My sons 3rd grade teacher is demeaning to the kids in her class. This is the 1st year that my son has dreaded going to school everyday. There is zero consequences for students that bully others. And most of the teachers "never see anything happening". The school talks about kindness but doesn't teach it or follow through with it.

We loved East Clayton Elementary. There is a lot of parent involvement because we see that the teachers care. Couldn't have asked for a better school.

The principal Jamie Tyler is one of the rudest most snide people I’ve ever encountered. She is not concerned with the safety and well being of the students under her watch. I am very disappointed that this is the school my student has to attend.

Excellent. We are so blessed, their teachers and TAs make it a nice experience. It is still school, parents have to participate and HELP their children. It's not the teachers' responsibility.

Ms. Tyler is always walking around, even in carpool. The ladies in the office always offer advice and help to explain anything that a parent doesn't understand

Amazing the principal is always out of her office multitasking, answering phone calls and helping
I was about to send 9 year old son with his grandparents in sillicon valley for a good school with extra programs in learning difficulties but Was fortunate to come across this school for my son

We are blessed to be apart of such a wonderful school family. There are so many great staff members, children and activities at this school. Partnering with a great school allows my children to have many positive experiences that will carry on with them for life.

Unorganized staff don't know what's going on. Two weeks into the school year and they're still having first day problems. It's obvious the new principal has never had this role. Implementing policies that are ineffective and useless. I.e. Having to sign your student out after the dismissal bell has rang ? Keeping the students inside the building and using radios to call them to individual cars. Car lines taking over an hour. This used to be an excellent school. We had other children go to east Clayton. Right now we're waiting for a charter school to have an opening and we're pulling him from this sorry excuse of a disorganized mess.

He doesn't have a teacher. He has a temporary substitute because they haven't hired a permanent teacher. They didn't expect 130 children to enroll. They would have known this if they would have bothered to show up to their own enrollment process at the school.

I've had kids at ECES for 10 years now, I have 3 of them. I believe ECES is THE BEST Elementary school around! I've had nothing but great experiences with all 3 of my children and their teachers. 2 of my children have learning disabilities/special needs and ECES has VERY good services. I do not think my oldest would be where he is today without ECES's special education's department's. They used many different types of programs with him, engaging him and challenging him in ways to have him grow each year and get him "out of his comfort zone" and me as well. I was scared to push him and they did, but gently. We've had such amazing teachers AND staff at ECES I can NEVER say enough good things about them. They are not just teachers to us, they are family. From Administrators, Counselors, office support, TA's, Custodians, Cafeteria staff, everybody employed there, it's a "Family Atmosphere" at ECES and that's one of THE BEST parts of ECES.....that's why we have NEVER considered moving out of the ECES district. My husband has been asked to move several times, but I refuse because of the ECES family. All 3 of my children know they are well educated, loved and supported there.

WONDERFUL school staffed by an amazing administration and truly caring, intelligent, hard-working, dedicated teachers. I have two children, one just finished 5th grade and one 1st grade. Could not be more pleased with the quality of their education. The PTA is wonderful as well.

rude administraion and yelling gossiping teacher assistants. Many of the teachers do not show much interest in teaching/education and the TA's are no help for the younger grades. Most parent/teacher/TA conversations consist of plans for holiday breaks and summer vacation activities. We are selling our home to get of of this school district. Beware

In the year & a half that we have been at ECES I am not impressed w/how it operates. The best aspect of the school is the parental involvement, but it ends there. Our family's experience has been that if your child or situation doesn't "fit" into the category of making leadership look good then you are ignored, brushed off & even indirectly accused at the "problem" is w/your parenting skills or home environment. This came directly from the principal. My top performing, social child began to regress, display high amounts of anxiety, & wouldn't even speak to his teacher unless she spoke to him first - he expressed to me that he no longer felt comfortable asking for help when he had questions & they were told to ask their classmates because the teacher was too busy - the principal not only refused our multiple requests to change classrooms, but also denies there is a problem in the class despite the fact that more than half of the parents in the room are unhappy w/the dynamics of the room. I personally believe that if she lets one child out of the room that it would open a floodgate & only magnify her grossly poor leadership skills as a principal. We will be leaving ASAP! Beware!

I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT GOOD COME OUT OF EAST CLAYTON FROM DAY ONE OF MOVING HERE. IF THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM, THEY HAVE BEEN VERY WILLING TO WORK WITH ME. I HAVE A SON WHO WOULD HAVE "FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS" IN OTHER PLACES. TOGETHER WITH THE STAFF, WE GOT HIM THROUGH ELEMENTARY AND HE IS NOW GETTING READY TO START HIGH SCHOOL YEARS. WE NOW HAVE AN UPCOMING 2ND GRADER AND ALSO A NEW KINDERGARTNER. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO BEING INVOLVED WITH THE SCHOOL FOR ANOTHER FEW YEARS!!!

Be prepared to teach your child much of the lessons at home! The school as a whole does a good job managing the day to day activities and make an effort to teach the kids good fundamentals, but more than a few of the teachers seem unable to keep up with a fast paced curriculum. In 2 years we have seen much favortism for the staff's children, in terms of looking the other way when they feel they can bully the other kids. If your child does not fit inside the "box" there is little help or support. If your child has any issues with other children and/or staff, everyone is too busy to help. Unfortunatey we have had to move around the last couple of years and my kids have been in multiple schools, but ECES has by far the least amount of support for struggling students and parents who are trying to adapt. We have tried multiple times to reach out for help for certain issues our kids had struggled with from time to time only to be tossed a side and ignored, this includes the principal. We are not needy people by any means but when are kids needed help at school we couldn't be there for them and quickly realized the staff wasn't either. Heartbreaking experience thus far.
