I do not like the school or the head administrator. It is terribly unorganized & the winters are a joke. My son sat in class along with the rest of the children in school with absolutely no heat for several weeks before they decided to turn it on last winter! Teachers and children were in class with big coats, hats, & gloves. Needless to say, he was sick everytime I blinked an eye.

Depends on the teacher and their actual personality and their love of teaching. Unfortunately my son has a very mean teacher this year. She even looks mean, hardly ever smiles. Kinda scary! If you like your teachers to look unprofessional it is the perfect place, I have seen some with huge nose rings, long fiery red hair one day & blond the next not to mention the distasteful clothing. Some are looking as if they're at a nightclub. There should be a dress code! Kids are looking at this!

Eeh! This depends on the teacher, if a student is lucky enough to get a great one that is absolutely great. Other than that, the ones that are just there for a paycheck is another story.

It is very hard to have direct contact with the principal. She is not very approachable and tends to put off the important stuff such as calling parents back! I have heard staff talking about the principal in very negative ways.

I don't have much experience in this area.

Teachers are terrible along with the front desk adminstration.

The administration is terrible along with the teachers. The teacher have been terrible for along time with the exception of a few. My oldest daughter has struggled for 4yrs here. Most of the teachers dont believe in homework so its hard follow your child's progress. Just in last my oldest daughter is getting homework, but because of her k and 1st grade teacher she is so far behind and I believe it has ruined her academically. I believe my child has been labeled by past teachers which caused her struggles academically. Her current teacher does not care my child. I complained for years now I boiling point with this school. I would recommend this school to any parent.

When my son was in kindergarten he was great his touch kept in touch with me every step of the way. I told her I do not play when when it comes to my sons education. She was happy to hear that now that he's in first grade it's been downhill. One of the parents made a comment saying it's like smashing your head up against the wall .. I agree 100% .. The staff doesn't like it if you are concerned about what's going on. The principal seems to care less , but the assistant principal does. I think they should change roles. My sons first grade teacher now I told her the things that I would like to have seen such as my sons behavior chart (he's adhd) everyday filled out that isn't happening she promised me every weekend we would have homework I knew that wouldn't happens which is fine because I have my own Hw for my son on weekends .. And I just feel like they do not care .. I can not wait for this school to be over so I can change schools if possible. I love by two other elementary schools and there schools seems to be doing a lot better then this one. It's like they do not anything for these kids ..

My son is an accelerated reader and I feel he should be given adequate amount of reading to challenge his abilities.

My son teacher is excellent and it's always easy to talk to her, just by sending her an email. However, the office is rude and never really have a direct answer to your question. They hold conversations with other people while on the phone with you. They doors are locked until 2:30 and I didn't know that being I just moved here, and when I went to the door, she was rude about it and told me to get in my car and go on the side of the building to pick him up. You can't park and walk up and get your child, they make you wait in long lines just to pull up to the building to get them.

I'm rather surprised at some of the reviews because my daughters teacher was always very responsive and had great communication with me. I didn't have to deal with the front office much and don't have an opinion really about them.... they helped me with what I needed and didn't leave me with a bad impression like some others have stated. School was clean and well kept. I had no issues and would have been perfectly happy with my daughter staying there if we hadn't moved.

If you want to be constantly annoyed, and feel like smashing your head off a wall; then this is the school for you! If you ask to many questions, then you're too concerned, which is an annoyance to the staff at this school. If you ask for further worksheets to help your child the answer is always no. Don't try to make your kid smarter, they hate that. The teachers here forward ALL emails to the principal. Sometimes the teacher responds, sometimes the principal calls. Disclaimer: when he calls it is to argue, be prepared. They are lazy here. Depends on if they like your opinion or not. Also beware this school does some pretty racist activities, like making books that say kids are brown, white, purple, blue...ect. You get the point. They don't find it inflammatory and don't expect an apology. You'll never get one. If you call the front office to this school, they never know anything. I'm constantly put on hold so they can go find someone else to ask and even then you may never get an answer. Also, if you want to know about your child's day to day activities (i.e. hourly schedule) don't ask, they will tell you it is in the newsletter (its not).

There is a lot I don't like about this school. I have two kids in school here. One of my kids were told to stay after school for tutoring when she wasn't supposed to and the school did not have my permission to keep my child after school. They did however call me as I was walking out the door to go pick my kids up from the bus stop to tell me she was still and school and told me it was a mistake and they were sorry. Then the very next week my oldest child was supposed to stay after school for tutoring the school even called me that morning to remind me she had tutoring. Well they sent her home that afternoon and I was not there to pick her up from the bus stop and she had to walk home. When I called the school her teacher blamed it on my child. She said my child should have known to stay. Really?! She's a child come on! Oh and they send home permission forms but it doesn't matter if you fill them out or not cause it seems the people at the school do what they want even if your child tells them their parents told them they couldn't participate and you signed the form not giving your child permission to participate.

My son is in kindergarten there and it seems like they watch a lot of TV. He hasn't had any home work since before spring break. He has no class calender. Pretty much not doing anything. The only reason he is doing as well as he is, is because we have him do home work our selfs. Really wish I could move him out of this school

I feel like there are some good teachers at cumberland Mills, but there are a lot of them who really just dont care about these Kids. You can tell that they dont care by how quickly they brush you off when you try to ask questions concerning your child. I always get the feeling that they're in a hurry for me to leave! The teachers talk bad about the kids to other teachers and parents. I know this to be true because one of the teachers tried to talk to me about a child! I was horrified to say the least. I just dont know what to say about this school except that several bad apples are ruining this school! I wish the administraters would stop looking the other way and giving these bad teachers a slap on the wrist! There are young childrens futures at stake here! I wish you guys would start acting like it.It's almost as if they think the parents wont notice whats going on.We do notice and we see and hear more than you think!
