I sent my daughter here for her first year of high school and she was miserable the whole time. She was bullied and did not feel it was a safe environment for her to talk to counselors or teachers. She has an IEP and it was disregarded so she was put in standard classes that she felt were easy and boring. She only had two teachers that she felt were kind towards the students and both were relatively new (One being in their 3rd year and the other in their 1st). The focus is on sports and athletics and students that do not enjoy those types of things are disregarded. She witnessed many students vaping, smoking, and bullying other students. She often walked into the cafeteria bathrooms and saw other girls vaping inside. She will not be returning. Do not send your child here.

I started sending my teens here last year, as its our home school. I was highly impressed. I am a licensed teacher in another district with 15 years experience. I normally enrolled my kids where I taught because it was easier for me to match school calendars but now that they are old enough to be on there own, they wanted to go to RRHS with neighborhood friends.
The staff is incredibly helpful and professional. I have always received a response from admin and teachers, within 24 hours. All inquiries were addressed swiftly. Many of the teachers are level II or III and most I have interacted with have advanced degrees, so they are subject matter experts. I also have an MA but most staff I've worked with are Pre-Level I or Level I with little experience and my kids didn't always get the best education.
The rigger is high. My kids had 4.0 at their previous schools without trying. Here they have to study every night and they earned their 3.75. They also have AP classes and dual credit classes. I appreciate this so much, as a teacher mom.
The homework is usually appropriate but some teachers do assign homework that is excessive and my kids have done homework at the dinner table, while we ate and we'll past their bedtime, to finish it. Studies show that excessive homework that takes more than an hour (this is just for 1 class) do not have beneficial outcomes. It isn't all teachers but teens shouldn't be spending 3 hours on homework after school, everyday for 7 classes.
The school has a plethora of clubs and sports. My kids had lots to chose from and enjoyed all the activities. I will say my child was cut from sports this year, due to a new coach and they were devastated. That particular coach made comments about my child in front of other students and it got back to me, that was inappropriate. They are new to RR but I'm taking a star off for lack of training and professionalism in the sports department. We spent a large amount of time and money and I wasn't personally contacted as to why the cut happened. The former teammates are still friends and still come to my house and they shared the coaches comments. There is never a reason to comment on students appearance or parent involvement.
Overall I am happy. My kids are adjusted and enjoy RRHS. They have friends and activities. It does suck a little that the school year calendar doesn't match exactly but it was the best decision to send them here. Everyone but the new coach is amiable.

This has ti be the worse school. Drugs, vaping, bullies both students and most of the teachers. School is the same as a jail or prison. Drugs, vaping and sk camera all over but doesn't stop all the illegal drugs, smoking, vaping and sells that happen. Teachers pick on kids and don't stop bullies but promote it. Do your self a favor don't send your kids here. I wish I would have read a review telling me how bad this school is.

I had to switch to independence due to this school refusing to look into my transcripts. they told me I was over 5 credits behind and I wouldn't graduate, when in reality I was only missing two credits and could graduate on time. this school caused me so much stress and the teachers could care less about the students. the entire administration team doesn't care about the students. this school is the worst I've ever been to. they failed me in so many ways.

Constant major drug busts and parents weren't notified found out in the news! Teachers are given permission to verbally abuse parents after an involved parent expressed their concerns for poor parent teacher communication. Graduation became a "chore" for administration and didn't allow the seniors anything to express individuality and excitement. It was a "routine" they had to complete and limited the amount of tickets families could get with no opportunity to get more. Teachers are "doing their job" vs growing young minds and inspirating children to be more.

SHAME that this is supposed to be one of the best high schools in NM. The academics are mediocre. There are some wonderful teachers but not many. Some quit before the end of semester. What is supported is only athletics. Very little attention to gifted students. The administration is disgrace. There isn't coordination between offices. The staff misleads students or honor students are being pulled out of final exams which leads to reducing their academic achievements. The nurse makes inappropriate comments about sick students. The principles don't follow up or take responsibility. This comes close to bulling if done intentionally. The result is the same for the students victims of adult misconduct or incompetence. Student GRADES DO NOT REFLECT THEIR KNOWLEDGE. Most of the time students do UNNECESSARY GRADED homework which in case of health problems and students sick leave, if it is not submitted later on time, REDUCES GRADES drastically even if the final exam and all tests are graded A and show knowledge and understanding. THIS LEAVES THE QUESTION OPEN - IS THE SCHOOL HELPING OR REDUCING THE STUDENTS CHANCES TO FURTHER THEIR EDUCATION IN GOOD COLLEGES WITH SCHOLARSHIPS and WHY?

Horrible place to work. The high number of new staff members should have been a clue. Principals provide zero leadership and are just looking to pass the buck and disengaged. If you are a special ed students there is no desire to provide any meaningful support. A moment that made me sick was during a presentation on bullying kids actually got bullied. When I mentioned it to the person leading the presentation she just threw her hands up and said oh well those two are like that. If you have a special ed child this isn't the place to enroll your child. A heartbreaking soul crushing place to work.

I am an RRHS Alum from the class of 2010. The AP classes at RRPS helped me prepare for college and helped me earn enough credits to start as a sophomore. It was a great place to learn and grow
