I have been pleased with the school for the most part amidst certain doubts as no school is perfect, and because there are some amazing teachers there. However, there's also an emotionally abusive teacher there that hasn't been trained, cautioned nor properly dealt with by the school. Concerns of him targeting a particular child, because his ego was bruised from the child's parent's suggestions to make boy's scouts more productive and fun have not been properly investigated nor handled by the school. This affected my rating for safety, accommodations for special needs (same teacher was overheard claiming he would "break" a child with ADHD, socio emotional support etc. I have observed the good teachers use patience, wisdom, affection and positivity when interacting with the kids, but that particular man is a major cause for concern as he yelled excessively, mocked a child and purposefully intended to hurt the child's feelings.
The school doesn't use any form of technology to communicate important announcements and updates, not even EMAIL! This is very inefficient and frustrating for parents, especially when we need to know about school closings and have to contact each other just find out the latest update. The lack of technology and lack of effective communication was reason enough for me to leave last year, but we had teachers that were individually committed to upholding higher academic, socio-emotional standards and communicated sufficiently. However, due to the recent issue of emotional abuse they are hoping to "sweep under the rug", we will be leaving very soon and encouraging others to do so. It seems the Principal and pastor has several staff that are relatives and he's unable to be impartial in decision making that affects the safety and morals of the school.

This school is great because the children continue to be challenged on their level both academically and spiritually. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that lines of communication are maintained between parents and teachers. The love for the children is displayed through the staffs interaction with the children. Both my daughters math, and english skills were greatly enhanced due to the skills they developed from attending New Life Christian Academy

My son attending Seventy-First I noticed that he was becoming withdrawn and quiet. Went from an A and B student to bringing home D's and F's. I decided to put him in New Life Academy. Within the first week I have seen a tremendous improvement in his attitude as well as his grades, which are now A's and B's. They may not be a well known Cumberland County School but they teach on the nationally known Abeka progam and its a smaller setting. I love it. I have just took out my other child from middle school and he is now attending New Life as well.
