I think this is all i need to say. When i was a TA for kindergarteners as my elective, i overheard a very odd conversation. It was a first grade teacher across from my class who was speaking with one of the principals about how she was going to let a boy stay in her class after school instead of going to aftercare because of something that happened between him and someone else (i didnt hear all of the details). While she explained her reasoning of saying how she is a parent and this is what she would want her childs teacher to do for her, the principal proceeded to say that she isnt allowed because that would make them look bad since they choose who works at NRCA. As the conversation continued, it started to sound like it was something that happened between the student and another. The principal than continued to state that the teacher needed to understand that they are little sinners who havent been saved. If that doesnt make you not want to send your child there, i dont know what will.

They kicked my 11th grader out for cheating on a test. No warning or anything. They are not faith based, they are religious BULLIES!

This school is horrible. The workload is too much athletics suck PE teacher is super mean. Girls basketball team is atrocious. The teachers are horrible. Theres no special ed classes. I would never recommend this school to anyone. My daughter says the teachers are horrid and atrocious

I wrote a review a few years ago, stating not a good idea to send your kids here, especially if they are not perfect
In the last year I've learned more about the experience of my youngest. We pulled her out after 8th grade thankfully.
Anyway, she's 23 now and last year she tried getting to know a young man but struggled with anxiety about it the entire time. When he held her hand just walking around a museum it scared her. Why? Because it brought back memories of boys who relentlessly bullied her and that included putting hands on her to push her down to the ground. She's mildly handicapped so it didn't take much effort to cause her to fall. I didn't know about this until a year ago. She left there in 2016. There is no way teachers didn't know this happened. I regret not taking her out way sooner. This happened both in upper elementary and middle school. Middle school principle was informed by me more than once about the bullying I did know about. Did nothing. It's too bad he was promoted. My child had anxiety before starting there but keeping her there greatly influenced how she copes with things now. She would have alway been anxious but she experience extreme trauma there that is now no much clearer. She chose to limit trying ti make real friends in college because it wasn't worth the risk.
Be very careful when considering this school. Especially if your child isn't perfect. All that glitters is not gold.

I am a former student of NRCA, and it was quite possibly the worst experience of my life. Are there beautiful people and supportive staff there? Of course, but they are few and far between. Elementary school was good (I was a teacher's pet and also a bit of a bully to other kids). If your child can fit the mold of conservative Christian with a high superiority complex like I used to, this is the school for you. Middle school was awful (yes, middle school sucked for everyone, but it really was Hell at NRCA). The teachers were abysmal and hardly cared for us as students. I watched a kid get pulled by the ear by the teacher due to talking to much in class. Other kids got put out in the hallway for the entirety of the lesson, effectively disrupting their learning. The racism and classism running rampant in the kids was incredible, along with severe bullying. The school pushes an agenda that public school is some sort of demon-land, but I go to public school now, and it's incredible. I'm still a Christian, but my relationship with God is much healthier and I have such an amazing group of friends. Never in my nine years at NRCA did I feel the love and support that I do at my current school. It's considered a very liberal and atheist school, but I've met more "real" Christians here than I ever did at NRCA, which makes me glad I left before high school. I know that if I stayed at NRCA, I would have gone absolutely wild or destructive in college. I'm glad I left before my mental health could get so much worse. Please, if you're hesitant to send your child here, follow your gut. Too many of my friends (who still go there or went there) suffered from severe mental health issues due to the bullying from students and teachers along with the pressure to be perfect.

Oh, and just if you think NRCA offers a good education: I didn't know dinosaurs were a real thing until bio at my public school. NRCA teaches science as is able to be read in the Bible, so dinosaurs, evolution, extinctions, etc. are not mentioned. Regardless of what you believe in, you have to admit that it's ridiculous that they wouldn't even mention that stuff in the curriculum.

This school does not care for your child or their future. They only care about being textbook "Christians" and getting your money.

I am a currently a student and I loved elementary but once in middle school they treat you like dirt. The school drowned me in homework in the 2nd week. The lower and upper elementary teachers are good. The 6th grade teachers are good. They don't help you help when you mentally unstable and I was at the grade 5th and 6th as some events happened in my life the school was like "Just breathe and PRAY" I wish I could've had therapy. I had to go to outside therapy wish the school would just help. The school was like we don't tolerate bullying but I got bullied on elementary for not having this or for wearing this or that this is what help me move to start moving towards depression. The school also does not help the people with ADHD for example I had a friend with ADHD and they never gave him a break wish the school would help these people. The school is not flexible. Wish I had my emotional support at time because I felt like breaking down like this one time. The school is annoying because they don't let you wear whatever you want in middle and highschool. You can have some rules but having to make the boys just wear jeans wow really cool. Not to mention the school has some awful teachers in higher grades. NRCA please read this and fix some of these issues I wish the tuition was cheaper. Use chrome books why 500 dollar iPads just get a 300 dollar chrome book. Thank you for reading to this far. My student has been at NRCA for several years, and I am completely happy with my choice for his education. The school is not perfect, but it by a large margin has many more positive aspects than negative. I have personally witnessed teachers taking time to pray with children when they are hurt or upset or just needed encouragement. Chapel is a great opportunity for the students every week to come together and be encouraged and grow spiritually. I have seen the negative comments and reviews slighting the school for being religious or Christian. It IS a Christian school, and that is one thing I love about the environment for my student. I appreciate the open communication from the teachers and staff. My student has developed and grown into a fine young adult, and some of the recognition and thanks for that goes to many good, dedicated, caring teachers at this school. It has not all been prefect, but it has been a great experience for my student and for me as a parent.

Absolutely despicable & horrible school. I would never recommend any growing vulnerable child be thrown into this bubble of nonsense.. Its horrendous your self-worth and mental state will go into the drain. If you are not smart, talented, rich, straight, and personality-less .. They do not want you there. I promise. NRCA has some really great aspects and unfortunately some really bad aspects. I will start with the positive aspects of this school. The school has some really great teachers who have a love of teaching and a love for the children that attend this school. The chapel is a great activity that delivers messages regarding Christianity in a real-life perspective. NRCA also offers quite a lot of opportunities for being such a small school. This includes field trips, volunteering, missions, and sports.
Unfortunately, the negative aspects of this school completely overshadow the positive. One of the main objectives of NRCA is: To teach the student to treat everyone with love and respect as unique individuals created in Gods image. NRCA is failing at this objective.
A large majority of the children that attend this school are mean, hurtful and very unchristian in their attitude and behaviors. The school states that it does not tolerate bullying, however, this is not enforced. My child has experienced bullying in different degrees during their attendance at this school. The teachers are either oblivious and not paying attention, afraid to confront this activity, or just indifferent.
It feels like somehow the school has lost their way. Hopefully the school will begin to look inward and start addressing some of the large, unchristian, secular flaws that are rampant in their school.

Hey everyone if you want to go to this school YOU SHOULD this is form a student view but this is so amazing EVERY teacher loves you and will DO ANYTHING THING just for you. Some people say that it is strict it is BUT the thing is if you are cheating on a test, skipping class, or something big you know is wrong then definitely you do devise a detention. This school has taught me a lot. NRCA also has had a HUGE spiritual impact on EVERYONE. The 7th grade science teacher is a JERK but you cant ask for everything. This school is PERFECT just that ONE teacher but EVERYTHING CANT BE PERFECT. I hope that you decide on this school. THIS SCHOOL IS AMAZING I LOVE THIS SCHOOL. THE SPORTS AND ACADEMIC IS PERFECT I LOVE IT SO MUCH. All my teams are like family well actually they are my family we always get along.

Introduction: I am a former student of NRCA who has attended since Kindergarten.

Learning: This was one of the better aspects of this school. They did have a somewhat decent academic curriculum, although drowned in homework assignments even in Elementary for me personally. It was highly stressful as I entered my last year of enrollment.

Teaching: Another better aspect, most teachers were alright and did what they could to help. Although some were merciless and targeted students based on personality and being neuro divergent.

Social/Emotional Support:
One of the worst aspects of this school. This school has no counselors or any means of helping struggling students with mental health disorders. They only shame and bring pain on students and make them feel as if it is their fault for their problems as well as telling them to JuSt pRaY when students have anxiety conditions.

Special Education:
Being a nuero divergent child at this school with ADHD, this school have me childhood trauma which I currently attend therapy for. By far the worst aspect of this school. Where I was forced to walk at recess daily because I didnt look at her when she was teaching and being shamed in front of my entire class. As someone who needed these recourses, my family had to find outside ones and the school had no ways to help.

Safety:
This school was absolutely horrible in providing safety to its students. Kids who brought in knives were let off the hook, yet if a student dare have a phone in their pocket they were given a detention. Heavy discrimination to POC and LGBTQ+ students who were forced to go to a school that had Leviticus 20:13 in its honor code. Telling those LGBTQ+ folks that they supported a verse that wanted their blood spilled upon them Absolutely disgusting and vile. No safety for any minorities whatsoever. I dont want to hear from any straight, white, men telling their students there is no discrimination.

Family Engagement:
This used to be great for parents, but as time went on they became way less informative of things about students. My parents complained about this to me, and I completely agreed with what they were saying.

This is an awful school. There is little to no heating in the building, and it's infested with rats. The school overcharges exorbitantly for their quality but still asks for donations incessantly. The culture is excessively Puritan and religious. The academics are poor, many teachers don't put any effort into explanations, or any kind of actual teaching. I would not recommend this school under any circumstances.

MIDDLE SCHOOL REVIEW: I have been going to this school since kindergarten and Im currently a high school student. My middle school years were some of the worst in my life. My 6th grade history teacher was extremely sexist and would not allow girls to play with the guys during recess. He only called on the boys in class and told us that a mans salvation was more important than a girls. His preschool daughter would sometimes have to stay in class in the morning and he would yell at her if she talked or did anything other than sit on the floor in the back quietly. He had anger issues and punched a hole in his class wall and threw my friends workbook across the classroom and broke the spine. My 6th grade Bible teacher never remembered my name and called me The Russian Spy in place of it. He never taught in class and had extreme favoritism. If you werent a favorite he would bully you excessively. I recall one time he called me out of my homeroom classroom while I was doing homework and when I walked into his class he started playing music and laughing. I turned around left. Whenever a student asked for help in his class he would start singing I Believe I Can Fly and have them figure it out themselves. My science teacher taught horribly and everyone struggled in her class. When she wasnt teaching she was yelling at the boys in class or telling us to not put our arms on our desks. The people in 7th grade were BRUTAL. Ive been around such toxicity ever. I know of several fights that broke out and my own friends were sent to the office to be punished for things they didnt do. Careful if you have any form of social media because my friend got suspended for putting a shirt on his head in a picture. My mental health declined dramatically during this time and I still struggle because of it. My 8th grade experience was limited due to quarantine. 8th grade science was very difficult because the teacher only taught in one style. Many students tried getting rid of her but they school turned a blind eye (they do this many times in high school as well). I HATED middle school here and do NOT suggest sending your kid here.

I went to NRCA 5th-12th grade and loved my experience. I appreciate a lot of the teachers and had great relationships with some of them the teachers really do care about your well-being. Academically, I was prepared for a top university which I attend now.

Had depression all through middle and high school since I was bullied for not being as rich as other kids. Also for standing out. Teachers addressed the problem but only skin deep which led to a lot more bullying. One kid was bullied so bad for being homeschooled that he cried and was taken out of school. I only hope he's doing good today.

They develop these views from a strong conservative Christian POV. Which is fine if you never plan on leaving Raleigh or the safety of suburbia. After leaving NRCA, I saw the values they taught me fail time and time again due to the bubblish nature of the school. They are unwilling to see the world from any other perspective but there own.

Administration cares more about image than anything else. Their Christian world view is honestly not loving or compassionate. They can't take any criticism that is given so they just ignore it. The only decent thing I have gained from the school is a decent education and friends through shared trauma.

There was too much homework. It had gotten to the point where I just stopped doing it to avoid the stress of it. Even when teachers said they "understood" what amount of work we were doing, every class piled on homework like we were the only one. The only example I could think of anyone getting any sort of break was for a family death or someones house burning down. My friend and I still have conversations about the depression and the lack of value we felt due to the absolute dumptruck of homework we did.

They did a good job of teaching, but teachers were unsympathetic to problems that students had. Some were just unforgiving and looking for reasons to pick on some less than attentive students.

Unhappy 9 years for my youngest. The first 3 years for my oldest were lovely but things began to change and we finally took her out to finish last 3 years of high school elsewhere. Got the youngest through 8th grade then put her in a small Christian school that treats her differences with respect

Hypocritical. Do not listen to concerns of parents. Overlook bullying if that bullying is done by their pet students. Bullying by teacher is prevalent in middle school but denied by administration.

My family's experience at NRCA has been fantastic! It feels like home for us. My kids have found their groove both academically and socialy. There have been some bumps along they way but there is no perfect school. Overwhelmingly we have had a great experience at NRCA. When we have hit bumps the school has worked with us get through those rough patches and as a result I have two kids who are thriving in their school environment. NRCA truly is a partnership experience between the school, the parents and the church community. We are a happy NRCA family! We thank God for the blessing of NRCA in our lives!

The homework can be significant at times especially in middle and high school however the result is students that are well prepared for subsequent grades and college.
