This school took excellent care of my babies. The Teachers genuinely love their students, and it shows. They could use a bit more structure for performances because the gym gets packed! The school could really use an auditorium.

However, I am overall very happy with the education my daughters received. Both my girls maintained A/ A & B honor roll. The implementation of the metal detector makes the school feel even more safe.

Excellent school! The teachers and staff really care about the students. They are tough on Bullies. Once they know it's happening, they nip it in the bud real quick.
Top notch teachers. They are patient with them and give them every chance to succeed. I am glad my son goes to this school. The principal and vice are a strong team. They always put the needs of the students FIRST. Solid School..

It is unfortunate that the city and school system does not provide more school choices and education options. The options are very few within the school system and many of the schools are failing and low performing. It sucks

The grading process is left entirely up to the teachers who are not accountable. The teachers yell and are rude to the students. I would not choose this school for your child.

wish i could give it negative stars. school-to-prison pipeline strong with this one!! looks like a prison from the back with the new fencing, only missing the barbed wire on top

This is an amazing school filled with some of the brightest minds I've ever seen. The staff is excellent, and my daughter has truly thrived here in ways she couldn't elsewhere... I can honestly say that this school truly is one of the BEST!

Meh. They gave us a decent amount and it depends how easy or hard you think it is. Sometimes it is ridiculous so watch out.

One of my teachers gave my friends serious criminal charges for TALKING. I get that some of them were doing worse but my friend said BLESS YOU and got in trouble. Really, SFCMS?

The kids there are rude, some teachers are dramatic for punishment and rude, and the moral values are hardly taught.

Some teachers will stick up, some won't. If you need help, go to a good teacher or guidance counselor. Don't go to the principals.

It was mediocre other than the drama we had to constantly deal with from the teachers or the principal complaining about something. I just graduated from there last year and I LOVE my high school compared to SFCMS. My friends and I survived though so if you find a decent place to stay out the teachers and gossiping students radar, you'll be okay.

I sent my child to this school due to Music and Arts as a Choice School. Not any more involved in these activities as any other school.

My daughter just finished 6th grade and I am in awe of how teachers are so respectful to our Tweens. They know how to deal with them in a very respectful yet strict manner. The principal sets the standards and are very well followed by her staff. There are so many great clubs available to the children and the teachers involved are super dedicated and committed to our children. I highly recommend this school.

Cumberland County should be very proud of what the teachers and staff provide and do everyday at Seventy First Classical Middle School. The teachers do have high academic expectations, but often times some of the student's behavior is inappropriate and should be dealt with more seriously. With that said, I adore the Principal, Ms. Ramos and her entire staff. She is personable and understanding and truly wants children to do their best as well as her teachers. Whenever I have had a concern she has talked to me, met me and my child, and continued to check in for any concerns along the way. It seems there were a few disgruntled parents prior to my review. I suggest take everything with a grain of salt and experience this great little school house for yourself! We love the diversity of the school, and the personal and academic growth our child demonstrates daily. We will sadly miss this challenging, yet nurturing environment.

My child is in the 8th grade this year. She has attend Seventy-First Classical all her middle school. Something change this last year. The school system all of sudden change the curriculum. I feel like the parents never was inform correctly. Example all of a Sudden in the middle of the school year they change Algebra 1 to math 1. I still do not know what is math 1 is. Also the school added extreme amount of homework along with adding each core class needs to have a notebook that needs to carry all the week assignment that are schedule to be turned in weekly for each core class. My daughter did not adjust to the change right of way and my A /B student grades drop.

I hate mrs powers. She is so rude n disrespectful. She acts like she runs the freakn school . She runs after school program and us horrible. She separates kids for no reason . We have to sit in the same place everyday. She yells at kids. Gets and attitude. But when parents come she act all nice and stuff. But sometimes she gets real rude with parents and tells them not to bring their kids back. But she don't run nothing she is just a gym teacher that needs to stay in her place .. Abs she needs to be fired TODAY

I'm in 8th grade and it's a cool school. They are excellent academically. They are actually starting a basketball team this year to play Reid Ross, but only for kids with a C-Average or above.

71st Classical Middle School is hands down the best middle school in Cumberland County public or private. My son attended 6th grade this last year and loved it. 71st is a charter school focused on academics and parents must apply for attendance which is primarily based on the students academic performance in elementary school. This last school year 71st excelled in extra cirricular academic contests placing first in the county in Science Olympiad, Battle of Books, Math Counts and just about every academic contest in the county. 71st also has an excellent music program that includes band and orchestra. The new principal is very involved and all teachers strive for academic excellence and individual student responsiblity. The school does not not tolerate bullies, tardiness or poor attitudes from its students. Some reveiws by parents on this site that complain about the schools disapline should focus less on the teachers and instiling some discipline and manners at home. If your child is a disruption in the classroom ... the principale will not tolerate this behavior. If you are a parent serious about your childs education, apply to 71st Classical ... you won't be disappointed.

BEST middle school in Cumberland Co. hands down!!! My daughter is going to 7th grade this year and she loves going to school!! It really makes life at home a little easier knowing your kid loves school and they are getting the best education in Cumberland Co. Super School all the way around.
