Honestly I feel like I was tricked came to the school to do the walk-through and my daughter started her ninth grade here last year and the campus is beautiful and big. So I thought this was going to be a great environment for her. But every other day there’s videos of fights they even have an instagram page where both students and staff are caught sleeping in class. I have had to deal with the incompetent staff no set up for guidelines and policies lack of staff lack of transportation my daughter spent half of her 10th grade year failing classes because teachers weren’t grading assignments that were giving on days that they weren’t in school she went through her first quarter with only half of her teachers in multiple days of either not having a ride home from school or not having a ride to school I have come to pick my daughter up on multiple occasions and given different times for when I can pick her up from school which is a major inconvenience when you’re trying to let them actually stay for part of the class and pick them up before two which is the time that is stated but when the office doesn’t feel like dealing with it they’ll tell you you can’t pick up your child I am sick of schools that have rules and guidelines for children to follow in order for them to be successful but the adults don’t have to follow the same thing the school is all front all full of all looks if you care anything about your child education do not send them to Knightdale high school!!!!

Great school with great teachers and education. Sports are great, lunch food could be better. Overall a great school.

I am about to graduate and expect graduation to be the happiest day of my life. I hate this place and it had made me hate learning, which I previously was passionate about. There are fights happening more often than normal for a high school. Who gets into a fight on the first day of school?

My child is a freshman at KHS and has had a pleasant experience despite the pandemic interruption. Teachers have gone the extra mile to help answer any questions about his education.

All of the teachers go through extensive training to be where they are today. They have stepped outside their comfort zone to embrace the project based learning happening at knightdale. The teachers here are really just above average and really care for their students.

The social contracts we make in every class include these words almost every time. By agreeing to be all of these things by signing the social contract, we learn and adapt these traits in our classes everyday.

A lot of what we do at knightdale is collaborative work and at some point, every student has to step up as a leader. During freshmen year, we have a class called freshmen seminar which prepares us for these situations and teaches us these skills that we are to use for the rest of high school and life.

Teachers are always available for tutoring at least twice a week, whether that is during lunch or after school. Every time i feel that i am behind, i receive help.

When i first came to this school, i admit i was scared because of all the rumors, but i came to find that knightdale is much different than i expected. This page and these reviews are totally outdated. The principal is phenomenal and is making a huge difference in this school and i see it everyday. Knightdale is getting better and better every year and i believe we are on our way to becoming one of the best!

My children both go there and I can't be more happy about how this school has changed over past 2 years! I'm proud to live in Knightdale and proud how this HS truly cares about the kids!!

My son is a Junior at Knightdale this year and taking AP classes. The problem with Knightdale is that the majority of the students and parents don't care. In order for a school to succeed, you need a successful PTA and that is not happening. Also the school has gotten a bad reputation from past incidents. Show me a high school that doesn't have issues. My son's teachers challenge him every day. The AP curriculum at Knightdale is very good. You get what you put into education. If you sit in class on your cellphone and don't pay attention, you won't do well. Not the teacher or school's fault. Overall the school deserves more credit than it gets. I would rate it a 4.

No child likes homework (it's hard on the parents too). The teachers get that and very few overload on homework.

My son is in second year at this school and the admin staff has turned this school around! I'm proud to say my son goes here and gets a Great education!!

Worse school ever!! My child has been going there a couple years, teachers don't care, administration is awful. There are so many drugs and fights in this school. Knightdale is a nice place to live but the high school makes you not want to live here. This school should be shut down.

New Principal and new teachers have turned this school around in 2 years! It's fabulous. My son is doing better than he ever has. I love this school and so does he!

In every school you have teachers that don't have kids and think hours of homework is appropriate but most teachers here are very fair with the amount of work given for homework.

I attended this school for 4 years and I really liked it! The autism support was great and I loved OCS! I had great friends there and I hung out with the school officer almost everyday at lunch! But why are these other students rating it bad?? the administration doesn't have anything to do with the fights. its the students that start up a fight. administraters have broken up the fight even the officer did too. NRCA is wrong they haven't even been to the school.

My child has attended KHS for 4 years and graduates in June. The biggest problem KHS has is the lack of parental involvement. No school can be successful without a partnership between parents, teachers, and administrators. There are 354 students in my daughter's senior class yet every parent meeting I go to there's only the same 15 parents. Very few know what's going on or even care. Students are given numerous opportunities to hand in work late, make test corrections, and get extra academic help. It is up the student to take it - which is challenging. The majority of students are highly unmotivated to do well, but they can if they work hard. Unfortunately it has been a constant battle to get teachers to report grades in an accurate and timely fashion. The principal and counselors always side with the teacher when any problems are brought to their attention. There are very few electives offered in the arts. KHS dominates in sports, holding many conference and state titles. Many students are multi-sport athletes. Staff encourages them to take Honors/AP classes but doesn't push them to get A's. This was the principal's and the athletic director's last year at KHS so expect a shakeup.

Let me start by saying that I went to a private school from K-7 at North Raleigh Christian Academy. When our family could no longer afford the ridiculously expensive tuition, I started going to public school and ended up at KHS. The rumors at NRCA about KHS made me very afraid of the gang activity and overall different atmosphere. I soon learned that there is very little to no gang activity at KHS whatsoever. I quickly made friends by joining the marching band and staying involved. Some of the teachers here are top-notch. You will have classes with people who are less motivated, however, all of the AP classes I took felt like true college prep courses. The lunch food is horrid however. All of the problems KHS has are mainly budget related and cannot be helped without legislative change. I rate my high school experience slightly above average. I graduate in the spring of 2014.

We were at Knightdale a couple years, and the situation was mixed. There were great teachers, but a lot of the problems seemed to come from the principal and many great teachers left because of the lack of support from administration. There is a severe gang problem. I spoke with another parent who complained about her daughter getting shoved around by a boy and Jernigan's response was to gush about the boy. While some parents were very involved, others didn't even know where their kids were if teachers called about attendance issues. I met some of the Administration and some were great (not the principal), but clearly there need to be some changes made at this school before I would recommend it.

Honestly this school is a joke. I couldn't stand this school, the teachers are all negative and bitter, I had alot of medical problems and I couldn't have not one day without this one teacher to remind me of it everyday, I had that same teacher get up in my face and yell at me. 90% of those teachers don't care about us learning anything. All they care about is. The money in their pocket, come on knightdale get it together

I liked that the we got to choose certain things. What I didnt like is the counselors because they didnt help much and the one that did is gone now. The teachers we ok I think they could have tried a little harder with not being favoritive of students. They do offer great things like interior design (even tho is heard its boring) they had theatre which I was in they also have choir and band and lots of other things we loved. Also our sports were well supported.
