Village Christian Academy is a great school. The teachers are caring and teach solid Christian values. The teachers attend the students sporting events, dances and other activities to show their support. The administration is wonderful and very welcoming and supportive of their families and students. VCA has been a blessing for our family.

As far as learning disabilities go, Village will accept them. However when it comes to learning styles village is unwilling to cater to all.

Going to Village was the worst decision I’ve ever made and it singlehandedly ruined school for me. I pray to God I never have to walk back in this building ever again.

It does not follow biblical requirements. Tom Rider wanted to increase enrollments by building a bigger football program stacking the team to win the championship. Epic failure.

My daughter has attended VCA for 3 years and I wouldn't think of putting her any place else. Not only is she performing at an above average grade level but most importantly I feel like my age is prayed for, loved, and safe.

Have had only one teacher that was a positive influence on my child and made a difference. They rest were very critical and unforgiving of any mistakes and failed to guide, very negative about student when asked. Teachers do not like you to talk to them outside their class time without an appointment. They do not like to be questioned.

The teachers are not fair. They have favorite students usually from one or two well to do families that give money to the school. The students try to live by biblical standard and do well, but many teachers are not fair nor is the administration. When I mean not fair, they give a favorite student extra time on a test and not all the students.

The focus of this school has changed in the last several years. Enrollment is down. Many church members no longer enroll their children, including us. The teachers and administration say they are focused on the well being of your child when they are so focused on picking apart your child. Finding fault with your child and making the child feel they have done wrong when they are nothing more than God's children growing and learning. We have since found many other families with similar problems of the children being pressured and so stressed it is an un-healthy environment. We looked for a Christ centered nurturing environment for our children and found this school lacking very much. The school is not supportive of the military family. We even heard members of the PTO talk about not wanting any families from the state voucher program because it would bring in a "poor" element that the school did not want. They say all the right things to get you in, but when it comes time for academic review if your child has a C then you are encouraged to look for "medical causes" and medicate your child for "better academic success". Disappointed in the church for loosing its focus on the well being of the child and allowing a church based school to get out of hand. Look for other Christian School that support your child as a whole person and want to help them grow and learn and develop their God given talents. Talk with other parents BEFORE writing your check.

My son loves this school. He jumps up in the morning and is excited about getting there. I feel that we made a great choice in furthering his education.

I am proud to say that I have 2 children currently enrolled at VCA, and I couldn't be more happy!!! The entire staff at VCA have my children's best interest at heart and treat them like family. I would recommend VCA to anyone who wants not only a wonderful education for their child but also anyone who yearns for their child to have a relationship with God!

My children have attended VCA for 3 years and they love it. The administration and teachers are great. They really have the children's interest at heart. If you have any concerns the administration address it quickly. I have two children who learn completely differently and the school works for both.

My children have loved Village Christian Academy. They started in elementary school. One has graduated from high school and is doing very well in college. Another is in high school now also being prepared for college.

The teachers are caring and the administration has a Christian vision. The school provides academic excellence with a Christian worldview.

We would highly recommend VCA. Go Knights!

As a parent , I am shocked at the previous post. Both of my children have attended VCA since Kindergarten and are now in middle school and high school. My daughter is one who is very athletic and did not make the volleyball team the first year she was eligible, but she decided to put her efforts into cross country and has made all-conference every year. VCA tries to include every student and family in everything they do. VCA has a large military population and the goal is always to support those who are serving our county. VCA offers many academic as well as extra-curricular programs. They offer AG, Honors and AP classes as well as Academic Enrichment for the students who may need extra support. My children have been involved in all of these programs. VCA is not perfect, but the goal is to always grow spiritually, academically, emotionally and socially. It is a wonderful school and choosing VCA provides the pathway for the future success of your children. You and your children will be blessed by coming to this school.

Perhaps if your child starts Pre K and stays at this school, it may be a decent school but this is not the case for new students who are in the middle and high school levels. New parents should be warned. The building is nice and the teachers appear pleasant however this school has a closed nit group. If you think you re tween/teen child can come to VCA and join clubs, play sports, be active think again! Many teachers and coaches are the parents of the kids who get picked for teams or are on student council, it s just that simple. Military families who are here for a few years should keep looking. Unfortunately, I didn t know anyone here and had to find this our the hard way. After my kids tried out for several teams and activities and witnessed the same group of kids getting picked over and over, they got discouraged. I did my best to keep them active with the local theater and dance studio and am so glad the year is over. We are not re-enrolling.

Could not ask for a better environment for my children than what we have experienced at Village Christian Academy! The staff continues to amaze me with their genuine love and concern for the students both academically and spiritually. The curriculum is appropriately challenging and up to date technology is used regularly in the classroom. Would recommend this school to anyone.

My daughters started VCA in Kindergarten and my oldest is a Senior. I have been very pleased with the school, teachers, and administration. My daughter was accepted into all three colleges she applied for and feels prepared for college. I would recommend this school to all of my friends.

We have 3 children at Village Christian Academy and have attended since 2005. We could not be happier. I feel that our children are receiving an excellent education and would be prepared for anything they might choose to do after high school. The teachers and staff are extremely caring and go above and beyond daily for our children. I especially am appreciative of the consistency of our family's beliefs with what is taught in the classroom. I also like the fact administration seems committed to constantly analyzing and adapting programs to students' needs. Great school!!!

My 5th and 3rd graders have been attending VCA since kindergarten, and we couldn't be happier. They have been challenged academically, encouraged spiritually, and blossomed socially due to their teachers, their peers, and the environment. The teachers are professionals who are able to see their students as individuals, teach to their levels and show personal attention to them. I truly appreciate this place and the people.

My daughter attended the high school for 4 years. The teachers welcomed her. They are kind and compassionate, truly caring about her academic, as well as her spiritual growth. VCA offers standard, honors, and AP classes, and all are challenging. High expectations for behavior and academics!

All three of my children graduated from Village Christian Academy. My children have been gifted in different areas, and VCA allowed them to shine in their own area. They all were able to go to their top college choice, and because of the wide range of AP classes available received college credit to help allay costs and time required to graduate! Just to encourage parents who worry that a "smaller" school might hinder their college entry chances, here are some of the schools my children were accepted into: Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, Appalachian State University, University of Georgia, UNC-Wilmington, Western Carolina. Village Chrisitian Academy is the BEST school my four children have attended over a span of ten years and five states. We are at Ft. Bragg and VCA has welcomed us with open arms. The academics are rigourous and the support for our military from the leadership has been AMAZING! Thanks VCA!

This will be our second year at Village. We have a 3rd grader as well as an 8th grader and have been extremely pleased. As a teacher in public school I have seen Village as having a great curriculum a as well as the athletics program. The teachers have been amazing and the administrstion is always professional. I can tell as a whole the school has my children's best interest at heart and our kids are very happy at Village. We do not go to church here and have truely had a great experience. Dr. Hales, Ms.Clarke as well as the teachers have been a blessing in our lives.

As one of the few students attending the school on welfare, I felt constantly judged for the teachers' contempt of poor and homeless people. I could understand their uniform policy (even though I disliked it), but could not for the life of me understand why we couldn't wear non-school jackets indoors. In retrospect, I think it was just to get more money out of its students. The education was of poor quality. You hear everywhere that private schools prepare you better than public schools do. This was utterly false; at least for this school. I was the top 5% of my class at this school. At public school, I was probably around the top 50%. VCA hadn't prepared me for the real world - or even for high school. All they taught was why fundamentalist Christians were better than everyone else. I even felt safer at public schools because they didn't discriminate against people in poverty or tolerate hate against Islamic/queer/non-Christian people. They also participated in gender discrimination, forcing boys to wear belts, tuck in their shirts, and keep their hair short, while girls didn't have to. Clearly Village cares much more about forcing their views than about educating its students.

Village Christian Academy, legitimate school or underground Seattle-style coffee house? Sure, this school could be a decent learning environment with capable extracurricular activities(except for football, lets be real), but on the other hand, couldn't it also just be one gigantic coffee house serving cappuccinos and mochas? Maybe its an average if not slightly below average school in Fayetteville, but do you really want to risk accidentally sending your child to what is in actuality a Starbucks or Port City Java with thousands of square feet of space complete with a gym shaped sitting area and gardens closely resembling athletic fields? I didn't think so. Maybe try the Fayetteville Academy or Fayetteville Christian, though who are we kidding, those are likely both massive Family Dollars in disguise.

Once upon a time... A very good school. Today? Pose the question to the head administrator, "What happened to many of your teachers from 2010 to 2013? Why have so many left? Under what circumstances? What makes you uniquely Christian? Beware my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. Even remote associations with previous teachers will place you in an awful situation of disrespect and embarrassment. It's unfortunate that so many harbor such hatred for others. I only say this because it happened today to my friend by a school secretary. It's so sad that a Christian school is only Christian by name and not in theirs actions.

Village Christian Academy is an amazing opportunity for Christian families that want their kids to have a challenging academic experience as well as a great sports program in a safe environment. After three years we could not be happier. The teachers we have had are down to earth and seem to truly care for students. We love the online informative renWeb that allows parents to track progress and keep up with homework, grades,school activities etc. The school community of faculty and involved parents creates a wonderful family feel that we have not experienced elsewhere. The success of graduating seniors and scholarships awarded are proof that our dollars are worth the sacrifice. I recommend VCA every chance I get. We are truly grateful parents.

I absolutely love almost everything about this school. My daughter struggled in the public school system for a while. She is a very bright little girl with a high IQ, but also has the tendency to be a perfectionist. Apparently she was a bit too much for the teachers to handle. I have always been a supportive parent, and welcomed all suggestions, yet the only option offered at her old school was Section 504 (student with disabilities), which would pretty much label her as a "special needs" child and most likely single her out. The staff at Village, on the other hand, welcomed her with love, patience and encouragement. She is currently in AG classes, and is definitely being academically challenged. I love the balance between high academic standards and spirituality. Now, the only thing I have yet to get used to would be the non stop fundraisers. I understand that they support many ministries, and somehow have to fund ongoing projects (i.e. football field), but I am just not used to so many at a time. Overall, a great environment and supporting staff!

We love VCA. Our children have experienced the difference between public school and a Christian education. There is no other place we would be. Even when financial upheaval hit our family, we made it a priority to be at Village.

When you get a school where the parents run it instead of the educators you get the same result. Sub Standard education. It is very disappointing when you know the Public Schools hold students to a higher standard. Public schools have to follow State Standards. Private schools don't and as a parent you have to be careful. Is this a private school for the kids that cannot handle the curriculum elsewhere? It is going down that road. Students do not have to work for their grades. They are given As just for being in the school. Sounds nice but your child will not know anything and not be prepared for college. The good teachers that try to uphold high standards usually don't last. They get bullied out of the school.

My child attended VCA for 8 years, we started at the school when it was just in its infancy - that was when it was the type of school we wanted. I feel 8 years is a valid amount of time to give you an honest opinion of the substantial decline. The school has shifted its priorities from academics and religeon to athletics which is obvious by the giant billboard in the parking lot soliciting funds for the new football field (coincidentally the varsity FB team lost every game last year and the JV lost all but one). We finally had enough this past year and have pulled all of our children out. Village's best days are far behind. They have zero standards for admission to the school other than a parent's open checkbook. Limited class size in non-existant. Discipline is not readily enforced unless the issue is pushed. Having the children go to "chapel" one day a week and Bible class is just their version of going through the motions to maintain the "Christian" portion of their name. Bullying and materialism are rampant. Respect is considered not necessary by the student body. There is no relationship between the church and the school which is very obvious. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!

My son has gone to here for two years - the first year was good the second year was absolutely horrible. Multiple students were expelled due to bringing weapons to school & other offenses. The school also has MAJOR issues with favoritism & the students know it. If a parent volunteers alot or parent is a teacher, then child is hardly ever disciplined & rarely gets in trouble. Other children get disciplined but not to the extent that this school is well controlled. Teachers are good but not very organized, they do not post grades in a timely manner nor do they update the parents when students are struggling. Now the grading system in my opinion is very poor, I am paying for my child to get an above than average education & personally this is average. Everyone is NOT an A/B student but over 75% of the students are on the A/B honor roll. This tells me the curriculum is not hard enough to challenging 75% of the students. If I didn't want my child challenged then I wouldn't pay money for him to go to school (that's what public school is for). This is probably the one issue that disturbs me the most. Average school but not great school. I cannot recommend this school to anyone.

I put my kids at Village because I was let down by the scores at the public schools. I love the teachers overall but the administration has some issues. They do not address problems like bullying and drugs at the school. Even if a complaint is made, they try to skirt the issue and pretend it doesn't exist. The school office is HARD to reach during the day. I have called many times with no answer and no return call for hours. It's a good thing they weren't emergencies. Academics are comparable to a GOOD public school. Teachers show true concern and compassion for the students.

Village Christian Academy is one of the best schools I have put my daughter in. I pulled her out of public school, and placed her into Village. My daughter went to Village for two years and graduated. It is true that you have to go through Renweb for some things, however if you are active with the school, calling/e-mailing the teachers, and speaking with the principal you will find that it is a lot easier to stay on top of things if you have a high schooler. My daughters first quarter was not easy, it does take a while to transition into the school, but with the school being smaller than public school it was easier for my daughter to know her classmates. The teachers are very willing to give extra help if needed. The school has gone through ups and downs with gaining/losing staff, however every teacher my daughter had helped her every step of the way. The athletics and fine arts are very well organized. The AP program is excellent. My daughter is now in her second semester at Clemson University, before going to Village she never thought she would go to college. Village prepared her well, she grew up to be a well rounded young lady of Christ and Village is part of the reason.

I am a student at VCA, and have gone there for quite awhile now. It's a great school overall, and I love it. But I do have to say it has gone down a little since the changes in administration. I don't mean down by education, I mean as far as who they let in, punishments, and student behavior. It still has a great education, AWESOME athletic program, great Fine Arts program. But I would recommend sending your kid there for elementary school, not so much middle or high school.
