes (at least most of them). We are excited about the new administration and are excited to see what direction the school goes in. So far, we are very pleased with our experience at Magruder.

My son attends Magruder HS and it has been a great experience for him. Teachers have really done their best to deliver a solid learning environment during this challenging time of virtual education and have communicated with us regularly regarding our son's progress.

Both of my children graduated from Magruder (2020 and 2017) and are in college now. It was clear that their teachers were patient and communicated expectations very clearly. All of their teachers were very dedicated but their math and science teachers were particularly engaging. My children did not have a math or science background from home but my kids learned to love math and science at Magruder.

The athletics program is first-rate. Certainly not every student is going to become a star athlete but the staff has the attitude that brings out the best in every kid who wants to participate.

Also, when I have visited Magruder, I was always impressed by how the staff and students are. Students would actually run to the main door to hold it open for me.

I'm not sure why there some negative reviews of Magruder, but every school has some students and parents who just can't be pleased.

This school failed my child. It is a disgrace in a county that has always had some of the best public schools in the country. From its teachers to the counseling staff to the principal, I have seen a complete failure in the administration of their duties. If I could do it all again, I would move my child to another school.

Administration is apathetic and it has lead to a predominately apathetic staff and very little pride in the school by the student body. Very nice kids at the school that are being short changed in their high school education and experience.

Diverse and well rated school with plenty of opportunities for high acheiving students. Great staff and administration

A diverse high school and rated one the best within Montgomery County. There are teachers, counselors and administrators who care and want the best from their students. There are AP and Honor courses which students can participate in and receive college credit. There are plenty of after school activities; athletics, clubs and organizations for students to take advantage of. I attended Magruder from 2001 to 2005, took on-level and honors courses, as well as participate in Track and Field. I can personally say, I believe what I learned from Magruder set a foundation for me to succeed in college.

There are strong academic and athletic programs at Magruder High School. I was both a member of the basketball team and took AP classes. The school felt safe as well as having diversity among the students and staff that helps prepare you for higher education. The county is known for good schools and Magruder routinely ranks high among the county schools.

Great experience for all of my three kids at Magruder. Upper level courses are very good and the community is wonderful. Involvement in the school beyond classes makes a huge difference. Like all schools, there are some real world issues to address like alcohol, violence and such. Staff handles all these well.

Our family moved from Out of state where our kids attended two of the best schools in the state We had reservations about Magruder because of the Great School Rating, but despite the rating the school has been amazing. The counselors and leadership worked with us to ensure our child was in the right classes and several of the teachers have gone above and beyond to involve our child in leadership opportunities to enhance their learning.

This school has an excellent music program and really great teachers. There is no other school like it.

Quality of teachers has exceeded our expectations. Athletic program is getting better and more competitive every year. Extremely happy with the education, support and opportunities that Magruder HS has to offer.

We have 3 children that attend this high school. It was recently rated # 314 out of 2000 is U.S. News and World Reports. It offers a multitude of activities and many AP courses. We believe that it should be an 8-10 on Greatschools website and are working toward the upgrade. Please do your research when choosing a High School. There are many sites to choose from. After you read reviews and talk to parents who have children in the school and school district you are considering to purchase in----you will have a more accurate picture.
