We based where we wanted to live on the high school for our son and daughter. We moved here from Washington during COVID. The middle school and high schools were extremely easy to deal with, in getting the transfers completed. My kids love JBHS! The superior educational opportunities for AP and college-level classes were extremely important. The teachers and administration are great. You won’t be disappointed.

I learned from the school and another parent that their daughter's butt was slapped by another student (boy). The school principal(s) & deputy denied calling it a sexual assault. video footage was confirmed, and their daughter while protecting herself by pushing and yelling at this kid got her in school suspension (ISS). I don't agree with punishing good people for protecting themselves against others who act on negative intentions. hope this helps.

Great High School. Our Son attend this school for 4 years. All his teachers were good as were his counselor and the principal. He was college ready and got into NCSU. His best teacher who went beyond was his chemistry teacher.

I do not recommend sending your child here, especially if they have mental disabilities/illnesses or a learning disability. The teachers here do not care that your child has to learn a different way, they don't care if your child breaks down or has a panic attack. They won't care, all this school cares about is it appearance and the grades.
So no, I will never recommend this school to anyone.

watched the principal tell a student their religion (paganism) was invalid and they had to take their veil off. also watched a trans student get threatened with suspension if they used the lockerrooms

This has been the worst school we have ever been to. My child was treated with disrespect by two of the teachers here. The school board did nothing about it. I have to find another place for my child, because this school did not want to help. This school blatantly broke federal laws and got away with it. I have spoken with teachers who have told me they will not send their own child here because they don't trust them. I suggest you try private school or online private school. If you have a choice don't move to North Carolina!

A very poor choice for a school. Counselors and staff often gossip about their students within earshot. Disabled students struggle to have their IEPs met. Especially from honors and AP classes. Teachers directly tell their students they are bothersome. School does not handle bullying nor sexual harassment whatsoever, instead keeping students in the counseling center as opposed to disciplining bullies. The gifted students are given incredible amounts of work and are graded harsher than any college course I have taken. This school did not prepare me for college, instead instilling a fear I had to unlearn. This school encourages perfection in academics and does not accept making mistakes.

I have 3 children going through JBHS, they each are different with different needs. I have found the administration to be responsive to my concerns. I have emailed teachers that my kids were having issues with or struggling in their classes and have had prompt responses and meetings that were set up with the teacher and the kids counselors. The administrators have also shown compassion and empathy when my family experienced hardship. They reached out to my children individually to see if they needed anything while dealing with the bad news. My kids are all coming out of school confident, knowledgeable, goal oriented, and with direction for their future success.

I believe the homework is excessive. Some teachers post work on Edmodo in the middle of the night or early morning on weekends (Sunday nights) and Holidays. The kids need a break, stop pushing busy work on them. Use the 90 minutes 5 days a week to teach what needs to be taught. Homework should be school nights only!!

The school supports clubs such as the key club and sga that require volunteer hours. This brings awareness to the student and experience of giving back to the local community. The school sponsors philanthropic activites such as food drives.

Any time I have needed to address a situation they have guided me to communicate with the teachers, they also check to ensure my issues are addressed., but encourage communication between the parents and the teachers.

The school makes sure to integrate special needs children with other kids through mentoring and the student assistant program. The special needs classes have minimal students in the classroom, 5-10 students at the most.

The overall experience that I have had with this school over the last 7 years has gone from superb to sh*t. My children are thankful to have a parent as such, because I do not sit back quietly. I have had to go to the County regarding the EC program, and this simply should not be. Prior Principals and leadership were great. Currently, the school is under a leadership that appears to not have the students best interest at hand.

The school effectively gives homework. On weekends, breaks, holidays...etc. Because the teachers have so much on them, they must put alot on the children.

Very few teachers email back. Even when administration is involved, the only care is that the school not be held accountable. The care for the students are very minimal.

From my personal experience, with 2 children coming up through the EC program, I had to stay on top of them more than a parent should. IEP's do not get followed, and students fail due to modifications not being adhered to.

They will not call anything "bullying." The leadership is designed to look at situations, and find ways around using the term "bully." My child had a clear case of bullying, however, it was reduced to "kids being kids."

My son is struggling in math and all he writes on the progress report is that he recommends tutoring. He doesn't follow up with his recommendation by sending an email or a phone call to the parent.

The school is mainly concerned about the dress code and not the issues the kids have. My daughter is being bullied but once it was noticed decided that putting them in the room together would make it that much better for the both of them. They should have called the parents.

They may have an effective approach to it but do not inform the parents about it. Most teachers don't accept late work which I think is something that should be reviewed on a case by case situation.

I have tried to continuously get in contact with the teacher my son is having difficult with and received no feedback. I also had my daughter go to him and ask about tutoring for my son as he recommended because my son is too timid to ask and he also was unavailable. I understand that there are plenty of children to one teacher but I am trying to work with all of them from flunking my son but it seems they don't care. If you don't like your job then look else where, don't avoid the situation with the kids because parents do care about their children's education.

When moving to Fayetteville all I heard was how great this school was, what a joke! My son has a 504 and getting the staff there to comply was ridiculous! The communication was horrible, they don't return phone calls or emails. There was one lady in the front office who always went above and beyond to help out but other than that everyone was rude and obviously didn't care. Their priorities are their high test scores and the dress code. Maybe you need to focus a little more on communication and at least act like you care. Thankfully our time in Fayetteville is over and I'm so glad to be done with them.

Horrible Special Ed program. Large number of kids contained in a small classroom. My son had many suspensions. New school for 8 months, not a single suspension or disciplinary action. $ for kids with disabilities not available.

The new leadership Mr.Pope seem to have no sympathy or compassion for his students. He only cares about himself and how his numbers look. The school under his leadership has went down to a one star school.

Move to this school area thinking it was a great school but have come to find out this school is not. They seem to worry more about dress code then school work. A plus honor student but if your daughter has a shape dress them in sweat pants only anything else she is fat and should not wear it.

we moved to the area from colorado, for the most part schools were not geared for a political reason just an education. Please be advised that the scores you see when you look this school up online, is fabricated much as the unemployment rate. We are currently looking into private schools. this is a dishonest school district and county board. Run away as fast as you can. terrible terrible school.

I've only had great experiences with the school staff and my child has enjoyed her time there. This is a great school if you are going for education first and have a desire to go to college. Your desires can be met if you apply her self to do your best and have self respect as well as respect for others. You get out of life and the universe what you put out, negative or positive actions......................

There are a select few teachers that are great at teaching, the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, the rest of the administrators are rude and very confrontational. The rules are also arbitrary. This year I had part of my finger smashed off leaving me with an open fracture wound for a week. I got a pass for the elevator because I couldn't have people bumping into it while I try to navigate the overcrowded hallway. While getting on to the elevator, I held it for a boy who was on crutches and this teacher yells at me to get off. I told her why I was on it, and she responded with "Yeah right" and got on without even giving me the chance to show her my pass. I did get bumped, and it was painful. Dress code is supposed to be in place to keep students from wearing clothing that is distracting, inappropriate, and a danger in any way. I feel as though it is more of a game for the administrators. I got sent to ISS for wearing a high low skirt that had a sheer top and a slip underneath. The sheer top went well below my knee and the slip was 2.6 inches away from the knee. The best part, I had a change of clothes in my backpack and they still made me call my parents and sit in ISS for a day. In gym, some of the girls wear shorts that should be considered underwear because their cheeks hang out. Their rule about gym bags is also ridiculous, the plastic bags get torn and I end up having to carry all of my stuff by hand. I've lost shorts while doing so, and I dropped my bra while going downstairs a few times. I don't understand how you can allow girls to carry oversized purses and not allow mesh bags. The students here are extremely disrespectful to both the teachers and their peers. And the administration does NOTHING about it. A whole semester was wasted because a few students kept disrupting the class.

This school does not live up to its "honor school" standards. The staff is very unprofessional and students are disrespectful and bully one another. There is a lot of drama that goes on at this school and they try to sweep everything under the rug here. Academics are not what comes first here, it is always sports. Athletes get away with a lot and students who don't do sports are looked down upon. I would not recommend this school to anyone especially if you are not an athlete!

We are a military family and moved to this area, for we heard the schools were top notch. We have had a great experience with some of the teachers at the school, but the coaches and administration are something completely different. This school is a 'political' school, if you know the right people you will get further especially in sports. If you are military hope, that you do not have to move mid semester for the lack of help and support, especially from the top is just the added stress that you need. If I had the choice I would not move anywhere in the Cumberland County School system for there are major problems with this school district that the Superintendent has and will continue to cover up.

Our family choose this school based on the ratings and unfortunately we have been let down. They have some great talent and academically active students but not enough positive mentors. The administrative dispite having several complaints on the same teachers and coaches that have repeatedly broken school violations have contined to be allowed to keep their postions. Their poor judgment proved that the behavior of those in charge directly and negatively impacts our young adolescents. They have complete disregard to the moral exemplar test that the teachers, coaches, and administration are suppose to be held to a higher standard.

Jack Britt is rated 8 on Great Schools list but it only has a 12% college readiness rating which I feel is very sad indeed. Algebra and English are not even rated. There are a few teachers that DO NOT seem to perform too well but still have jobs. The Principal needs to be replaced. The CHEATING needs to be stopped. CHEATING is rampant throughout the school. Even some in the top 10% of the students of the senior class are CHEATERS. I am all for teachers getting a better pay check, but the system really should drop the bad apples.

Jack Britt is the cream of the crop! The teachers, staff, and administration are very professional and knowledgeable with their field of study. There is absolutely no reason why any student should feel left out or alone. There are probably 100 or more different clubs and organizations that student's can be a part of. If student's feel isolated, it may be because of there choice! I have two children that graduayed from Britt. Both received scholarships to college. Jack Britt really prepared them for the next level in education. Mrs. Garrison is awesome and she has an awesome staff! We are truly blessed to be a part of this excellent school!

If you haven't seen the movie Pump up the Volume it is a must see before you send your child to this school. Out of state educators and substitute teachers I have talked to say it is one of the worst schools they have ever experienced. I am also appalled at the stories I hear from the many students I have talked to. These stories are of course about some of the administrators and a few teachers and it brings their morality in to question.

I have two kids at JB a freshman and a junior. The teachers are approachable and courteous. The staff and principal are all on one accord. There are numerous programs for any student from athletics to theatre and art. The school is just an Excellent all around and the environment breeds success

My kids have been at Jack Britt for two years, now. I love this school, and so do they. The teachers and administration are committed to making sure students succeed. There is a contagious sense of pride in excellence in many areas. My one complaint has been that the choral program was mediocre, but they are getting a new choir director, so I am hoping that department will soon live up to the level of excellence that the rest of the school offers.

I am sorry to say this is not as great as they make it out to be. For all you military personnel, the place to live is the up and coming Hoke County. They are building hospitals and a lot more. There are some beautiful houses there and brand new schools that hand pick there teachers like Don Steed. People try to say this is the best district but it is not.

Just checking out school reviews. I see this schools reviews are ok not the best. I see a lot of complaints concerning the administration which is really NOT a good thing.I do not have children attend this school , I am merely just checking out the reviews and seeing what needs improvement!

I am very impressed with this school and the commitment demonstrated by the principal and the staff. I find the principal approachable and very personable. The only issue I could possibly come up with on the down side is the traffic. Parents picking up children must pass through the students parking lot when school lets out; one entrance and exit is problematic.
