I am honestly getting fed up with this school. My kids constantly come home expressing concerns about things that are happening. I feel like if you dont want to work in a school environment, then you shouldnt be working with children. The first day of school was chaotic, rules were changed without proper communication, and it felt like we were expected to be mind readers. My first grader was yelled at for being in the hallway, even though the teacher didnt see that I was with him. Her whole tone changed once I rounded the corner. The school needs to be more organized, communicate expectations clearly, and most importantly, treat the kids with patience and respect.

I love that Corrales is the local school in our community. It is a warm and caring environment; many of the teachers are residents of the Village and bring the Village feel to the school. I am excited that this the school will soon add an 8th grade. My kids can keep attending our local school! Great choice for Corrales and the BEST school in Corrales (with the best test scores!).

They meet in committees and balance needs with kids testing requirements, time and ability for each grade.

Great staff and dedicated teachers. Strong community involvement. Hard to beat that in any school. We had great experience with our kid who started this year. They would do so much better if they break free from APS (worst run education system in the country) bureaucracy and rules that do no good for the schools or students.

If your child does not present a challenge, this school is mediocre at best. However, I have an autistic son that was suspended three times in the first month for a variety of typical autistic if not five year old behaviors. One of the incidents, he bit a teacher that was physically restraining him and was charged with a felony. We also walked in on his Occupational Therapist lying and restraining him on a bean bag since he would not follow directions. Patricia Steiner is incompetent at best. You be the judge if you want to send your child to this school and hope that they fit in.

Four of my children went to Corrales Elementary and my youngest still attends. The teachers are very proactive and responsive, and I felt they truly cared about my chidren who had special needs ranging from gifted/exceptional to dyslexia. There is a strong feeling of community. Events like the Fall Festival, Celebration of Children and Talent Show get better every year. I love that Officer Heaton conducts traffic every morning, presents the DARE program and attends school activities with his little chihuahua in tow. Just an all round great school coming from an all round great community.

I have two children at Corrales. It is a wonderful school. Very good teachers. A lot of parent involvement. PTA is hardworking. It has gliches and rough spots, any public school does. We don't have bullies. I will miss this school when we are done. Corrales is the best public school around!

Teachers and staff are very good overall and my 2 kids really like it there. However the new principal has already made many grievous missteps this year, two of which directly affected my son, and we are only 1 month into the school year. Not sure where they found her, but it makes me question APS administration's abilities. My wife and I are considering pulling both kids from Corrales and home-schooling them.

Corrales Elementary is a great school. The staff and community members work hard to keep the school at the heart of the community. The adults are kind and inclusive. The teachers's are conscientious, helpful and approachable, for the most part. The only unsafe aspect of the school is the way some parents and community members drive.

There was very poor communication between the teacher and us and my child did not feel welcome here at all. Overall it was not a good experience and glad my child is no longer attending here.

Totally miserable experience! My son's teacher is rude, unhelpful and negative. She has been very difficult to try to communicate with either written communication or talking to her. I don't feel like my son is learning anything here. There are a couple parents involved but they are not receptive to new parents at all. The PTA is very disorganized and also not welcoming.

This is a wonderful school. Can't say enough about the teachers here! The front office could certainly try to be nicer and more informed though but I feel like my child is very safe here and well cared for!

I am confused at all the positive reviews here. Too many kids in classes and, same as another commenter, I have two children at the school. I don't know what's going on at the school, but it is certainly not a positive experience for me or my children. Having spent 3 years as a substitute teacher in another state, I am shocked at the issues here. Do not recommend this school at all.

NO STARS! Terrible school. The reviews about children that need a little extra help, it is not here. Two of my children attended there, one of them is very smart and picks up on everthing. The other child has always needed a little help and is very shy. The teacher that had my boy smart boy always had good thigs to say. The other teacher suggested that a social worker might help him (my shy boy). The school seems like they only want to keep the children that learn WITHOUT any help. In contrast, try to get rid of the children that go to school to learn from the teachers. The saying "No child left behind, yah right, the school will insult the parents and outcast your child until you take them out of the school. BEWARE, teachers that dont teach, just looking for a free pay check and high school rating by getting rid of children not up to par in their eyes. That is my opinion

This school is good. Really. Because the way i see it is that it is HORRIBLE I don't recommend this school to anyone. Yah thats right 0 stars. Examples: mean staff and teachers, rude kids and horrible after care teachers. Don't go here!!!!

A terrific school. Well balanced. Great leadership. I would recommend the school to anyone. The community is involved in many aspects of the school.

Teachers that care. Beautiful campus. Happy Kids!

We love Corrales Elementary for all the beautiful students in the community and the Study Buddy program that pairs community volunteers with students.

This is an excellent school that puts the kids first in everything they plan and do. the community works hard to foster the childrena along as they were each a member of the community's family.

Corrales Elementary School got my two kids off to a great start and now my granddaughter attends. Teachers and parents are very supportive, great COMMUNITY within the school. Long tradition of good programming and excellent teachers. Safe environment teaching good relationship skills. Outstanding counselor!

Great programs and teachers! This learning environment fosters mental growth thats lacking in many other elementary schools.

It is the best! Very active - friendly staff - great programs.

a fine example of dedicated teachers and community active parents. Every child is embraced in the learning system at school and at home.

My children attend Corrales Elementary currently. They have been apart of this school for 4 years. This school is great! The teachers are caring, firm when needed, and really give the kids a sense of being apart of a team. I wouldn't take my children to any other school in New Mexico! One of daughters does have a learning disability and the special education team which we work with has been awesome to say the least! She couldn't read at the beginning of 1st grade and was able to before the middle of the school year! I am more than pleased with corrales elementary school! Also, you never have to worry about outsiders being in or around the school. The teachers all recognize the parents and/or other family members who pick up the children and if they don't they are very quick to ID anyone! I LOVE that!

The best of the best? Really? I would give Corrales Elementary NO STARS if it were a choice. I would not recommend this school to anybody especially parents of special needs children. My child's so-called teacher was incompetent, inexperienced, and spent more time texting than teaching. My child did not get an education while attending this school, and we lost valuable time that we will never get back. The staff treated my child with contempt instead of compassion and for this they should be ashamed of themselves. If you're looking for a good school for your child, consider someplace other than Corrales Elementary.

We were really looking forward to sending our child to Corrales Elementary - we are part of the Corrales community and all of the school reviews, both online and word-of-mouth, were very positive. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Our son has special needs, and we were lead to believe that his needs would be addressed and supported here. Corrales Elementary teachers are not qualified to or interested in educating children with special needs. My child was treated and looked upon as a classroom burden. This school may serve typically developing children well, but please consider another option if your child requires special needs support.
