Harris creek has been an amazing elementary experience for all 3 of my children. The teachers are truly invested in the students and school community. Admin is responsive and approachable. The school is uniquely diverse and I love that my kids get to experience students from different cultures.

My daughter was in Harris creek since K to 3rd grade and he had an excellent experience. She had speak delay when she got to Kindergarten and they worked with her every year that she has falling behind. Thank you all the teachers and staff for always been kind and make my daughter feel heard and understood.

I love the school in general. It does what it needs to do and I take care of the rest. I would rate it a 5 but the women that work in the front office have to be the rudest, most opposite of what an elementary schools front office should be. As the first people you see when entering the school, they make you feel like a burden and that youre interrupting them. Im sure the job is stressful and has many emotions daily to manage. Having said that, if youre not able to do the job, dont do it. It literally pains me to have to walk into that school and interact with them in the front office. All of the teachers are wonderful, especially the specials teachers. I think it has been a great environment for our child to grow and learn.

Our kiddo has just completed kindergarten and onto first grade but our experience with all the staff members have been fantastic. The teachers and staff seem to care a lot about the kids and the kids are always excited to see the staff in return. There is genuine thought out into activities and ways to involve parents in the education of their children.

I do love that it's a diverse school and that our child has all sorts of friends from different backgrounds. That's really quite invaluable.

I wasn't sure what to think about the school when we first started, (not knowing what to expect) but I'm glad we gave it a shot. I love the atmosphere and the teachers so much - that positivity will help the kids learn better too.

I'm the parent of one child that recently completed all 6 years at Harris Creek, and another with some more to go (and they will finish all grades there). At each and every grade for both of my children, they have been in classrooms led by caring, helpful, and communicative teachers. For all the seemingly obsessive culture in Wake County around magnet and charter schools, we find that our children are either pacing or past their peers that attend those kinds of schools. Both of my children are/were in academically/intellectually gifted groups while at Harris Creek. Given that factors such as parental involvement and reading to/with your children are so important to a child's development at this age range, we find that the greatest element that Harris Creek provides is related to the other children and families that also attend. Our kids have been growing up alongside other children that may look a little different, or speak another language at home, and we are appreciative and excited about that. It is important to us that our children understand the diversity that exists in the world, and we're glad that they're learning this from the earliest age. Harris Creek has provided our family an opportunity for academic and social growth and we recommend it to our neighbors and community.

This is a special place!! I cant recommend it enough. Im entering my fifth year here as a parent. My eldest attended between 3rd- 5th grade and is now flourishing in middle school. My youngest just completed kindergarten. My kids have had ups and downs these last several years, and the school has done a fantastic job of supporting them. They communicate with me constantly. I always know whats going on. I dont know how they have the time, to be honest! I think teaching is definitely a calling. As a former educator myself, I understand this from personal experience. The school culture is warm and welcoming and caring. They seem to have hit that rare balance between high educational goals and social/emotional compassion for each child. Ive moved around Raleigh a few times since moving here, but Ive made sure my girls were still able to attend this fabulous school. The principal is wonderful, too. Hes always out of his office helping. Before and after school care folks are lovely, too (thats hosted by Raleigh parks and rec). PTA is very involved, too.

My son transferred into Harris Creek in 1st grade. I could not have asked for a better experience. The teachers and staff truly care about each child. Staff here volunteer their time for different clubs and activities. It is amazing place for children to grow academically, emotionally and socially.

A truly exceptional school!

Harris Creek Elementary has been an absolute blessing for our family. From the moment you walk in, youre greeted with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care. The teachers go above and beyondnot just to teach, but to truly connect with each child. My kids come home happy, motivated, and excited about learning every single day.

The staff knows every child by name, and the principal is deeply involved and approachable. The school is well-maintained, diverse, and inclusive. The year-round schedule has worked beautifully for our family, and the gifted programs are thoughtfully designed.

What stands out the most is the community spiritHarris Creek feels more like a family than just a school. We couldnt ask for a better environment for our childrens growth and development. Highly recommend to any parent looking for a nurturing, high-quality education in Raleigh!

I love this school, I am so thankful for every teacher, staff member, and principal for all that they do. They care about your child and they do so many fun activities that families are more then welcome to participate in. My kids love it here!! Thank you Harris Creek! My son has been going to this school for the past 2 years. In my experience both teachers have been terrible with communication and very sub par. The front desk staff is often dismissive, rude, and lazy. The only positive things I have regarding the school is the clubs that the school itself offers for the children.

Half the time she wouldnt receive homework. Other times my child wouldnt know how to approach the math homework as if it was something they hadnt discussed in class. My child told me she would prefer homeschool because she understood it better when I taught her. I did most of the heavy lifting myself. Some teachers are ok but others are not and may seem biased.

The communication is terrible and I feel uninformed about what is happening. They sometimes wouldnt bother to follow up or send notices home about important events. I relied on my child to communicate these things. Once, there was a large turn over and she had 4 different teachers in one school year.

Leadership is terrible too. They act oblivious to whats happening on a social level with these kids, then say there are too many students to keep track. My child has been both bullied and sexually assaulted by other students at Harris Creek. I wanted them to address this on a school wide level and not select my child out as if she was the only one experiencing the issue. I once filed a complaint about her experiences and they discarded it!

My child is pretty self sufficient but I helped her myself in areas where there were challenges. Parents should be prepared to spend time working one on one with their child. Most teachers in my experience wouldnt have the capacity to do this.

Shes had multiple instances with bullying from a particular student every year who also bullied other children too. She would even try to stand up for them at some point. Im not sure how they allowed that to continue on.

I wish she never attended here to begin with. Her experiences at the school has caused irreparable damage and she even had to attend counseling therapy because of it.

They have anti-bullying assemblies each year. The counselors teach each classroom about the signs of bullying and how to stop it.

Our teachers approach to homework allows flexibility as to prevent it from becoming cumbersome. By providing a routine of assignments that just need to be completed by the end of the week there is more flexibility in completing it successfully effectively and completely.

My daughters 1st grade and Kindergarten teachers were not consistent with homework at all. Especially 1st grade. She was literally the worst teacher I have met in my entire life and I have a Masters degree so I am familiar with MANY teachers.

The absolute worst school ever and I absolutely need to move out of this area. My daughter is extremely smart...literally at the top of her class and NEVER gets recognized yet other students who cant even spell do get recognized. I have tried to get her out of there on several occasions to no avail. Our only option at a better education is to move which I am in the process of doing.

I have three children at Harris Creek. Every one of my kids' teachers have been kind, extremely capable, and patient. Some of our favorites have been Mrs. Frazier, Mrs. Thomas, Mrs. Fisher, Mrs. Xiong, and Miss Trevethan.

Each of my children has a different learning style and each one has been nurtured on an individual basis. The school has been very responsive with any issues that occur and I am grateful for the counseling services provided and extra reading help.

I wasn't sure if I would like the year-round calendar at first, but I've found that it helps the kids not get too overwhelmed by their busy school schedules. There is always a break coming up to look forward to.

Also, I appreciate the smiling people in the front office as well as the increased security that the school has implemented over the last couple years.

My son just started Kindergarten and he loves it. I feel like we have an awesome academic partnership with his teacher, who keeps parents informed through regular emails and online postings. I am also enthused to join the PTA and volunteer in any way I can.

Removing my children from this school was the best decision I could have made. The difference in my children from when they attended Harris Creek Elementary is night and day. They are happy and full of energy when the get home; not exhausted, stressed, and combative. They are now light years ahead of where they were academically. They now love school...so much so that they play school when stuck inside on a rainy day. When attending Harris Creek, if you mentioned school they would get upset.
Harris Creek Elementary is filthy inside and out, over-crowded, and loud.
Take a day off and spend the day at Harris Creek; really soak in what happens there on the daily and whether or not your child is actually in a safe and clean learning environment.
I did. Many times. I saw/heard nothing I felt good about.

We have been at Harris Creek since 2012. The staff really cares for the students. They are truly in the game for the kids. The principal Miss Sanchez is amazing she does everything from running with the children and fundraisers to observing kids who need extra help. We have relocated and will be changing schools this year. It is my hope that the new school will be as great and caring as this one has been. My tribe of 4 will be forever grateful to the staff for their commitment to public education!

My daughter graduated from HCES in 2015 and is currently doing great in Middle School. I feel she was always treated fairly and she grabbed every opportunity to better herself. I know kids are now given less homework than we were used to. I think there could be a bit more practice especially in spelling/grammar.

The school has really gone down hill since change in office staff... There seems to be more concern with fundraisers and raising money for the school then the value of the students... Very disappointing...

My child has been attending Harris Creek for 3 school seasons now (K-2). The school started out fine for us but it has changed over the last couple of years. Recently, HC held their annual Boosterthon Fun Run. My kid ran 37 laps and earned over $400 through pledges. After the run, my child became ill so she needed to be signed out early. The faculty would not count her for a half day credit even though she just earned the school a bunch of money. When asked why the faculty responded in a not-so-friendly manner in front of my child and refused to let her have a half day credit. There have been a few other incidents that have really placed a negative outlook on the school and its staff.

This is our second year at Harris Creek. We have felt welcomed from the beginning. The staff have been nothing but nice to my family. My son has struggled with reading and the principal was so kind and set up a meeting to explain the different grading levels within reading. The teacher was very encouraging and I'm proud to say his reading has improved thanks to all the help from the teachers and TitleI teachers. It has also been nice to volunteer in the school even though I have a younger child whom I had to bring with me. Everyone is always so kind to him and we are looking forward to him starting kindergarten in July. LOVE Harris creek teachers and staff!

Harris Creek has been great to my kids. I have a child that is AG and some that are on IEP's. ALL their needs have been greatly met.

My son attended Harris Creek for three years. He needed intervention for reading and math. What I found was that my son's teachers were often unmotivated to help him, and that the assessments were inconsistent across the board. My main problem was that the current leadership of Harris Creek is pleased with maintaining the status quo instead of really helping students. After my job took me Durham, and we relocated to Cary, now we can really see the huge difference between schools in various parts of Wake County. Our son comes home motivated and happy everyday instead of being depressed about continually being assessed at every corner. Wake County needs to devote more effort to finding quality leadership at schools that are not located near its more pristine areas.

We are very happy at this school. The administration, teachers, and specialist have all been great. My daughter has exceeded my expectations and really blossomed at Harris Creek. We feel like Harris Creek is a home away from home and feel like there is a great sense of community.
