As a parent, I am incredibly disappointed with this school. The lack of professionalism from the staff is astounding; many teachers behave more like immature children than the students. They actively take sides in student cliques and drama, openly flaunting favorites.
Rules are only enforced for certain kids at certain times depending on the teacher's mood. Furthermore, as a Christian, I love God, but banning barely any normal game for "religious reasons" is extreme. Most games are perfectly playable.
The scheduling is awful too, almost all events happen during work hours, ignoring that adults have jobs. To make it worse, the school piles on mountains of homework and required reading over the summer. Let kids be with their families!
Communication is poor, staff maturity is severely lacking, and the environment is entirely disorganized. Look elsewhere for a true Christian environment.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. Had such a difficult time with the school for years. Yes the school is Christian but there is no feel of the Holy Spirit flowing. During Chapel they always preach the same message "Salvation" and skip over hell and demons. The school also is very soft with discipline, people have come to my child and have called them racial slurs and the child that did it, received little punishment, they didn't even get a detention all they had to do was write a letter of apology to my child. They are horrible with sceduling things, kids that play sports get more attention and favor than the kids that don't. The children at the school learn to form cliques at a very early age starting from elementary school. There is no diversity of any race, you are lucky if your child is able to be in a class with another child of ethnic background. For the elementary side of the school there are strict rules, no playing super heroes "Because God is the only Hero". No talking about Santa or the Easter bunny. The homework is overwhelming for all grades. Some of the teachers are nice, but my child has had more encounters with rude unprofessional teachers than nice ones. The only reason why my child went to this school is because this was the only Christian school near by without driving all the way to Raleigh every day. But moral of the story do what you want, but my other children will not be attending.

This school is absolutely phenomenal and I wouldnt never consider another school for any of my children. The academics are top notch, the teachers are loving and truly care for each student. They are amazing when it comes to family involvement and family involved activities. I recommend this school to anyone looking to seek a christian based education.

While there are a lot of positives about Southside, there are a lot of negatives that no one shares openly. They DO NOT accept children with learning challenges nor work with kids there that do have them. Southside is good for kids that need no extra help and excel academically. It's sad there are no Christian schools for kids that struggle but, also want and DESERVE a biblical education. Southside should do better. Instead of speaking out, people leave. And a lot of people have left because of this. This school has gone downhill with their new elementary principal.

Tons of homework every night. Some nights I spent 4 hours on homework while also trying to be a kid and live life, spend time with family, and do extracurriculars.
