Today was my daughter's first day at this school. She transferred from Lufkin rd middle in Apex. I really wish she could have stayed there. So we walked in the office and was not acknowledged. I stood at the counter while 3 women were on the computer trying to figure something out. After 5 mins of me standing there, one of them finally asked me how can they help me. They didnt seem friendly at all. My child and I didn't feel welcomed. In all we waited around 30 mins just to get her schedule printed out. And when thd receptionist finally gave us the schedule she addressed my daughter as a boy!!!! I found that very disrespectful. They were very unorganized and not on one accord. The faculty was literally all over the place. Everyone waiting was very frustrated. But moving along...Lets talk about the appearance of the school. The grass wasn't cut, there are dead flowers in the flower pots, vines growing up the walls of the buildings, and bushes that need trimming very badly. There was a teacher outside pulling weeds from a flower pot as we walked by, leaving dry dirt all over the ground. I did not want to leave my baby at this school. She cried as she was walking away to go to class. I really thought this school was going to be decent. I shouldve read the reviews. I didn't see any kids happy or smiling. They all seemed aggravated. I will definitely look into getting my daughter transferred ASAP!!!!

I'm a student here and have been at this school for 2 years. I will be going to high school soon. My experience here has not been great. When I first came here in 6th grade everything was chill. teachers were great, the students on the other hand were very disrespectful. Nine times out of ten the students are given Lunch reflection but still keep up the same behavior. I really do like the program here. The Art's program here is great as well as the elective classes. Teachers don't really go above and beyond to fix disruptive or disrespectful students. Staff here also don't really put in the effort to help us learn. Seventh grade is a lot worse and I can't imagine how 8th grade will be. In my Seventh grade experience, I always see students fighting or bullying as well as trying to make you feel like you are a nobody. When fights happen teachers do not put in the effort to try to stop them. Many eighth-graders vape in the bathroom as well as damage school property. Admin here is not too great. Admin don't put in the effort to punish kids who have behavior issues. For example this student threw a foot ball at many other students intentnianly to try to harm them. I report that situation to staff, and admin was contacted. When admin took a look at CCTV all they had to say was, "They were just playing football" The fact that bothered me the most is that they didn't even try to talk to kids whole saw the whole situation to try to resolve this issue. Right now I'm dealing with a student being very disrespectful twards me and calling me rude slurs. I'm contacting Head Admin to try to reslve this beacuse clearly an In-School-Suspension was not enough. If staff does not try to resolve this I will have to talk to the School Board and most likly wont end well for the student and staff member. Overall I really would advise you to stay away from this school and to choose any other school in the area!

Honestly I loved ever second of it. They have great teachers and classes. The only issue I see is that the 6th grade vice principal is mean or strict but cool other wise. I definitely recommend this school.

This school is great! I don’t know how ppl can write reviews when they don’t even go to the school but the school is great on bullying, homework and has gained control of the students! Also great culture diversity...strongly recommend this school!

As a parent, I was very disappointed. I received a voicemail from one of my sons teachers about policy and him running in the hallway, and if he does it again there will be ASD. Now I had to address an incident about him being what the students call (pantsed) at school. His pants being pulled down by another student. The only thing staff can tell me is that is was probably just a joke, boys being boys, but they do take it seriously. Hmmmm. Couldn't get any definite answers or school policy on that. I had to explain to my son there was no school policy, when he asked me in tears,"what is the school gonna do about that?"

Do not send your child to this school. Do a lot research about this school and you will figure out why.

If you bring up your concerns for your child, not sure if admin or the teachers truly look into the concerns. You have to keep reminding them that there are issues that need to be resolved or your child will not succeed or feel comfortable. Some teachers need to open their eyes better to see what some kids are trying to get away with that could get them suspended or hurt a peer.

Two of my children attended East Millbrook and my experience was mixed. Both of my sons went there for the arts and came away with greater interests and skills. My first son attended 4 years ago and had a mix of art classes that most middle schools don't offer. My second son attended last year and took drawing and advanced art. He learned to draw, paint murals, build theater sets, and was offered a chance at going to Europe. I have mixed feelings about the school because of the behavior of some of the students on campus. I read recently that the school is creating an Arts Academy, maybe this will breathe life into a school that has great opportunities that are overshadowed student behavior.

At times it seemed like too much. My son read a story that required three different projects to be made.

One of the things I remember was my sons talking about was learner traits that touched on those attributes .

The majority of the kids at this school are out of control, which makes it an unsafe environment for those students who go to school to learn.

I have been at East Millbrook for three years now and I loved my experience overall! If you are thinking about enrolling here, enroll! The arts program is great and so is the IB program. Those are just a few good highlights that this school provides and you just won't get these programs from other schools.

This school is HORRIBLE! I have two children that have attended this school and our experiences were absolutely horrible. As a parent you want the best for your child, THIS school IS NOT it. Some teachers have a "I don't have time to deal with this" or "It's not my responsibility" type attitude, the admins are absolutely two-faced, half do not know what certain protocols are suppose to be in place when asked by a parent and say whatever to appease you. ALL children learn differently as well as adults and it's a set standard of teaching no adjustments are made for certain children. Stereotypes are at an all time high, to get situations handle are like pulling teeth. Administration give excuses, and will say anything to save their jobs. My children had been bullied almost everyday and when they told the teacher about it, the bullying, name calling, and constant peer pressure worsened when the teachers weren't around. I am bewildered at how Admin told me that my children needed to come and tell them for they have no tolerance for bullying, but the school has at least 1-2 fights at the school A DAY!!! What is a child to do if they do admin or teachers and it makes it worse????

I LOVEEEE East Millbrook Middle!! . I made a bunch of friends. Also there are many cultures that enrolled in this middle school. I recommend that more students enroll in this school. There are three 6th grade teams: Lions(my team), the Tigers team, and the panthers. The teachers are nice, however a few teachers( I'm not gonna mention them ) that can be a bit annoying and very difficult( homework wise). Other than that, East Millbrook Magnet Middle School is the best middle school EEVVEERR!!!!!

East Millbrook is an International Baccalaureate (IB) and A+ for Creative Arts Magnet Middle School. Our dual magnet program is available to all students, our base population and student that apply to attend. Students at our school are exposed to rigorous academic curriculum and superior fine and creative arts program. Our students love the diverse population and teachers that are committed to their success. I love East Millbrook and believe that additional funds will strengthen our STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematic) especially the technology component -- more computer equipment for our dynamic students.

I AM A STUDENT AT EAST MILLBROOK AND I LOVE IT THERE THE TEACHERS ARE GREAT I JUST LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted: September 10, 2013

Im not sure how a person can put such a low rating on a school if their child doesnt even attend. Both my children currently attend this school and I have been nothing but satisfied. The teachers work great with the parents, some go above and beyond by calling you. The administration is strict, but in this day and age thats a GOOD THING. Both my children have had a great experience and I highly recommend this school.

East Millbrook is a wonderful place for child to learn and grow into a young adult!!!

Unsafe school with self-serving administration. Poor facilities, unruly students, disinterested parents are the norm. I would not send my children to this school.

My daughter is now an 8th Grader at East Millbrook Middle School. Her experience there has overall been very good. The majority of the teachers have been fantastic and have gone well above and beyond. The few minor challenges we had were addressed immediately by the principal. In my daughter s 8th grade year, her 7th grade math teacher volunteered to come to school at 6:45 am to give my daughter extra help and support. If you are an engaged parent, your child should have a very good experience at this school.

My child is now an 8th grader at EMMS who is AG identified and the issues we have had are extremely minimal. Like with ANY school, there are teachers who should choose another profession, however, they have been few. I have always been an involved parent and made it known to my children's teachers that we are in it together. If you are not involved with your child's teacher and do not present a unified front to your child, you are doing a dis-service to your child. We have enjoyed the teachers and the activities. She is will miss the school next year.

My child is a 7th grader that attends EMMMS for the 12-13 school year. It s hard to give the school an overall rating. He has some really great teachers who are dedicated to educating kids. He has others that struggle to see past stereotypes and focusing on education. He recently had two teachers to quit midyear and that experience has really set back his learning. I m not sure why the teachers left but they were the stronger teachers. The principal appears very proactive and responsive to the needs of the school and the students. I have not had a great experience with the assistant principal this year but I am continuing to work on that relationship. Last year, the assistant principal for 6th grade was great but she is no longer there. As of now, I am considering other schools for next year in hopes to provide a more stable environment.

Som of the admin staff are very rude, and others just sit by and don't care or try to even help. This is the worst case of passing the buck because their lazy...

This school has potential but I know some staff members needs to get fired for unprofessional treatment of some students and some parents.
