Do not send your child to this school if you want good leadership, the principal is terrible , one of the teachers left the first day of school , without any explanation. The place is run like the gestapo, break one rule and it's over , no sense of reason or understanding of discipline .

The school was initially nice and allowed us to tour and encouraged us to apply. We applied and confirmed over email and voicemail. The school ghosted us with no explanation or reason. They refuse to respond to an email or voicemail. They claim their school can handle children with neurodivergence, but obviously cannot because we were ghosted fast! They can only handle ADHD and they do not actually provide any accommodations or support for those children. This is not the school for your child if they struggle with any special needs. They completely wasted my time.

I have been at Thaless for 7 years and it has gone downhill drastically. The class sizes are the same as a public school. They dont allow birthdays anymore, parents cant volunteer any more. The family like atmosphere is absolutely gone. Turn over is outrageous. This is the first year in 3 years my kids teacher hasnt quit mid-year. There is no diversity in teaching staff. I am just so disappointed. Dress code is selectively enforced, my kids had anxiety everyday hoping they wouldnt get red points because they grew 3 inches this semester. So I have withdrawn my children. I would rather put them in a public school and supplement their education with IXL than bring them back.

My daughter has attended charter and public schools in the area and this school is by far the best school we have ever attended. She is much more confident in her skills; which leads to better performance. My daughter has also become a better student here and is able to retain much more than in the past. I believe this has to do with their teaching methodology. The school has a curriculum that fosters critical thinking skills which just makes their students become better individuals. You should know that this school is much more fast paced than charter and public schools. There is a lot of homework; which I believe is a good thing. That is one area we have struggled with as we came from a school that did no homework. I do believe by doing the homework, the students are learning real world skills like time management and repetitive learning leads to greater long-term success. The staff and teachers really care about their students and the success of their students. They are really wonderful communicators. The class sizes are smaller and there are less kids in the school than a traditional public or charter school so they are able to pay closer attention to each individual student. Just for perspective, my daughter went from below-average scores to straight A's. That must tell you that they are doing EVERYTHING right! Overall I would 110% recommend this school to others. It is the best decision we've ever made! I wish we would have applied sooner!

Best school in triangle. Excellent teachers, old school and very effective method of teaching, my daughter excels in this environment. Very affordable and love the uniforms...lessens distractions and keeps focus on learning. Cant say enough great things about Thales and feel so fortunate that we live in Raleigh and have access to this school. They don't really advertise so status is not a factor. Thales keeps it real :)

Hands down, best choice we could have made for our son. We're in our second year, and have nothing but praise for the curriculum and staff. I feel like my child is known and loved, and that the staff truly care for him. Ms. Brame is a very capable and effective administrator, and she would simply not stand for anyone not working effectively and lovingly with these children. I find the student demographic to be appropriately diverse, and the curriculum tailored sufficiently for each grade level. Someone in another review complained about the Aftercare programs, which I found laughable. We've never had a single problem with aftercare, and have only praise for how it's been run, and the individual care and attention that these staff members pay to the children. They have very secure policies and safeguards in place for the kids. Unfortunately, kids are going to get hurt sometimes. I've definitely been present when the rules are reiterated, and enforced for safety. Bottom line, my kid is loved and valued at this school, and I don't worry for one minute while he's there. He's thriving academically, and being held to high standards. Wouldn't trade Thales for anything!

Overall experience
My experience with Thales Academy Raleigh has been AMAZING !! Love the school !! They are excellent communicating with parents and although a school VERY focus in academics, kids still get lots of love. The school is a lot more diverse then expected, given that it is private school and some privates school lack diversity. Both my kids were reading at two grades higher. There is not a lot of Sports but quite honestly, I have been able to supplement with extra curriculum activities. I love that Kindergartners get 2 recess apart from Lunch and snack, uniforms are a blessing, just make life easy for parents. Cons for people living in the Raleigh area, JH and HS is in Wake Forest/Rolesville. There are talks about a new Campus for JH/HS in Easter Wake county but there is not news where is it going to be.

I lean more toward a 4.5, only because I wish there was more effort to hire a diverse staff. Beside that, I found the teachers and administrative staff to be excellent. They are good communicators and my child was given a lot of love for the three years she was there. It is a school focused on the basic ("Three R's,) so if you'd like a lot of sports and clubs, this is not the school for you. However, if you want your child to have a steady foundation, it's good. For example, when my daughter was in the second grade, she was reading at a 6th grade level! The only reason we left was because we moved.

This school is just average. If your child is gifted they will not offer him/her anything to challenge him more than one year of advancement. My son who is academically gifted was completely bored in the highest level math they offer for his grade. When I approached the math teacher as well as the Principle Heather Brame about potentially doing something for him to keep him challenged - as perhaps him attending a higher grade math class, I was met by the following response: 'Unfortunately there is nothing that we can do more than a one grade level of advancement' . Although his Iowa testing scores showed him at a much higher grade level. I also asked if he can be tested and I pretty much got a NO.
Also, After care is not staffed well, I know of several incidents where few kids got hurt and broke a leg or an arm. I went once to pick up my kids, only to see a child on the floor crying beside the metal gate while two teachers were facing the other side chatting who didn't really see him. The child was badly hurt and I ran outside of my car to see what was going on as I called the teachers for their attention. I refused to put my children in after care for that reason. Other than that, the school is just ok, I like the uniform and reading program they have. Teachers in general seem to have control of the class and children - and hence the average review. If you are looking for a school for your average child this is not a bad one, but if you are hoping for a school to help your child excel, I would recommend you to look elsewhere.
