The administration does not give punishment to those who break the code of conduct repeatedly, but will expel someone for pushing too hard. Buses may be late due to severe shortages of bus drivers and half of the teachers left the school over the summer. Most of the teachers are encouraging and teach well and I personally find most of them engaging.

I went here throughout middle school, and it was like being locked into a torcher chamber in hell. It was horrible, unsafe, with clueless and careless teachers. If you have a kid, homeschool them, move, do something. But I highly recommend you not to make your child go through what me and multiple other kids had to go through.

Being new to Moyock Middle school I am so impressed with the administration the kids and the support from the community. I would recommend it highly and give it two thumbs up administration, especially takes pride in the school and building better people. The education standards are high, and the faculty is friendly and engaging, not all parents will agree, but that’s the nature of education

Staff are rude and aggressive , and the safety of these kids are not properly being met!

Great school! The set of 6th grade teachers are amazing! The librarian is pretty strict, but she's very helpful. I would recommend this school over Currituck Middle.

Not a good first impression! Went in to meet with the assistant principal for a scheduled tour. While waiting, we overheard the assistant principal complaining to another staff member about having to give another tour. We probably should have left right then. Assistant principal comes out and begins the tour. She seemed bored and disengaged. She barely acknowledged my child. I inquired about honors classes to see if they were comparable to ones my child is currently enrolled in. She seemed offended by the question. Didn't explain anything about honors classes, electives, curriculum etc. Talked more about the in school suspension classroom than anything else. Strange considering my child is an straight A honor student. Never mentioned any clubs, extracurricular activities, field trips, school plays or special events. Never saw a science lab or an art room so I don't know if they have one. Ending the tour with some vague references to an orientation and that was it. Unable to speak to a guidance counselor about scheduling. I was told the counselor didn't work during the summer!? Also unable to get in touch with the person who does placement testing. I have left several messages since May and have never gotten a response. So I have no idea what classes my child will be taking. Not sure how the schools in this area are going to handle influx of new students due to all the new housing developments going up. Definitely rethinking the move down here!

Outstanding School!
Our oldest started going to MMS this year. MMS has helped him move in an upward trend in test scores this year so it seems the current administration is doing something right. MMS has been a great school for our son. My wife and I have never been unwelcomed in the school, we are very active in our children s education and we visit the school often. Every teacher has been friendly that we have seen and have interacted with, and they have always had the best intentions for our child's educational interests. The teachers have been terrific and encourage our child to learn. This year has been very rewarding. Our son loves his new school. I would highly recommend MMS to any family thinking about moving here.

This school has an excellent teaching staff and principal. Both of my sons excelled here. The youngest is in the honors classes and the eldest was more than prepared for high school honors and AP classes. I highly recommend this school.

The only problem I have had with this school is the libraian she has no place there !

Terrible communication from the start! We moved here during the summer. My son and I attended the orientation (or so they like to call it that) it was more like total Chaos. While I was there the assistant principle informed me that instead of standing in the long line to find out his bus number that they posted it on their website. So when I got home low and behold our address was no where to be seen. I called the secretary and she told me that they do not do door to door pick ups well we live off of a VERY busy road so I called transportation who then informs me that they do for the busy roads. Great bus driver!! Because they don't take responsibility for their actions I am sad to say this was just the beginning.
