Where do I being, well when I first started I was excited to start a new career. But as soon as I saw the red flags I should have gotten out sooner. One of the many red flags was that there was absolutely no training. I was expected to have goals and expectations that were very unrealistic. Administration treats their teachers horribly. I was told that if I left then I would be labeled as a weak person, sorry administration was wrong about that. You can't label me as weak. Good luck trying to find a teacher who can perform to the schools expectations. I do not recommend anyone to work at this school.

All students have learning differences when it comes down to math, language arts, science, & social studies.

Well when it comes down to bullying Mr. Laseder , & Mr. Gatlin will always handle the bullying because THIS SCHOOL IS A NO BULLYING ZONE!!!!

I would rate this school 100/100, also it is a great school where mostly there a lot of different races.

They don't give out enough homework. But they do have an effective approach to homework.

They help us students out whenever we need help and also they strive to get us through 6TH, 7TH, & 8TH.

Some students just don't respect their teachers. They're either talking to much and then the whole class gets in trouble.

I'm in 8th grade and their are fights almost every day and I don't feel safe while in there because anyone could just walk in and start shooting the place up.

Chowan Middle is a fantastic school to work in. Teachers consistently collaborate to meet the needs of all students in order for them to reach their highest potential. We strive to accommodate the interest of all students in academics, arts, athletics and so much more! Administration is also very supportive of all students and staff. We have strong community partnerships through an array of stakeholders and organizations. By far the best school in Northeastern North Carolina!

My son attended Chowan Middle School for three years, grades 6th through 8th. During his time at this school, his self-esteem increased tremendously. He is learning disabled in reading and came to Chowan defeated. The teachers at Chowan Middle did so much to not only improve his ability to read, but to have confidence in himself and to believe that he was a bright young man. His time at Chowan were the best three years he has had in school. For that, I thank Chowan and its staff!

It is a wonderful school to work in. What makes it so good is the fact we as teachers get to work with great teams of teachers and staff. Working on a small team of teachers specialized in the 4 content areas makes the work load easier. It has been a blessing for me and my family! Love the small rural community that always pulls together.

Chowan Middle School is by far the best school that I have ever been a part of in my 28 years of education. The teachers and staff work so diligently on making sure the students are receiving the proper instruction they need to be successful. There is a family atmosphere where everyone works together. Their one-to-one initiative is super and so beneficial to the students. CMS is stands out in many ways and is definitely deserving of their "Schools To Watch" status. I would have loved for my children to be able to have attended this school when they were in middle school.

The great thing about Chowan Middle School is its compassion. The staff genuinely cares about the students and each other. Some one is always there to step up and help, The great thing about Chowan Middle School is its focus. Everyone works diligently to try and benefit the lives of the students, from keeping the buildings in working order, to creative lesson plans, to safety. The great thing about Chowan Middle School is its dedication. Strong leadership, impeccable teachers, and helpful staff all contribute to enriching the lives of our students. But, the great thing about Chowan Middle School is EVERYTHING!

I have had two children go through this school and have been very pleased with the school and the leadership. Teachers seem genuinely concerned about kids and are open to being partners in your child's education.

Our school is one of the best in the region in many ways. Our staff consistently analyzes EVAAS data to monitor students strengths and weaknesses. Our teachers are a true "team" that share ideas, strategies and lessons that can benefit all our classes. We are definitely a "School to Watch!!!

This school has great leadership. Administrators and teachers communicate well with parents. Incoming 6th graders are assigned only two teachers to help them adjust to middle school. Two of my children attended this school and for the most part had very good teachers. As with any schools there are a few teachers you need to avoid. Overall, this is a good school.
