Very little support (in every capacity) for teachers and staff, poor pay, no benefits, and many teachers with Montessori training/credentials that can be described as dubious at best (if they have any at all). If, as a teacher or parent, you are looking for an authentic Montessori experience, look elsewhere.

We had a very disappointing experience with Triangle Montessori Academy. Based on what we observed:

The administration was not supportive and communication was often unhelpful.

The facilities felt outdated and not well maintained compared to other schools we visited.

We found the leadership style of the head of school to be brusque and lacking the patience we would expect in a Montessori environment.

As parents, we did not feel this was the right environment for our child, and we ultimately chose to leave. I would encourage other families to carefully evaluate the school in person before making a decision.

After spending time at this school, we decided it wasn't the right fit for our family. Communication could be more consistent, and we experienced some staffing changes that affected classroom continuity.
The facilities seem to need updates, and we felt our child would benefit from smaller class sizes and more individualized attention. The academic programs met basic requirements but lacked some of the enrichment activities we were hoping to find.
Overall, the experience didn't align with our expectations. Other families may have different needs, but we ultimately found a better match elsewhere

I wanted to share our experience regarding the school's operating hours and late pickup policy, which has proven particularly challenging for working parents like ourselves. The school's dismissal time of 4:30 PM creates significant difficulties for families with standard work schedules, as many professional positions require presence until 5:00 PM or later.
What compounds this issue is the school's strict late pickup fee structure. Parents are charged $5 per minute after the 4:30 PM deadline. During our time at the school, these fees accumulated quickly on days when traffic was heavy or work commitments ran unexpectedly long.

I feel compelled to share our recent experience with this school. Our interactions with the administration have been consistently disappointing. During parent-teacher meetings, the management team appeared dismissive of our concerns and rarely allowed us to complete our thoughts before interjecting with their own perspectives. Rather than fostering collaborative dialogue, they seemed intent on directing conversations toward predetermined conclusions.

I wanted to share our family's experience regarding playground safety at this school. Last year, our child came home with an injury from playing on one of the older playsets on the school grounds. The incident required us to seek medical attention.
As concerned parents, we naturally brought this to the school's attention. We hoped the school would take some action to address what we saw as a potential safety issue.
Unfortunately, we were disappointed when we later heard from another parent that their child had been injured on the same playset. It appeared that no changes had been made to the equipment between these incidents.

Concerned About Environmental Safety and Transparency

As parents of a child at Triangle Montessori, we felt it was our responsibility to verify the safety of the school building regarding potential environmental hazards. Since the building was constructed in the early 1970s, it falls within the timeframe when harmful materials like asbestos (banned in 1989), lead paint (banned in 1978), and PCBs (banned in 1979) were commonly used in construction.

We simply requested to see documentation of required testing for these substances—particularly the federally-mandated Asbestos Management Plan that all schools must maintain under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). These aren't excessive demands; they're standard safety protocols designed to protect children's health.

Instead of receiving these records or even confirmation that testing had been performed, we were redirected to the school's attorney who stated: "There will be no response regarding requests for the production of records or documents." This complete refusal to provide any safety information is deeply concerning.

Parents should be aware that:

Exposure to these substances can have serious health implications for developing children. Lead exposure affects brain development, asbestos is linked to respiratory diseases including cancer, and PCBs are associated with various health problems.

Schools have legal obligations to conduct certain environmental testing and maintain records that should be accessible to parents.

The lack of transparency makes it impossible to verify whether proper safety protocols are being followed.

We're sharing this experience not to disparage the school's educational programs, but because we believe parents deserve complete information about their children's learning environment. A school that values safety and transparency should willingly provide documentation of compliance with environmental regulations or, at minimum, explain their testing procedures.

We hope the school will reconsider its position and recognize that environmental safety documentation should be readily available to concerned parents.

Our daughter was a student at TMA since she was a toddler (2 years old). Now she is a thriving Kindergartener at a public elementary school who is far ahead academically compared to her peers. We are so fortunate to be able to send our daughter to TMA and equip her with a strong foundation, academically and character-wise too. The teachers and overall environment are amazing and nurturing. The Head of School always tries to find areas of improvement and provides the children with the best education.

We love Triangle Montessori Academy! We have been there almost three years and now have two children at the school. They have both thrived at TMA. The teachers are wonderful and the director has done an excellent job of maintaining a happy, steady place for our children the past few years. Especially throughout the COVID pandemic, we feel very grateful to send our kids to such a safe, welcoming community.

Our daughter loves TMA! The teachers are WONDERFUL and really care about the students.
Due to COVID we haven't been able to spend a lot of time in the classroom, but we love getting the updates through the day via the app that they use.

Ms. Joanna is an amazing teacher. I can't speak about others because we didn't experience them, but I can't say enough wonderful things about Ms. Joanna.

The Montessori method focuses heavily on grace and courtesy when interacting with others. I wish adults had the respect and social problem solving skills of the kids in my son's class at TMA.

My son attended TMA for two years after we moved to the area. The feeling of community and compassion is incomparable. My son completed kindergarten, and we were heartbroken for him to have to leave such a wonderful place. The playground is huge and shaded, the teachers are kind and effective, and the focus on teaching children to be kind and courteous with one another was the perfect fit for us.

I looked at many preschools and had extremely high standards for loving my children and instilling a love for learning with my children. I wanted them to grow confident and kind. TMA is the ONLY one that I felt met my standards in the area. This is not the school where brick and mortar and frills and bells and whistles matter, this is substance over style. They don't need to show off their facilities because their biggest asset are their teachers and their program. This is an EXCEPTIONAL school, and the teachers and founder are passionate about their kids and what they do. They are the most diverse community, experienced, loving, caring, and nurturing school, and having moved to many states and we are an international family, I have found NOTHING that compares or matches the highest standard - they are really good at what they do, they are extremely humble and down to earth, and they love our kids like their own. I couldn't be more proud and more grateful for their partnership and trust them with my child's well being whole heartedly. Our biggest sadness was leaving this school when we moved to the West Coast, because they were our family and our support system, so that says it all!

It's what you're looking for! Our son started at TMA and has been there now for 3 years coming up this June. We've looked at MSR, Heartwood, Kingswood, Raleigh School and many other montessori and traditional pre-school options when we started, and we chose TMA for several reasons. The teachers are trained, certified, and keep up to date with professional development. The principal believes in regular CE and training, and that helps keep the curriculum up to date, with fresh ideas circulating in. Our son has been with nearly all the teachers there, and they have all been compassionate and nurturing, helping him to develop into a great young man. They understand and heavily incorporate the montessori teaching philosophy into all their activities, and it shows in their projects and work that are displayed at the school. Tuition is competitive with other schools in the same category, and they offer before/after care, extra activities/classes on a pay per activity basis. The school is smaller than Heartwood, which is what we were looking for.
At the end of the day, other schools had pretty stuff, and pretty facilities, but when we delved further with questions, they just didn't execute as well as TMA did. I care more about the personal interactions and attention that my son gets on a daily basis, and I'll trade pretty buildings and big playgrounds in for a collection of great teachers who are dedicated to what they do, have the versatility to work with children at all skill levels, and take the initiative to meet children where they are, and push them to be better. I believe we could not have picked a better place for our son to grow up in.

Over the last two years, our son has been attending Triangle Montessori Academy.
We are so impressed with the way the teachers treat all the children. Our little boy has learned so much and has grown emotionally and developmentally.
We, also, love the fact that Triangle Montessori makes a great emphasis on exposing its students to different cultures; as a result, our son loves geography and talks about traveling the world.

If you like hands on learning and want to raise an independent learner and thinker this Montessori Preschool is the place you should bring your little one. Over the last 3 years both of our kids attended this beautiful place to grow and we could not be more pleased with the Montessori trained teachers, the nice backyard and the warm and always welcoming head of the school. We are totally in love with this place and are sad to say goodbye since our kids have outgrown the preschool age. All the best for the school and hopefully many more happy children for years to come.
