I have 2 boys who have attended Barwell from kindergarten. And the thing i love most about this school is community. The leaders have a plan, the teachers know, engage, and love their students. They knew my youngest by name before he even attended. If this needs anything it's more resources to support and retain the awesome staff they have collected. And the leadership does s great job of creating unique opportunities to do this. I know my kids emotional and mental well being is considered in all interaction.

My daughter has been attending this school since kindergarten & now she’s in 4th. I’ve never had a problem with the school nor teachers. The communication with parents/teachers/staff has always been something I liked. They send out communications through the class dojo or flyers about school events. The 2019-2020 was hard for everyone which was understandable because of COVID-19 & online learning was hard. Luckily my daughter’s teachers (Mr. Cox, Mrs. Pace & Mrs. Caudil) all were very helpful & went beyond to make sure she didn’t fall short. She got a 3 in her math EOG & a 4 in her reading EOG. She’s been in 4th grade for a little over a month now & I am still very happy with the communication from her teachers (Mr. Rhodes & Mrs. Finney). My daughter once had a bullying issue in 2nd grade where an older student told her an indecent comment during carpool. The school notified me & contacted the boy’s mom & my daughter said the next day they had put more teachers in the carpool area to make sure he didn’t bother her. I also like how the school communications are sent out both in English & Spanish so it makes it very helpful to a lot of the Hispanic students & their parents, even teachers know some Spanish.

Teachers are not tolerant to students that are not average.

Nothing is done to help teachers with issues with students.

My daughter is antagonized by other students but then gets blamed for reacting.

Teachers there would rather chastise the child instead of encouraging better behavior.

The effort the teachers make to help the children I feel is very good. But the teachers can only do so much. The parents have to make efforts also.

My grandson has issues with Speech and the school system assist him in that disability. Assisting my Grandson is not just a school responsibility but parents and family have to also assist.

My Grandson had a situation where some big kids kept him in the bathroom. He chose not to tell his teacher and I found out when he got home. So when the teacher found out she spoke with him to let him know he could speak with any teacher when these incidents do occur.

Very good. I have had so many good experiences. I don't think that the way the schools are graded is really accurate. The teachers need help and I believe that the absence of the parents are mainly a part of the problem.

They communicate what is needed and if the student does not do the homework the teacher comments and gives the student a chance to still do the homework.

My 5 year old daughter is always being bullied at this school. I've taken it up with the bus driver who seems to care less. I've taken it to the school who made one attempt to find out what was going on. Things are being thrown on the bus hitting others in face, head, ect. My daughter was made (by another child) to sit in the floor of the bus!!!! Are you kidding me? When I asked/told the bus driver her response was I didn't know a thing about it and when I called the school and told them the bus driver never said anything. Then another child punched my daughter in the face and yet again the bus driver said she never saw it but in the same sentence said I just let them work it out. And lets not talk about the teachers. My daughters class has had 4 teachers this year 4!!!! One of them who would yell at them. I went to lunch to surprise my daughter and walked in and her this my daughter ran to me. After she seen a parent there things changed. I'm so over this school I cant wait to get my daughter in the same school as my son (who is special needs he attends a different school.) At least that school cares about their children. I do the same drop in surprises with his school and have never once not felt the welcomed there.

HORRIFYING, that is all I can say. The school was just trash. The teachers hardly taught my child and they changed lesson plans almost everyday so my child couldn't understand what was going on with her learning. ALSO A LOT OF BULLYING!!! They didn't do nothing about it and acted like the students were never heard of just invisible. My child is going 5th grade and is now attending a different school . I encourage you to send your child to Walnut Creek elementary because they WORK and give quality help which paid off really good. When I say don't take your child to this school PLEASE DONT MAKE THAT MISTAKE I DID!!!!!

The consistently high turnover is substantiated by the morale of some of the staff, especially administration. Integrity is very questionable from the top down, there is an unfavorable buddy system.

Barwell was our base school when I bought my house. It was a new school so I sent my kids there with high hopes for their education. I couldnt have been more wrong/disappointed. The administration is deplorable and the teachers demand children to be robots. Another poster had it right on - kids were to be seen and not heard. The environment at Barwell was/is so toxic that I put my house on the market 3 mos after we moved in and took my children out of the school immediately.
