I waited two years to get my son into this school and I pulled him after the first semester . My son dealt with bullying , non support from his core teachers and the lack of communication between teachers and teachers is beyond disappointing. Every that glitters is not gold . The only thing positive is a few admin which was the assist ant superintendent and the asssistant principal . His teachers would put him down and would show favoritism and it really affected my sons mental health - I do not recommend this school at all .

I was a former student (4th-8th grade) and I cannot stop stressing this enough, DO NOT LET YOUR CHILD COME HERE. if you want your child to stay inside their shells, learn to be a pushover and gain many insecurities with a bad self image then this would be the school for you. The staff sucks but the children peers are SO MUCH WORSE and the bully's DO NOT ever get disciplined...just given excuses and blown off

I had the misfortune of attending this school for one year, and it was by far the worst educational experience of my life. The teachers and principal were all incompetent and uncaring, the curriculum was outdated and irrelevant, and the overall atmosphere was one of apathy and despair. I felt like I was wasting my time and money every day I went to school, and I can't believe I had to endure it for an entire year.
The staff was all very poorly qualified and unlicensed. Many of them had no teaching experience at all, and those who did were often out of touch with the latest educational trends. As a result, the instruction I received was often ineffective and outdated.
The curriculum was outdated and irrelevant. The textbooks were years old, and the lessons were often based on outdated theories and information. As a result, I felt like I was learning things that were no longer relevant to the real world.
The overall atmosphere at the school was one of apathy and despair. The students were all unmotivated and uninterested in learning, and the teachers seemed to have given up on trying to make a difference. As a result, I felt like I was in a dead-end situation, and I couldn't wait to graduate and move on.
I would strongly advise anyone considering attending this school to reconsider. There are much better educational options available, and you're better off spending your time and money elsewhere.

My daughter has been attending TCEA since 2019 and my son since 2021. We enjoy the laid back atmosphere and diversity of staff and students. Teachers are passionate about their roles as educators and support the students well. The atmosphere in the school is positive and family centered. Education has changed a lot since Covid and the staff continues to learn about new information on how to teach well.

They continue to add programs to their high school for incoming and existing students to give them as many opportunities as possible. We are proud to be apart of the Chameleon family!

It’s difficult to write anything positive about this school. The principal is one of few holding this place together. Teachers don’t bust down on bullying and if your child is unfortunate to be targeted by one bully you can fully expect this trend to carry on all year. And if your child is on the spectrum you can expect much the same as there isn’t any special education or compassion to focus on your child’s needs( even as far IEP and 504 violation). I’d even go as far as to say the teachers are here as a last resort hiring option. They barely have the ability to keep the same staff as the year before. If you win their enrollment lottery for your child or even consider this school for your child cause it’s an ‘art school/academy’ please reconsider. Your child’s mental health and learning experience will haunt them years to come if they even attend this school.

This school has so much potential. Unfortunately, it leaves so much to be desired.

The behavioral issues and bullying are extreme. They tend to take in children who have been expelled from the public school system and it shows. All children deserve a chance, but I don't think they have the structures in place to adequately handle the troubled students they take in and it shows.

What good is an arts based school if the arts are constantly interrupted because another fight has broken out?

The pickup/dropoff situation is atrocious and the behavior of the parents makes it clear where many of these "bad" behaviors are learned.

There are some staff members that are kind and care a lot but this school cannot keep teachers. I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to work there either. There are also some very condescending and unkind teachers as well, but I suppose that's everywhere.

I worry that the academics are not up to par and that when we pull our students next month, they will likely have a lot of catching up to do.

really really horrible. If I could give this school 0 starts I would because of just how horribly unprofessional the principle and teachers are. the 2nd grade teacher and 1st grade teacher we encountered were very polite and professional, but the 2 4th grade teachers and principle were very lacking to put it kindly.

second and lower grade teachers were professional and kind to the students. 4th grade teachers are severely lacking and very unprofessional and don't do anything about bullying but rather lend their own personal issues into the classroom setting and parent meetings.

upon reaching out to the principle about a teacher's behavior being strongly offensive (outburst to all passing students and staff claiming my husband was cornering her and she didn't feel safe as he was there to walk our daughter into class and to ask the teacher a simple question), we asked the principle for an apology for the teacher having done that to my husband and was told the teacher has her own personal issues and that is none of our business and the teacher won't be forced into offering an apology as it goes against the teachers own morals to choose who deserves an apology and who does't. We have never experienced such behavior from adults let alone teachers and principles.

Overall, I'd say this school has been great for my granddaughter. After bouncing around through a few CCS Schools, my granddaughter is thriving here.

My daughter, 2nd Grade, has daily homework which isn’t overwhelming in the time it takes. It reinforces the basics in math, ensuring she maintains her foundational knowledge. She is challenged by the reading homework, which is her weakness.

From what I have seen, disrespect towards other students and staff isn’t tolerated. Children are expected to step up to the standard, rather than lowering the standard to their current level. I really appreciate this aspect of the school.

My daughter has an SLD in reading. Between the school, the parents, and another program, she is now reading at grade level within one year of identifying her need.

This is my daughter’s second year at the school. She loves it. As a parent, I have had nothing poor to say about the place. My daughter is very arts centered, including theater, music, dance, etc.; so arts integrated curriculum works for her.

The teachers are the first bullies. There was an instance where lunch was terminated early because children were talking! Because "welcome to big school". This is K and 1st grade.

For three years we have been heavily involved with the school. Unfortunately we have seen no improvement with the current head administration. Perception is reality here. If you see the front office personnel you will get a take of the day to day reality. Sad and unkept.

Terrible...I was given the impression the school would focus on the arts whilst incorporating academics. That was not the case. Every year there are fewer art options and the academics are seriously lacking. There aren't enough books for students. Teachers continually quit throughout the year. I thought new school it might start out rough, but it hasn't gotten any better. There's little to no structure.

Wonderful! The arts integrated into the core curriculum effectively develops student critical thinking and a love for learning. If you want a school that focuses on developing a student's mind more than focusing on testing, choose this school.

This school is selling an image of being better than it really is. All the veteran teachers have left, red flag 1. Events are very disorganized and our child who excelled is now in jeopardy of falling behind. This school is not what it claims to be. We are pulling our child out and seeking a school that is more straight forward.
