By far the BEST school in town - the rigorous academic curriculum, early introduction to college-style course/class transition, extensive elective offerings, strong cultural acceptance, individual attention to each student’s needs (academic, emotional, etc.), superior teacher population, and outstanding leadership cadre are just some of the positive aspects of FA; I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that ALL kids and families are safe and welcome here! Our daughter has attended FA since PreK and is now in 3rd grade; as a shy child, she has found confidence at FA and is maturing under the influence of amazing peers, teachers, and older/younger fellow students. FA offers scholarships and can be an affordable alternative to other local private schools, while allowing for a diverse and accepting environment - our kiddos is truly HAPPY here!!!

First, the positives:
The teachers, staff, programs, resources, and individual families at the school are unbeatable. When it comes to academics and student-focused culture, FA is the best. Classroom sizes in the lower-school are usually around 12 or less. The teachers are super professional and care a lot about our kids. There's a lot of legacy at this school and it does play a heavy role in the culture there (for better or worst). In opinion, it's the best school in town in for these reasons.

The school and its leadership have gone above and beyond to make it a safe place for our kids and our families during COVID. However, I had a frustrating time with the leadership between Summer and Fall 2020 (on both the admin and parent side). As much as they did to protect families, their policy gave teachers discretion on whether to wear masks or not. The classrooms are about 1200-1400 sq. ft. (visual estimate). For lower-school children, masks shouldn't be an option, as they move around A LOT. The school didn't require masks until the state mandated it in November/December.

RECOMMENDATIONS:
I absolutely recommend the school. Hands down, it's the best school in town.
I caution against enrolling elementary-aged children in a classroom that already has 10 kids in it during this pandemic.
Get involved early.
My bias isn't a good one for the current head of school when it comes to listening to a parent on financial aid, but he's gotten a lot done during his time here and he took a shot at the COVID issue even though a very important component of his policy went unchecked.

Unfortunately, this school is probably the best in Fayetteville, but that doesn't say much. There are some very good teachers at this school, but when there is a bad teacher nothing gets done about it. Many of the students come from very wealthy families and act very stuck up and entitled. Students are often treated differently by the school based upon who their parents are (how much money their family has) or if the student is an athlete. Extracurricular activities are very limited, most of the focus is on soccer, with other sports getting little attention. The school for sure has a preppy feel to it, and in my opinion it does not offer a genuine high school experience. Bullying is also very common at this school, and whether or not something is done about it again depends on who is doing the bullying. I think the school has great potential, and the toxic culture at the school is a real shame in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, academically speaking this is a good school. Whether or not that outweighs the issues that this school has is a matter of opinion I suppose.

My son has attended Fayetteville Academy from Pre K to his current 4th grade year. Not only has my son looked forward to attending school everyday, he has been celebrated for and encouraged in his gifts, and has been pushed and guided through his weaknesses. This is a school that challenges kids at every single level-if you have an academically gifted child, this school will find a way to challenge them. If you have a child who is struggling in any subject this is a school that will not allow them to fall through the cracks. I love this place as much as my son does. Its truly a family more than a school. We will be leaving Fayetteville for a few years, but as soon as we are back-were heading straight to the academy.

I am a graduate of this school and from the very start of my experience there, it became my "home away from home." From the caring, nurturing, and extremely gifted teachers, to the administration, staff, and coaches that I was in contact with daily, this school made a very real difference in my life and in the lives of so many of my classmates. I could not have been more prepared for success in college in just about every way possible. From first hand and personal experience, I can tell you that The Fayetteville Academy is the "gift of a lifetime" as far as I am concerned. It had a major impact on my life and played a huge role in making me the successful adult that I am and strive to be every day. I am incredibly grateful to my parents for sending me there. Thank you to all at Fayetteville Academy. Always and forever proud to be an Eagle!

My son attended Fayetteville Academy PK-12th grade. The Academy helped prepare my son, who has since graduated, to prepare for college. The school is by far the best in Fayetteville and in my opinion the best in North Carolina.The teachers and the administration are always extremely polite and helpful. For all the years our child attended the Academy, the only problem my wife and I had was with the high school algebra teacher. She never taught and said the students must teach themselves and be “independent learners”. The administration refuses to do anything about it since they are personal friends. Outside of this, the school is wonderful and offers not only great academics but athletics, art, and music as well. Varsity teams always make the state playoffs so this is a great school if your child is an athlete. Many of the teachers hold doctorate and masters degrees in their subject which of course helps.

You don't know what you don't know. My kids spent k-5 in the Public School System and had outstanding marks. They started at this school and have struggled to maintain Honor marks. The kids are learning how to be better organized, how to plan long & short range due the taxing work load, and how to appreciate the diverse group of students. I wish I could go back & have this opportunity.

Although there is a great financial aid program, it is still very expensive, especially for more than one child; however, it is worth it! We have had some amazing teachers and the new headmaster and head of lower school are extremely friendly and welcoming. I love this school, and, although I have had some issues with the efficacy of the guidance counselor here, I still believe this school to be academically superior.

The Fayetteville Academy is an okay school. The teachers are excellent. The class sizes are very small. The kids however are very stuck-up and preppy. You can tell some of these kids have never worked for anything in their lives and have just had everything handed to them. I am sad to say that they don't get to experience what is really happening in the real world because the have a safety net of their family's money to catch them if they mess up. Not everyone her is like that, but most of them are.

Fayetteville Academy has met and exceeded every expectation we had hoped for. What may surprise some, is what a warm and welcoming environment exists. The school talks about the Fayetteville Academy family/community and the staff/teachers/adminsitrators live up to this. The communication from staff is fantastic. I have recieved emails from staff on Saturday evening! Academics are clearly the best in this region as SAT scores and scholarships objectively attest to. But all kids have the opportunity to participate in sports (over 80% of high school), band, arts such as drama, mock trial, lego robotics, and much more. There truly is something for everyone. I would like to echo how impressed we have been with the diversity of the school and different backgrounds of students, especially the number of military families.

We have found the Fayetteville Academy to be academically rigorous and to provide excellent opportunities for our children to reach their full potential in the class room as well as in other activities. The teachers have the flexibility to teach students without excessive interference from the administration. We think that is why so many of the teachers have been there for so long! We have found it to be unique in unexpected ways, the honor code system seems to actually work here. Our child has no lock on her locker. It is a place where high school students seem to get along with middle school and lower school students! The school is consistent in having high expectations for our student whether in the class room or participating in other activities. We are also pleased with how diverse the school is. It is definitely not a "country club" type of private school. The kids seem to have all sorts of backgrounds which we find to be a beneficial environment for us. We researched all the other schools in town and have found the FA to be a great investment for the future of our kids!

Academically speaking, this school FAR exceeded our expectations compared to Cumberland County Schools. I have personally seen the school remove a student because of behavior. The teachers have the utmost respect for the children and treat them as teachers should. You can't go wrong choosing Fayetteville Academy.

Run!!! This school is all show. When it comes to grades and test score my child was 2 grade levels below her grade. If you search this school just had administration turn over due to failing scores. They were threatened to be sued if they didn't remove all administration. Over priced and now my child is failing in public school. Any child who starts failing they will kick them out that's why they say 100% go to college. My child is so damaged by this school. Don't let it fool you. They also tell parents their children have add or ADHD if they start doing bad. 5 out of the 10 in our class were told that. They hold no responsibility for their actions and blame the parents. Child went there for 5 years.

This is our 2nd year at Fayetteville Academy having moved here for Middle and High school. The education these children are getting far exceeds my expectations and doesn't even come close to the lack of education the public school is offering. We couldn't be more pleased.

Our daughter has attended Fayetteville Academy since preschool and will be a senior. What a wonderful experience we have had. This school has not only prepared my daughter for college but for life as well. It is like having a second family. I would strongly recommend this school. It is the best gift you could ever give your child.

We could not be happier with the choice to send our children here. Fayetteville Academy has, by far, the highest academic standards in the area. The school also offers successful sports programs, a fantastic choral & art program, and caring teachers. Although this is a private school, FA avoids catering to and relenting under the "privileged and popular" local families that the public schools are forced to deal with. There is NO bullying tolerated at this school. We have found the students (new students and students that have always gone here), as well as their parents, to be very welcoming. This school is outstanding.

My daughter enrolled in the Fayetteville Academy after a year at Jack Britt HS and Massey Hill Classical, where she had struggled. Many parents in the Fayetteville area who are unfamiliar with Fayetteville may look to the test scores of Jack Britt, Terry Sanford, etc., and feel they can get their child properly educated with minimal cost. In my personal experience, the social problems at the public schools in Fayetteville are far worse than portrayed by the district. The Academy is the antithesis: excellent, no-excuses, no-compromise academic standards and instruction, an environment of achievement, and very few 'delinquent' pressures. The tuition is the most reasonable in the entire Southern US for the education you and your kids are getting. I kick myself for not enrolling both my children here full time!

We transferred our child here in 5th grade from another private school. This move has been the best decision we could have possibly made for my child s education. The Academy is superior in teaching a curriculum that is advanced from most other institutions. They are skilled in balancing learning the essentials and providing an array of enrichment classes. From Art to Taekwondo, from Spanish to soccer, there seems to be something for every child at this school. After seeing what all the younger classes get to experience, our only regret is that we didn t start this school sooner.

We just started FA this year in PreK. We pulled our children from another local private school and couldn't be happier with our decision!! The teachers are warm and loving. The kids love going to school. Small class size, challenging and fun academics which lays the foundation of a love for learning. Worth every penny!!!!!

This school is by far the best choice in Cumberland County. It features small class sizes, caring, educated teachers, and excellent academic programs. But more importantly, the school has been dedicated to becoming even better - over the past few years they have added many new AP classes, a director of academic affairs position, new math and reading programs at the lower school level, and begun teaching new "competencies" to get our children ready for the 21st century. This is a great school!

Excellent school my kids love it both of them. the only downfall is the cliques that seem to be hard for some kids to deal with or be welcomed into.
