My son is on 6th grade and has been bullied all year. Administration does not doing anything. We have been at the school at least once a month. The teachers response is that they didn’t know.

Have 0 for the rate. This school have not respect for students that has been bullied there.

This school is deplorable. The teachers ignore bullying or bully themselves and the Principals tell you that they will look into it and then turn a blind eye. It's no wonder they have a rating of 2. I would not send my worst enemy to this school.

Absolutely not. Part of the bullying comes from the teachers. They suspend others for actions, but play favorites with the one's they like. What kind of message does that send.

My child's teacher was not there the vast majority of the first semester. She finally left after winter break and was replaced by a revolving door of substitutes. Many days were spent watching Netflix. Have had multiple issues with bullying/racism, to the point my child would not change after gym class, just run straight to where they were held to be released for buses. Called the school and asked to speak to the principle regarding an issue, was told he was unavailable and a message was taken. Never heard from him!! Finally, they successfully made my child cry at the end of the year by excluding her from an awards ceremony for honor roll (which she had the entire year). I had to show up at the school and make them include her! The only saving grace is Mr. Bailey, the orchestra instructor. He is phenomenal and doesn't play around with bad behavior. He also provides numerous opportunities for after-school tutoring.

This is an awful school they are horrible with communication. Horrible horrible school I have never been to a school that made my child feel like an Animal. They are quick to point fingers and not to mention they have police officers that threatened to arrest my child multiple times, oh btw my son has ADHD and Autism .... send your kid here as a last resort

Let me be clear when I write this post, I use to work and coach here and wanted to share the following with you. I have since moved on to become a successful coach at the high school level. When I worked at the school Mr. Mcallister was the principal and he showed a genuine interest in the students, staff and held them accountable. He has now moved on and the new principal, Ms. Kehoe, could not be more out of touch with the school and the teaching environment she works in. In the 8th grade alone there is an overwhelmingly high number of absences by some teachers yet there is no system of checks and balances. In a tested subject, Math, a teacher has been out over 25 days but the principal has yet to hold her accountable. Something must be done and more parents need to start holding the administration, Ms. Kehoe, accountable. My children will not attend this school, yet I have family that works there. The biggest problem I feel is the lack of accountablilty by the principal and her flawed judgement towards her staff. I realize that this will probably go on deaf ears but if you can avoid sending your child here, please do so. Best, CV

South View Middle School has an excellent academic staff. Although they have such a low score on GREATSCHOOLS.ORG, it is actually a great school. I think it has a low score because of where it is located and on how some people may interpret what goes on during the school hours. I have moved recently from that school and I wish I hadn't. It is a great school. The students there are not as bad as people say they are. It's ridiculous with all the rumors going around saying this school is bad when actually the people saying that have not have a first-hand experience at the school.

I found the office staff to be dismissive, and terse. Most of the staff seemed to be "just there" for the salary. Miss Gray is very unprofessional, and mean spirited(never have I experienced such nastiness!. Miss Linkous seems disingenuine, and when you attempt to establish communication, and she appears to take her time helping with issues regarding students, unless you really push if the staff's that burnt, out they should consider entering another field, as the students will not be well-served. My child almost stayed back due to lack of communication of my child's progress, as stated by a previous comment above. You are not aware of your child potentially failing until it's at a critical stage. I understand we have the NCWISE however the site had not updated one of my child's teachers, so trying to contact her was impossible. When I phoned the office, there was no voicemail, the phone literally range over 10 times?, and when the voicemail was active, my calls were not returned, I'd logged the times I phoned, forwarded my emails to the principal, proving the attempts I made to communicate with my child's teachers to start tutoring. Resulting in our child almost being retained.

I read most of the post listed for this school and I agree in most part with all the comments on uniform, punishing "A" students, and the lack of ability to get a return phone call when there is an issue at the school. As far as discrimination based on race...doesn't exist. My child is African-American and she experienced being chastised for being smart as well as the lack of concern or consideration for having a minor special need. I gave up on calling the school a long time ago and choose to make a visit to the school if an issue occurs. There is at least one outstanding teacher at the school whose genuine interest in the children and their success is her primary goal. She is the music teacher, Wendy Adams. My child loves her and she has a nurturing spirit. A large majority of the children at South View Middle are fantastic! Its a shame they have to pay for the sins of the few.

We are a military family and caucasion. South View Middle School is a racist school. the 6&7th teachers treat my children unfairly because of their race. They worry more about the dress code than education. There have been several issues that have not been addressed and or handled. I would highly recommend that you send your child to a different school. The principle does not return phone calls and most of the Teachers will not cooperate with parents or take any special considerations in to consideration when your child has a learning disablity.
