They are not considerate about the female part of the school because we are now required to carry binder bags and we cannot bring our book bags so the female part of the school doesnt have any where to put their feminine products so they really need to take that in to consideration.In which every female student gets a period not all of them use tampons some use pads which come in different sizes and may not be able to fit inside the binder bag and not only did the inform the students late majority of they students had already purchased a 100 dollar book bags to now not be able to use them nor return them this is a really bad policy they have a lot of gross sexual rules against females one of them being a leggings policy you have to wear a shirt that covers your behind this is very weird i feel like young female students shouldnt have to go through this at a school no one should be looking at there behinds anyway this just goes to show this school isnt a good school and if you need this many rules against female students you should be ashamed to call yourself a magnet school.

Very disappointing experience. Communication has often been frustrating, and I feel that some concerns from students and families are not handled as effectively as they should be. The overall environment could use improvement, particularly when it comes to organization, communication, and making students feel supported. I hope the school takes feedback seriously and works toward creating a better experience for its students and families. I do not recommend sending youre child here.

For starters, the school is broke and tries to act like a prestigious academy; newsflash, it isn't. The administration is rude for no reason and abuses their power.
I spent my entire middle school experience here and faced bullying, racism, and discrimination toward myself and other students. On one occasion, a teacher yelled at me while I was actively grieving my friend's death that same week, telling me I 'needed to move on.' Administration did nothing about it, and I never received an apology.
Most teachers care more about students following absurd, nonsensical rules than actually teaching them. However, a few teachers and the school counselors were really sweet, offered me comfort, and genuinely helped me through my grief.
Overall, this school is not a good environment to grow up or learn in. Parents, please do not send your kids here if you want them to have a safe and happy middle school experience.

I went to this school for my 6th,7th, and 8th grade year. I definitely do not recommend this school. If your child has experienced bullying this school is not for them. Ive received so much racist comments and bullying from this school. The staff is horrible teachers dont do anything and theres only 2-3 teachers that will probably do something about it other than that they let it go. Parents please think about different school options.

This school is horrible. The staff do NOT care for you or your education. Admin doesn't either. They favorite the children who misbehave. They will not help you learn. They will kick you out of special need classes if your too smart. (IEP included.) They don't care about mental health. Please do NOT send your kid here.

hi im a current student here and this school is terrible and i would not recommend this school because all the teacher quit or dont teach good this year atleast 5 teacher quit mid year and the other teachers teach terrible its such a bad school and they dont pay attention to your mental health atleast half of this school is depressed and the learning here is so bad they dont really teach the teachers are just there for their paycheck because we mainly just watch videos and you most kids get iss because their so bad and the students like to yell scream make threats and just overall bad and i dont feel safe in this school becuase theirs alot of racistim bulling cyberbulling and a whole much other this school is overall bad and the building is all dirty and broken

My experience at East Garner was horrible. It was not a good learning environment. I never felt safe while I was in this school. The students in this school were awful and constantly bullied, fought, and just got into lots of trouble throughout school. My bus was pepper sprayed and the bus driver didnt do much about it other than pull over and air out the bus. Firecrackers were used to damage the bathrooms. Smoking was a big issue. And the teaching quality was not there. If you are about to go to East Garner I would consider switching if possible. Do not recommend this school at allll.

Bullying was always a very big problem. The kids who seemed to be more nerdy or had nerdy hobbies were always picked on the most. Also the racism is crazy. I was called the ugly white girl by the black students. I was picked on for being different and this led me to have severe declining mental problems leading into high school. Dont send your children here if you want the absolute best for them. The teachers dont care at all. The school building is run down and nasty. The teachers always side with the bullies. Nobody has any accountability awareness. This school has failed many like me.

This school is a nightmare. Fights everyday, bullying, racism run rampant from students, teachers and administrators. Mostly against the white population of students attending because it makes up such a small percentage there. Dont let the magnet fool you its a horrible school. The only thing we liked about this school was the SRO and the PAAL program. Communication between teachers and parents is non existent. They try to make all of the communication between the students and teachers as if the child were an adult and dont notify parents of issues. Its just all and all a bad experience so we left.

This is a failing school. The teachers are failing the students. The administration is failing the students. The district is failing the students! The building is old and falling down. There are fights almost everyday. Racism toward the white population runs unchecked and out of control!

This school is extremely racist and bigoted. My experience there was terrible. The educators there are very good, however, the community is extremely toxic and there is much bullying and discrimination. There is also the influence of sexual and illegal activity that the students would usually get into various times. There would be huge amounts of homework given, and a fight every other day. Terrible test scores and dirty environment. Absolutely terrible experience. Would not recommend it.

Very good academically and as a learning community. Excellent elective programs with a wide variety of learning opportunities and a very strong and impressive fine arts program.

The amount of homework is reasonable. Students are given agendas and learn organization skills and time management. We prefer the A/B Day schedule, which gives the students more time in each class and less, tedious work each day. Teachers use communication tools to make sure students and parents are aware of homework and grades, etc.

Our children have had so many good, strong teachers who have a lot of commitment and experience. Many of the teachers have been there for years and have a very good rapport with the students.

I am a current student and some teachers just give you a briefly explain what to do and sit in the corner and do whatever it is that they do. Until last year the principal was never seen not even a welcome when he six graders started the school year.

I cannot say enough good things about EGMMS! The administration and staff are outstanding, committed professionals, many of whom hold advanced degrees. The curriculum offers the students the opportunity to take 4 times the number of electives per year than a student at the average MS. Being an International Baccalaureate school, the students are getting a wonderful education about the world and their place in it. The nasty comments some have made about the school's demographics? The teachers embrace those differences and work them into the curriculum! Are there some problems in the school? What middle school doesn't have some problems? The administration focuses on positive reinforcement before the problems even pop up! Awesome! My child is happier going to school this year than he has been in years! Sending him to EGMMS was the best decision we've made since picking a nursery school!

My son had problems with his old school students and teachers. After playing football this year he started to bring his grades up and had more pride in himself. I want to let everyone know that Coach Tomaino and his staff have turned my sons attituide into a positive direction.

I went to this school for my 7th grade year and It was very good. I made a lot of friends but there was a little fuss about the teams and which team is better but it was fine. The school sports teams are pretty good, never really heard anything bad about it. They also had this time before lunch where everyone would go in the gym and have free time (Play basketball, volleyball, sit on the side and talk with friends) which I thought was pretty cool! During the middle of the year, the school made a new team (The Cobra's) and moved some 7th graders into it because the classes were crowded. It was horrible, there were only two teachers who taught two subjects, students didn't really listen, and the principle had to come in a lot. I had to beg the counselor to change one of my classes. Pros: School has some cool electronics for students to use. Big school Up to date Requires you to take a second language Great Curriculum Cons: The 8th graders classes were in TRAILERS and they didn't have lockers! I thought that was pretty bad for a school who has a lot of money. The school doesn't had a track, it has a little track around some trailers. Only has 3 choices of languages

My school is East Garner Middle school. I love this school but, the teachers can range on their strictness . Even though none of the teachers are mean they never listen to our opinion. Improvent are needed. TWO AND A HALF RATING

hi. i go to east garner middle, it's pretty great! I like the different teams, they help stop cliques better. The IB program is swell because we at east garner focus more on subjects. Such as: second languages, arts, and technology. The school, and students aren't "ghetto" like you may hear. Nobody is really bullied. We act like any other middle schoolers, so if you can't handle EGMMS than your child won't make it anywhere else. The teachers here really push us to do our best. Like at the time of EOG's the have of work hard. And if we go up a ceartin number of points, we get to go on fun trips! You even get rewarded for showing up all four days! hope you enjoy EGMMS!
