This school outshines many other middle schools in the area. There are so many sports, clubs, and events, I really feel like I have a lot of opportunities to be present in my child's academics. My son definitely struggled as he has his own special needs but the school was always willing to listen and address my concerns. I had one issue with his social studies teacher not grading his work properly last year during his 8th grade year there but I never brought it up with admin, if I did I'm sure they would have addressed it and I found out he no longer works there anyway. I read reviews about behaviors and fights but that was not my experience, my son even said that the principal would open address issues such as vaping rather than hide the issues under the rug which I respect. The school isn't encouraging those behaviors but they aren't ignoring this generations issues either and that is what is important. The school was always inviting parent to come in and volunteer or help out it's not on them if families do not accept the invitations to be more involved. I would definitely recommend this school over many other in the county.

There are a lot of problems with this school. Presently, there’s a massive vaping and alcohol problem. Administration is absolutely incompetent, from yelling at students with *disabilities* for falling down to forgetting to dish out punishments. There are few teachers who attempt to make their lessons actually engaging. Fighting and bullying is immensely common. Some teachers don’t even try to discipline their students and ignore them, even if they are blatantly rule-breaking, such as students shouting racial slurs and inappropriate words in class and in the halls. Switching schools as quickly as I can if possible.

This school is awful, they do not support the students and do not guide them if they are struggling. They do not contact the parent. Too much homework. This school has made my child have anxiety and depression.

This school is terrible. I have yet to even see the principal and some of the teachers there are are very rude. Talking with the administration is a waste of time because nothing ever gets done. I will not be sending my child to this school next year.

No structure to the students homework. Some teachers use google classroom, some use other websites. There is no place for parents to keep track of homework effectively.

Administration is terrible at this school. Even after my child was hurt in gym class and needed crutches, I wasn’t noticed of his injury. During his time of his injury, he was picked on by students as well as teachers for his injury. I brought this up with the administration and requested to talk with the principal but she was yet again unavailable. Terrible school.

Please do not allow the warm greetings and falsified smiles fool you at this school. My niece attends and this school is an infestation of both immature and unprofessional personnel. Some of the teachers conduct themselves as the students they teach using vulgar language, unappropriate demands and threats. The level of “pettiness” is a great representation of the principle whom overexerts her authority, untruthful and possess and attitude that she prohibits from other students. A newer school does not necessarily mean better. Be cautious.

As with most things you get out what you put in. If you expect the staff to do everything while you do nothing you get nothing. Parents have to hold their students to high expectations and actively work at the school to make it better. Show you care. Students have to do what is asked of them and work hard to do it well. Show it matters. When that happens teachers will rise to the occasion and teach passionately. The results will show. It worked for me and my family.

There is no one that tries to stop any kind of cyberbullying. Fights are constantly trying to be started. There is name calling and picking on every single day and lots of it too and staff has done nothing to prevent and stop it.

Not many people show leadership between staff and students. Students are not usually leaders because not many people do what right and the teachers somewhat show leadership but not enough for students or other staff to follow it.

The staff does not encourage or teach students respect and character. They do not care about who you are and if you are a good person or not.

The teachers are not effective teaching or disciplining. They do not teach lessons more than half of the time they just give you notes to copy and expect you to know everything about it. With discipline because even if the staff gives them silent lunch they will still continue with the bad behavior.

They do not make it clear to students what their homework is. Sometimes they will give you loads of homework when you might already have a project in the same class but other times they won't give you any when the class might be doing bad and needs extra help.

Some of the teachers have a lack of concern for the students. The kids are outright disrespectful. They continuously talk back, argue and ignore what teachers say. Most teachers can not control the behavior or even try to. I think it would benefit them well if they took behavioral management classes. Overall I don't think this is a suitable school for children that want to learn and want to be at school.

Being that we're not from the states I from England my little brother from Australia it's astonishing to me of how my little brother really has found a school that he feels welcomed in, the teachers are excellent and I feel ok knowing they have a strong security team.

My son went here for 6th and we had a great transition from elementary school (which I was nervous about). The teachers and administration are great and the facility is beautiful. My son loved it and flourished at this school. We recently moved to DC because we are military and my son frequently says how much he misses NCIMS. Overall if you are searching for a good middle school that is not overcrowded this is a great place to go!
