Hope is a wonderful school that is focused on getting the students, the faculty, and test scores to improve. My daughter went there for 6th-8th grade and said she wish she didn’t have to leave. The principal is a good women with priorities that I respect.

The Principal doesn't care about the students and I have called and left massages also emailed and have not received any response. We moved to this school district at the end of last year, for this school. My children have made A's or high B's and high 4s and 5s on their EOG's from the beginning of being graded and continue to do so. But and this is a huge but this school does not keep track of where the kids are. My child stayed after school for an academic team and no one in the office knew that students where still in the building. Also my children have had doctors visits
in the morning that lasted after 10 AM and I have yet to receive a phone call stating that my child was not in school. Just today the bus didn't come, I had to and speak with four different people before anything was resolved.

The teaching staff is not good. My child spends hours every night doing homework. I often wonder what they do in class because they have so much homework. I feel they don't encourage the kids or push them to reach they full potential. It's all about who the kids parents are. When it comes to the parents, the ora of elitism towards non-whites is very obvious at Hope Middle School.

We are quite fortunate to live in the school district that allows our child to attend Wintergreen Elementary/Intermediate and Hope Middle School. Those who are aware of schools within Pitt County realize that there are very few good middle schools here. Hope MS is often referred to as an "academy" due to its high quality of instruction. All I know is the facilities are great, the teachers are well-trained and provide a good challenge (and don't over do it on homework) and the sports and arts programs are excellent...especially chorus. I would seriously consider moving to another house in the county to get my child in this school if we didn't already live within the school's attendance boundary. Middle school years are critical for a child's development and preparation for high school. I cannot recommend a better middle school in Pitt County than Hope MS.

Not a good school if your child has any special education needs. Was cited in state complaint for not providing appropriate education.
