Very unfortunate to have to write this review, but I would not recommend your child to be enrolled anywhere near this school unfortunately they are extremely unprofessional and under educated. The overall behavior of the students at the school is concerning. Administration does nothing to address behavior. They do not do their part in contacting parents until months later and when asked why they get very defensive and say they don’t have time for just “your” child. Administration seems to not care about following their own protocol because they are not doing their job . Unfortunately I did have to dis enroll my child and was basically thrown a disenrollment form instead of addressing the issue correctly. They should be ashamed of themselves that after losing their principle and getting a new one nothing has been the same . I second and support the review below mine and completely agree with the parent and have also been a victim to having to move my child and disturb their education because of irresponsible and inconsiderate staff.

My children have attended this school since kindergarten and first grade, so my perspective is based on several years of direct experience with the school environment.

Over time, I have observed a consistent pattern in how behavioral challenges are addressed. There appears to be a limited capacity among staff to assess emotional regulation, developmental needs, and the underlying causes of certain behaviors before disciplinary action is taken. Corrections are often immediate and compliance-focused, rather than educational or developmentally responsive, and redirection frequently lacks a comprehensive or preventative approach.

I have also noticed significant staff and administrative turnover, including multiple teachers leaving mid–school year and repeated changes in school leadership. This instability impacts consistency in expectations, relationship-building, and effective behavior support for students.

In addition, disciplinary responses—particularly in situations involving physical or emotional dysregulation—often do not reflect an understanding of child development or child psychology. Without appropriate analysis and guided redirection, these approaches can escalate behaviors rather than resolve them.

These concerns are not isolated to my family. Several parents within my community have chosen to remove their children from the school due to similar experiences and concerns regarding behavioral support and administrative consistency.

My intention in raising these issues is not to assign blame, but to advocate for developmentally appropriate, emotionally informed practices that support both students and staff. I believe children benefit most in environments where behavior is understood as communication and addressed through proactive, skill-building strategies rather than solely through correction or consequence.

I appreciate the opportunity to share these concerns and hope they can contribute to meaningful discussion and improvement.

Teachers are very dedicated and spend a lot of time outside of school hours to prepare each day. Administration is very supportive of staff, students, and parents. They take time to listen and problem solve.

My son attended kindergarten and 1st grade at MCE a couple of years ago and did not have a good experience at the school. His teachers lacked compassion and understanding regarding his ADHD and were not very accommodating of his needs. In addition to this struggle, TWICE we had major snafus with the bus system and their transportation policies which are absolutely ludicrous!

On his very 1st day of 1st grade and his 1st time ever riding the bus, they put him on the WRONG bus...so we waited and waited and he never got off the bus which obviously sent us into a panic. We called the school and thankfully they took him back and had him waiting in the office for us to pick him up. Thankfully he was ok, but was definitely a little traumatized from the experience. After this happened, we got him a watch that shows his location and we are able to communicate via text or call if need be...and thank goodness we did because the second time it happened was FAR WORSE.

The school had an early dismissal during a winter storm and rather than calling parents, they simply sent out a TEXT. Being that my husband and I were at work at the time, our phones were on silent so we did not get the message until AFTER the children had been sent home on their respective busses. Rather than take him back to the school until someone could pick him up, THEY JUST LEFT HIM AT THE BUS STOP...BY HIMSELF IN THE SNOW with no one there!!! He was only 6 years old at the time! Our only saving grace was the watch we got him and a sweet older student who took it upon herself to stay with him until we could get there (at the time, I worked 30 minutes away & my husband worked in Santa Fe). I was able to speak with the older girl & contact her mother who was nice enough to let him wait in their car with the heater on until I arrived. Needless to say, I was outraged by this gross negligence and complained to the principal who really didn't do anything other than feign understanding, but didn't really do anything about it. We got lucky....things could have turned out so much worse.

We have since moved to Ventana Ranch where my son and I have had a much better experience with his teachers and staff/principal. It has been night and day from our previous experience. My hope is that things have improved in the last couple of years at MCE, but for us, the school left a very bad taste in our mouths and we would not recommend it to our friends or family.

We have had a great experience with MCE with our daughter. Her teacher was very involved and kept us informed with her progress and areas she needed work. Their before and after school program was also very helpful and our daughter loved it.

We have had a good experience with this school. The teachers have been great about communicating with me and the staff has always been helpful and easy to communicate with. My children have had individual support and attention, and we are happy with the school overall.

I never had the problems that others are mentioning at this school. The administration has always been supportive of my son, who has ADHD, and quick to address my concerns. He always had as much individualized attention as possible (which is difficult with overloaded classes). Almost all the teachers are amazing as well. Ms. Roman and Mr. Presser are fabulous and were so great with my son. As for common core, this is an ugly beast you will encounter at any school. Yes they do it for funding, but the school can't operate without money so there in lies the catch.

The teachers are wonderful in Kindergarten and first grade, however, the office staff including the principal needs a few lessons in communication and manners 101. Testing for Common Core standards is the main goal of the school to achieve the max funding from government subsidiaries. Individual needs of the child are forgotten.

The school itself is wonderful. My son has had good teachers the last 2 years but the principal, assistant principal and the admissions lady, Theresa, are not up to par. There was a lockdown at the school yesterday and parents weren't notified until the kids made it home. I had to find out from transportation that the busses were being held because of an incident at the school. Theresa hung up on me the first time I called the school for more information, and the second time she wouldn't tell me why my son was still at school an hour after they got out, she told me it wasn't my business to know. So while you get great teachers, the administration is atrocious and something needs to be done.

Great school in the past, but it's so overcrowded now that we're considering moving. There are over 1K kids in a school built for 700. Kids have art, computers and music only twice a month (and that's in a good month with no vacation/closure days). My child eats lunch at 9:50am because they can't fit all of the kids in the cafeteria at lunchtime, so lunches are staggered. Teachers and staff are fed up, and that attitude, while understandable, is beginning to show in interactions with kids and parents. This WAS a good school, but redistricting is long overdue, and the district still has done nothing. Now they're talking about busing kids all the way to northern Rio Rancho (an hour ride each way). We're disappointed, because this was a great school in the past.

An outstanding school. Our two girls thrived at this school. Wonderful teachers and a very well organised school. The principal is loved by all the children and is very approachable to parents. We were very sad to take our girls away from this school.

Have had 3 kids in this school since the day they opened and we love it. Can't imagine having my kids go to any other school. Wonderful teachers, wonderful learning environment, involved PTA, and the best principal I have ever seen. All the children love her so much that she can't walk down the hallway without getting stopped for one hug after another.
