As a parent of two students at Athens, we have had a great experience. Administrators and staff truly care about the well-being of students and encourage all students to get involved & pursue their passions. We feel that our students will be well prepared for college and have benefitted from a diverse student body.

They never have transportation and there is no communication to parents that there will be no transportation. You child just waits outside in the cold and eventually gives up waiting for the bus. When contacting the school about this issue they have no answers and say If there is no bus in the morning there most likely won’t be a bus home in the afternoon. For all of this hassle and education not being important for our children. Avoid this school!!! virtual schooling or private schooling is a better option #NewToNC #Disappointed

Athens Drive is truly a community school, where all members care about the success of each other.

Students of this school with learning disabilities have an emotionally supportive staff to help them through their school day. When walking through the halls of this school, I noticed the helping hands and calming music to further emotional growth of individuals.

Athens Drive focuses mainly upon fear tactics to keep children in line. Staff members could be more supportive of individual students to create a community that can better students emotionaly/ academically. Success would come naturally if students felt empowered and supported by their school conditions.

Overall, there were ups and downs to my experience here. Some staff members were very loving and supportive of our growth as young adults. Other staff members were cold and uncaring. Students show respect for the most part, but not always integrity and compassion. The school policies were not always followed by student and staff members.
There were many school fights, a few drug problems, and overpopulation. When I think about those few teachers who supported me as a student/young adult, however, I can see that Athens is like the many other schools I've been to. 3.0 from a former student.

Most teachers are great but some of them are lazy. They make u watch a video and answer the questions which they like to call "study guide" a lot of people there are untouchable. If u say something to them, expect to get punched in the face

I love all that this school has to offer each child. Children who wish to have an accelerated path can do so with Athens extensive AP courses, STEM Program, and Medical Science academy. For those with specials needs, they have a strong program. The school is a fit for children from diverse backgrounds. The teachers truly care, the band program is excellent. Excited for the new football stadium in Fall of 2017. So much to offer and you only know about if your children attend! Great parents involved at the school!

The students who attend Athen show integrity daily and learn about so many things in life based on those that attend the school. Good behavior is supported through the enrichment programs.

We have been very pleased with our sons' experiences at Athens Drive High School. I have a Master's Degree in Education and am currently a Realtor so schools are very important to me for personal reasons and for resale and home value reasons. The STEM program at Athens is exceptional! The teachers are truly caring and supportive and bring out the best in every student. Take the time to truly explore the school and programs and interview faculty and parents. We are fully confident that when our sons graduate, they will be very well equipped and ready for the real world!

I can't say enough about the excellence of this school. Do your research and learn more!!! STEM and Health Science Academies, 20 AP courses, award winning music and arts programs, SMART Lunch, involved Jaguar Club and PTSA, 60+ clubs, teacher presence during the day and easy access to administration. Caring teachers that engage and challenge students. Don't believe what others who don't know anything about our school say. Do your own research. Your child will be ready and more than prepared for college and life! It was and is the best choice for us!

Our son joined Athens Drive High School his Junior year-which could have been pretty difficult for a high school kid. To our great pleasure he was welcomed with open arms. There were no "clicks" to deal with and he slid right in like he'd been with the students from the beginning. The academic aspect of the school is very impressive. The teachers and administrative staff are there to support the students reach their full potential.

Athens High provides an education that prepares children for wonderful future endeavors. The teachers genuinely care for the students. The extracurriculars offered here are better than many others. My children thrive here and are setting goals for college.

While there are some hardworking teachers, many are demoralized and insubordinate! This school is not safe...areas that are in serious trouble regarding safety are the lunch room, and school grounds during lunch period, there are fights and the staff can't supervise. Partly because they have one lunch time for the whole school. Also gym activities have quite a bit of violent behavior that is overlooked by staff.

ADHS is a hidden gem of a school in WCPSS. Incredible programs such as STEM, Band, Orchestra, Theater, Special Ed and incredibly supportive booster clubs make Athens a great community school. Teachers communicate and offer many opportunities for help outside the classroom. Perfect choice for our children.

Wonderful school!!! Both my daughters were well prepared for college and had a realistic view of the world they were entering. Athens Drive was diverse, multicultural, and engaging. The teachers and administration addressed any concerns I had quickly and efficiently. They did not always coddle to me and my kids (just like the real world), but the staff always explained their decisions.

Athens Drive HIgh School- We moved to Raleigh in August 2012. We have been very pleased with Athens for our son. Teachers and counselors go above and beyond. An altercation last fall ( which was witnessed by my son and was exaggerated by media) was handled wonderfully and was a .one time occurrence. We are happy to be part of the Athens Drive community. Great school!

This school is very unsafe and has a history of fights. Today there were a total of 10 fights in a 15 minute period at lunch. It even made the news. You can find it on Wral.com search "Athens Drive High School." So glad I transferred my son.

Very professional and responsive school administrators. Good course selections and attention to students who are average rather than simply focusing on the AP course crowd. Have been very pleased with the experience we've had in two years here. Parent involvement is strong and there is a full range of award-winning activities from sports to music. Proud to call this my neighborhood school after many happy years in magnets and schools of choice.

My son has had a great year at Athens. We were concerned coming in from a private school that the adjustment would be difficult. Thanks to the caring staff and great teachers the change proved to be a good one.

Athens is a great school. Teachers are very tough, but they ultimatly do help the kids excel. Their are very few discipline problems now that redistricting has occurred and my child feels very safe. Even acdemic classes are difficult and challanging. I would send any kid that would like to learn here.

Excellent and professional staff. I never have a concern about safety for the students. The curriculum is excellent for college prep. Many extracurricular activities which interest most students. Great learning and yes social environment.
