As an recent graduate of of this hell hole I came on to inform all that they should NEVER ATTEND OLLS. Elementary school was okay but when it got to middle school it all fell apart. The woman who teaches math for 8th grade would go RIGHT up to your face to check to see if you have make up. She would make the girls go onto their knees and measure the length of their skirt, she hit me with a ruler on multiple occasions. The clap out, an 8th grade tradition, basically did not happen for us. I was trapped in a classroom with the door locked and guarded by the principle, we were told we were disappointments and failures to the school. Many of our family members had cleared there schedule to watch this just to find out we were all being held captive saying that we were not going to graduate. That's not all. The 8th grade science teacher..... she would get her lessons off google and make her tests from Chat GPT. When work was brought to a tutor we were told that this was college level. We were made out to be dumb and stupid if we asked a question to many of the teachers we were shamed. She would obliviously pick favorites and if you went on that list, you would be yelled at all day. the 7th grade history teacher would be absent more than she was present and get mad at US for being absent. We would would repeat worksheets multiple times throughout the year and when questioned about it she would trap us outside. Not only did she accuse me of cheating on a theology test for just fidgeting she made me retake the test and I got a 100 not sure why I would be cheating. she would take my water bottle and when I would say that it is MINE and my property I would get an infraction. My friends water bottle was taker by her while she was in detention cleaning out her messy room. Over all never go here unless you want to be entrapped.

I was so excited to attended OLLS but after three years it has been terrible. I struggled greatly with science and math and got no support from teachers. I struggled with mental health issues and was not supported by my teachers. The only reason I stayed at OLLS was because of my friends. The principal is not equipped to running a school and had zero clue what they are doing. Most teachers do not know what they are teaching, and get most worksheets off of Google. I cannot wait to leave. Teachers are not inclusive of students who are not Catholic. And the classrooms are disgusting!! Mold is all over the baseboards!!

OLLS is a traditional, family friendly environment in which students thrive. Everyone is treated equally and with respect. The staff encourage the students and challenge them. The work load is rigorous, but if students do their best they will be highly successful. The administration partners with parents to provide a holistic approach to education. Everyone is happy for the most part and feels like a big family. The sports and clubs are fun and there are a lot of opportunities for socialization.

Whatever you do, avoid this school for middle school. After three years, it cannot come to an end fast enough. While there are some teachers here that really care, this is completely overshadowed by the teachers that have some serious personality defects. Specifically the woman that teaches science in 7th & 8th grade. Not only does she have no idea what she is doing (she literally copies all of her plans from the internet), she seems to find some sadistic pleasure in making school life as difficult as possible for the students. From blatantly lying to mentally tortuous behavior, no one at the school will rein her in. Even after constant feedback to admin. Families with older children moving to high school are pulling their kids out. Avoid at all costs.

I have two daughters (4th and 6th grade currently) that have been at Our Lady of Lourdes School since Kindergarten. We have loved our experience at the school--my girls are held to a high academic standard and have had very good teachers. The teachers and administrators also foster a kind and supportive relationship among their students. The community has been wonderful and I met some of my closest friends at OLLS.

We love OLLS! We have 4 children that attend school here. The teachers are engaging, kind and supportive. My children are starting with a great faith-based learning experience. We have grammar instruction, cursive, and advanced levels in math. I believe that my children will be well prepared for high school. We also enjoy the Lourdes community, I appreciate that kids can participate in sports starting in 5th grade. Parents are very involved and hands on here. It is a small but wonderful environment for children. We have been very pleased.

We have two children who are currently students at OLLS and have been very pleased overall with our experience. There is a wonderful community atmosphere at this school where my children are known by name with staff and parents. We transitioned to OLLS from public school, and we have been very happy with the return to core academic subjects and skills. Our children are pushed academically while also being nurtured as children. I strongly feel my children will be well prepared for high school thanks to the academic rigor at OLLS along with the emphasis on learning study skills that support learning how to be a strong student. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for an affordable private school education with a good return on the investment.

We have been at OLL since 2020, having moved from another private school, and right away, we felt a strong sense of community that was missing from our previous school. While our journey has had its challenges, our overall experience has been positive, and I would recommend this school to other families.

Our first year was rocky due to the departure of our teacher mid-year, which led to some issues, including our son and others experiencing bullying. However, once the assistant teacher stepped in, she took immediate action, collaborating with the principal and the families involved to address the situation effectively. While I appreciated how swiftly they handled the bullying, I did wish we had been better informed throughout the process.

Transitioning into 1st grade, we had an exceptional teacher who provided consistency and support, making for a wonderful year. However, our 3rd year was a bit shaky as we had the assistant teacher again as our main teacher, who unfortunately played favorites, which didn't suit our son, who thrives in a balanced environment.

Now in our 4th year, we are thrilled with our teacher, who has made this year truly remarkable. What I cherish most are the friendships my son has formed and the connections we've built with other families. We continually find ways to engage our kids in sports, plan playdates, and create lasting memories together.

Despite the bumps along the way, our experience at OLL has been overwhelmingly positive, and we feel grateful to be part of this community.

The school is celebrating its 70th year this year. I have taught, subbed, and volunteered at our Lady of Lourdes for almost 20 years. My two children went through the school and had a very positive experience. The community feels like family, and the teachers love the children. I love how the school is centered on Christ and service. Every year, the eighth graders put on a passion play for the community. Fifth and first graders are buddies, and eighth grade and kindergarten are buddies, fostering close friendships across the grades. Field trips are fun and educational. Every grade does a service project every year. The church and the priest are excellent. I highly recommend the school and parish, too. I love to be there and always look forward to seeing the children.

Run don't walk away from OLLS for SO many reasons. Academics are subpar but that was the least of our worries. The culture is toxic. There is no accountability for the behavior of students. Bullying is rampant. DO NOT waste your money.

My students has been part of Lourdes since 2018. The school is a very welcoming community, all the teachers are very nice and the students attend mass once a week, were the homily is appropriate to their ages. The school also has won't many athletics awards and last year they got first place in almost every sport. Most of the teachers are very understanding and will work with the students in the areas they need help, but they encourage the student to learn to work independently specially in the higher grades. I will highly recommend the school to any family looking for a Catholic School with a sense of community, but more importantly a school with higher academic level than public schools.

I have been at Our Lady of Lourdes for the past 5 years. My experience has been very positive. They are inclusive of all students and families. Whenever there was an issue it was addressed appropriately by administration. I have found the staff very supportive.

If your zip code doesnt end in 08 or 09 forget about it!! The parents are completely uninterested in associating if you dont live inside the belt line. Im turn this leads to bullying of the outsiders. Administration is completely inadequate at dealing with issues that arise. I had such high hopes for this school and am utterly disappointed on all levels!

We transferred here in 2021 with hesitation because we are not Catholic. It was one of the best decisions weve made as parents, and now we have two there. I really wanted my children in public schools, but our oldest was not getting the attention, support and hands-on reading help she needed. We were in a mammoth-sized school and couldnt transfer despite best efforts. Our oldest was well behaved, so she was passed along despite her urgent need for more focused help. The teaching and academic expectations at OLLS are so much higher than we had in public school. And as a parent, Im actually informed on whats happening. I like the high expectations around behavior. I see negative reviews about middle school, and were playing that decision by ear, but I wanted to chime in and share how happy our family is for elementary. I do wish there was more diversity. Were seeking other avenues for that outside of school.

Coming from a student, the teachers show no support and instead of helping only criticize. When you talk or behave as an AVERAGE KID WOULD, you get threatened to be punished for your behavior, which is completely normal in a regular environment. I feel anything but safe and secured. I feel pressured and depressed and the only reason I don't request to transfer is because my friends are here and I only have a year left. Each day is draining, more than the last, and when we don't get through classwork, we have a packet for homework plus what we didn't finish in more than 3 classes all at once. The 7th and 8th grade middle school science teacher and 8th grade religion and social studies teacher verbally assaults the students instead of helping. I used to absolutely love this school but ever since our new principal made teachers leave and introduce new ones , I have enjoyed school less and less to the point where all I want to do is leave. Do not come to this school until it gets better!

Lourdes is a hidden gem in the middle of the best neighborhood in Raleigh. The families and staff are wonderful. They truly care about the children. There has been some turnover after Covid, but that has been nationwide. For the most part, the teachers are fantastic. The school wants parents involved and they partner with them for the benefit of the students. The environment is warm and friendly.

This school used to be such a treasure. The current priest and administration have ruined it. Middle School children are stressed and most are seeing outside tutors to get through. New teacher hires are based on church attendance with some not possessing teaching certificates. Books are being banned, children are verbally abused & the chaos is blamed on covid and teacher shortages. Teachers operate under a everyone is replaceable mantra and many have left. There has not been a 7th grade math teacher since 12/21.
Avoid at all costs.

As a student, Lourdes has not been great these past 2 years. I have been struggling in most subjects and I just wish that my teachers would step out and help me. I have told many teaches about the issue and don't seem to care very much which has been very frustrating, the only thing that keeps me going at this point is graduation.

No 7th grade math teacher, new science teacher already has a kid not coming back to school, principal is not equipped to run the school, priest uninvolved and uninterested. Teacher verbally abusive to kids. Only part time counselor, not really interested in the kids, just a bunch of adults trying to get by. Harsh, but true.

Things are in disarray at the Middle School.

The kids and family's at this school are all nice. The Faculty is horrible. The teachers spend way to much time handing out infraction slips than teaching. They care way to much about uniforms. Im not sending my kid back next year.

Our Lady of Lourdes is a super academic catholic school that is supported with a family style community to advance all of the students at the school. I have kids in 7th, 5th and 2nd grades and watch them excel with the well rounded teachers and staff. Highly recommended

Our family has been part of OLLS for over 11 years. We could not be happier with the amazing education our children have received while being a part of a warm, safe community. The teachers and staff of the school give 100% each and every day. We would highly recommend this school to anyone looking for the best combination of education and environment!

I want to tell what a lovely warm welcome that the Principal and her staff gave to us at our first school event. Our son is new to the school and change is hard for everyone, even spirited upbeat 10-year-olds and especially for tired, anxious 48-year-olds. I have been so impressed by the staff (the Director of Admissions and Director of Finance in particular) in their organization and responsiveness and and loved seeing the Principal and the Father mingling and welcoming all on Friday while we enjoyed our Kona ice and procured our eclipse glasses!!! And in the middle of all that to be handed a OLL "welcome to school" cup by a beaming Lourdes student was icing on the cake.

This school has been around for a long time. All of my children have gone or go here. The teachers are, for the most part, good at what they do. The principal is not friendly, bad at communicating and noncaring. The finance director runs the show at the school and has her hand in everything. This school is not very Christian in the way they treat their staff and they have lost 9 staff members in less than 6 months which is highly unusual. The parents are trying to put a good face on what is happening and most do not know what to do. Good teachers, great kids and parents, really poor administration.

The new administration is great! The children are treated with respect and taught in a nurturing classroom. The academics are strong and the children are well-rounded and spiritually grounded. We would recommend this school to any family who is Catholic or non-Catholic. It is a warm loving environment in which a child can thrive and be himself or herself!

We are fourth-year parents at Lourdes having recently relocated from out of state. The first three years have been excellent and our fourth was recently made even better by a particular over-the-top effort from the assistant principal. Our 3rd grade daughter was in a tough spot and the kindness, patience, and counsel that he offered was exemplary. His effort was more than one would expect and a tremendous help to our daughter when she needed it most. The staff and faculty have always been friendly and helpful and this most recent encounter only adds to our experience.

My husband and I both graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes more than 20 years ago and we could not be more thrilled to have our children attend the school now. The students are challenged academically and the teachers are very invested in their students. In addition to the outstanding academics and teachers, the school also fosters an environment for the students to grow socially and spiritually. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and I can not help but notice how happy the students are when I am there volunteering. Overall an amazing school community!

Great academics for my child and most teachers take the time with the students to make sure they understand the subjects. All that aside the principal, Sr. Mauree, seems to have a short temper, uninterested about some of the childeren at the school, and overall is very unpleasant. I also feel as if some of the teachers have personal issues they take out on their students. After this year I don't belive I will enroll my children at this school again. I wish the school board would find more professional staff.
