I am a past student who has recently graduated from DMS and I am not going to look back on it with rose tinted glasses. Well start off with learning, I was someone who always had good grades if given the ability to and it was fine but it was always very uninteresting at times and I found it hard to actually get into it. They also had a thing called learning academy instead of study hall so I had no free time to catch up on work and had to sit through a class where I learned nothing and provided me with nothing but cons not a single pro to it.

On to teaching, the teachers are alright. There are a lot more bad apples in the bunch than you would think though. I had one (not saying the name) who could not teach a whole class. She wouldve worked better in small groups but could not do the whole class. The grading system is horrid. Half the teachers dont understand and its obvious they only did it because now it doesnt sound like youre failing.

Social-emotional support could be good now but in my experience the guidance counselor who was there the whole except for my last year did not help. She wouldve worked better tell parents anything and everything that happened even if it wasnt dangerous and proved that she couldnt be trusted by students so nobody went to her bottled it up because they knew they couldnt trust her. The one my last year was amazing though. <3 you Dr. Breualt! Special education I gave 4 because I have no experience with but the teachers seem amazing and supportive whenever they bring the kids into the classes.

Safety could be better. I was there in 6th and there was a bomb threat on the school. They got everyone out quickly so thats good but originally they didnt tell parents the truth until a few hours later. There was also a girl who jumped on and attacked another girl. She was promptly held down and put in handcuffs by the resources officer.

They do alright in family engagement by having constant things for families to go to.

I used to go to Dover schools from 2nd to 7th grade and recently moved at the end of the seventh grade school year. My honest opinion about the school is that I would not recommend sending your child here number one the teachers dont care a single bit if any of the students actually learn anything. I will admit that I wasnt the best student grades wise, but still I pushed to try to get some extra help. I even talked to the guidance counselor about it and they shrugged off and refuse my request for help. There was constantly broken, sinks, toilets, soap, dispensers, towel, dispensers, etc they also didnt crack down on any bad behavior or bullying at all. The students here are toxic and not great influences. I only knew a few girls that didnt vape or smoke. Aside from that the school lunches were horrible. None of the vending machines worked and the school overall just needs some maintenance I think.

There was a time when my children bartended this school I would give it three and possibly four stars. Now my grandchildren attend this school and it has gone down the tubes so far I don't think it will ever recover! The state standings went from top ten a generation ago to the lower 30% today. We pay outrageous taxes to their schools and have increased staff 3x with same student teacher ratios, yet they cannot teach them math especially and adequate reading. The teachers union only cares about money and the school board only cares about teachers. The last election they even went on record saying their priority is teacher saleries, not education or the children. Pathetic

My experience is awful. I cant go a day without my daughter coming home telling me her teachers harass her. There is no privacy, seeing how there are cameras all around our school and in the bathrooms. This place should be out of business. Teachers harass you infront of the class, and will make you feel horrid.
