I’ve had 3 kids go through this school. The 3rd child entered his 1st Grade to a new principal who left a bad taste in my mouth with her rude comments. The social worker threatened child services over some petty things she also investigated my tax information. The teacher came to my home asking me to sign papers then found out it was an excuse to see where I live to then have all 3 women tell me I dont live in the district and have my son kicked out of school. Their father lives In the district he put them at the school and I was Targeted by these women for what felt like the fact that I am a minority. Over all the handling of the whole situation by the staff at that school, I would never enroll another one of my children there.

We have been impressed with the pace at which our daughter has been learning and the clear attention, care and compassion shown by her teachers. It's clear that the faculty and staff at AOE have created a loving community where our children can grow and feel encouraged and loved.

Nightly calendars are sent home, communicating your Kindergarten student's behavior during the school day, which I greatly appreciate. It allows me an inside look into her day I normally wouldn't have, and allows me to parent appropriately if my child needs a reminder to respect her teachers. Sight word practice and reading logs have been the perfect amount of required parental investment to ensure our child continues to build and retain knowledge. Communication with the school has been fantastic!

The Principal is rude and dismissive, the teachers show favortism to students, staff and parents they like. Teachers have formed cliques. I really thought that stopped in highschool but nonetheless that is exactly what Alma Easom represents. The teachers are rude to the students on virtual learning and have no patience, rushing the students to do everything and scolding them for things they have no control over. My child is always missing material because the teachers purposely leave it out of the packet or the teachers are careless. This school has been the worst experience for my child. If you have a brown child going to this school or looking to go here BEWARE, they will treat your child differently with a beautiful smile on their face!. I have no positives about this school, seems to me they hound you to keep up their already tainted image and continuing to be funded by the many surveys they ask you to complete. What happened to the teachers who had a passion for teaching? What happened to values and no child left behind? Choose a school that treats every child fairly. Dont take my word for it, its plenty reveiws on here to make you think twice. Thankyou for your time.

Cultural competency, cultural awareness, and multi-culture diversity trainings/in-services needed ASAP. The administration at this school seems to have it’s preferences of cliques and races despite the socioeconomic levels, which should never be a factor anyway. All races are classified and the minorities are handed the short end of the stick regarding grades and behaviors. I’m a business owner, head of a department at my full-time job, and hold a masters degree yet my son nor I were good enough for this group. I have had gifts for my son snatched out of my hand in front of assemblies, I’ve been degraded and belittled in front of others, and I have watched my son suffer from this faux hierarchy. This school year they’ve hired an African American assistant principal to off-set the underlying motive of the school but there has been no change in the racist tension and undertone of the faculty. I am sure she will be oppressed and her role will be minimized. I withdrew my son last week after he cried everyday from sundown to sun up for the first few weeks of school. I attempted to have his teacher changed and presented evidenced based facts pertaining to how his emotional and psychosocial well-being suffered and was denied. I refuse to allow him to be treated this way this year. Now he wakes up an hour early to go to school because he’s excited, not nervous and afraid that his teacher does not like him.

Leadership has a Superior attitude and are cable of not telling the true whenever confronted on a situation. Also can be bias.

The principal, Rebecca McAlister, is probably one of the worst people I have ever met in my life. She has no regard for children and should not be around children. I agree with another reviewer when they wrote " The principal's "superior" attitude, dismissive style and disrespectfulness were a little too much to bear.It might be recommended that this principal think about retiring as her attitude towards me was appalling!" I totally agree with this. She should be fired! She is very self-centered, gossipy and vindictive.

My daughter's kindergarten teacher was fantastic BUT the principal and support staff were very short. The principal's "superior" attitude, dismissive style and disrespectfulness were a little too much to bear. I hoped that I would be warmly welcomed as a new parent, but that wasn't the case. Needless to say, my daughter was transferred to different elementary school where she deserves to be and the school deserves her! It might be recommended that this principal think about retiring as her attitude towards me was appalling!

my son was very shy when starting kindergarten but has grown confident and happy in this wonderful little school. The staff are kind & caring my family could not be happier.

We loved the small, close-knit atmosphere of the school. It's a great place for young children to adjust to school in a safe, friendly environment. As long as they are "normal." The administration has limited understanding of or tolerance for children with special needs. Appearances are more important than substance when it comes to making sure the needs of our special kids are being met. the "3" rating is halfway between a "5" for general education and "1" for kids with special needs.

We love this school! We have a very energetic and imaginative 6-year-old son who has always been challenging for teachers, but the teachers at Alma Easom have always been patient with him and communicative with me. The school has a very sweet atmosphere, tons of involved parents and a real community feel. My son is in 1st grade this year and is EXCITED to go to school everyday. I would - and have - recommend this school to other parents.

I was very disappointed by this school, particularly because I had heard such wonderful things prior to my daughter attending kindergarden. Instead, we experienced a class that was frequently disrupted by a violent student...a string of assistant teachers...a lead teacher who was fired in the last month of school (with no explanation)...and a principal who refused to admit there were problems in the class until the parents had to take it upon themselves to go to the school board. I strongly believe the principal believes in keeping up appearances rather than actually doing the hard work to ensure success for students...and for that reason, I cannot recommend this school. Thankfully, my daughter was able to attend first grade elsewhere, and has made great strides in making up for the education she missed at Alma Easom.
