Communication sucks, sports and PE are terrible, trying to skip a grade is nearly impossible, there is very few electives or choices of classes, all of the teachers seem to hate the student and teaching in general. I could go on and on, as a student DONT SEND YOUR KID HERE

I love this school. It encourages me to work hard and to enjoy hard work. It gives you and academic challenge and if you or your child can't keep up then this school is not for you. The gym class is wonderful. I got into shape and I have learned that some things in life are uncomfortable and some things are going to be hard but you can not quit whenever. The teachers here are so nice and loving. They care for you and your health. In the end this school is amazing for an academic challenge and a boost start in your school ahead of you.

This school will ruin your childs mental health. The reason they score so well and have such a high ranking is because they make the course work and material so hard that only those who are extremely exceptionally smart can stay without failing their classes. The principal does not care about the students, nor do many of the teachers. If your child is a mindless robot, this is the perfect school for them.

I have a very bright and hard working student. The time he spent at AIMS was the worst of his academic years. I feel compelled to share my experience. Although there academic program is good they allow bad behavior and bulling to flourish unchecked. They have a practice of disciplining all students with excessive homework for the behavior of a few bad ones. They have no effective procedures to deal with these students. This makes it a bad environment for all students. They ignore bullying complaints and chalk it up to boys will be boys. The academic homework can be excessive and very repetitive. The students are not allowed any social time and this may be part of the bad behavior issue. They have a few minutes between class to get to next one and a short lunch with the entire school crammed in hall ways, on sidewalks, or wherever they can sit. Kids at this age need some social time. This is strictly a standards courses school without any creative outlets, no art, music, or theater. As a lottery school any students can attend whether they take it seriously or not. The positive I can take from my students experience is he never complains about his new school due to how bad his experience at AIMS was.

This school is no longer an APS (Albuquerque Public School). The school council has re-chartered as a State Charter school and has no affiliation with APS any longer. It is a free public school.
