Both my kids have attended Pecan Park since kindergarten. We have had nothing but great experiences with all the teachers - including specialty teachers and assistant helpers. The school has done well with choosing friendly staff who truly care for the children there.

Pecan Park Elementary School is an excellent school for kids. Teachers are awesome and very good for students.

I believe this school would benefit greatly from more teacher aides. Students with questions are not always able to ask a question or get extra help if it's needed.
Some students do not perform well on a computer, but that's the only medium for homework.

In some instances my student's teacher was not aware of bullying and in other instances the teacher was aware. The teacher never informed me of any instance of bullying. All contact and discussions were initiated by me. The plan of action seemed nothing more than monitoring the situation. A child having items taken, being called mean names, and having other kids poke and grab them repeatedly cannot feel safe and valued. We told our student it is always okay to stand up for herself, and that she does not have to allow that. If the teacher has a problem with it she can take it up with us.

All homework was done through computers. This is a poor choice because all students are not comfortable on a computer, computer access was not always available, and the assigned work was not clear at all. I asked for other options, like printouts or worksheets from the book and was told they were not available.

Some teachers at this school are awesome and encourage their students. Unfortunately, some teachers call on and help the same 3-4 students throughout the year. I've heard several parents say their child complained of this. I believe it fosters a clique'ish and "us"/"them" environment.
I told my student to raise her hand and ask a question if something is unclear. Her response was the teacher isn't going to call on me or help me. She only helps certain kids. The teacher's aide helps as many people as she can but she is only in class once a week, so you're the only one that can help me.

I watched my students light dim. She began crying to not go to school. Other students would take her things and when I discussed it with the teacher she either was unaware or planned to watch how things developed. Both are unsatisfactory. It should be made clear what behavior is acceptable and unacceptable and all students corrected in the same manner.

Some faculty and staff at this school are truly wonderful. However, I believe the leadership can and should be more transparent. I, and other parents, have raised concerns and never received any follow-up, or informed of a plan of action. The complaints were received respectfully but all action seemed to stop there. When asked for an update, protecting the privacy rights of the other student(s) involved was why I could not be informed of the measure(s) applied to protect my child.

Our overall experience was poor. The early years were super. The later years were horrible. We pulled our student out of this school. She did not feel comfortable attending this school because of how the other students treated her, the lack of intervention by the teacher, and lack of help with her studies from the teacher.

My granddaughter attends Pecan Park. She just completed K-5. Her experience was very good. Small classes, clean and safe environment, and an excellent teacher. Her first formal school experience was great! Every time we visit the school we are struck by the welcoming environment and caring employees.

The entire staff made our first year great! They are all so caring from the front office to the custodians. It is a relief knowing that my son is in good hands while he's in school .

I heard such wonderful things about Pecan Park from my new neighbors! My youngest is thrilled with school. My oldest is miserable with Mrs. Giametta.

The school has the potential to be a good school. Unfortunately, they allow horrible teachers like Mrs. Giametta to teach our young children. Sad that so many good teachers needs and people like her are allowed to remain on staff.

Mere words cannot express how wonderful Pecan Park is. The teachers, staff, principal and vice principal are all very caring, nurturing and common sense people. The best of the best people. I regret that this is my child's last year there. They were there every step of the way for my child who had special needs, we worked through everything together and he finished 4th grade with flying colors, all due to the school's efforts. If it were not for Ms. Illich and his teachers, he would have been lost along the way in any other school, but instead he excelled and met his goals. Truly a wonderful school.
