We left a higher rated school due to bullying, teacher inadequacies and principle unresponsiveness. I regret not moving my child earlier. My daughter has thrived since the move. We were worried due to rating sites like this one. I am very glad we did not go by what we saw/read here.

My daughter has at least one to two hours of homework a night. Any more than that, the quality of work will suffer.

All the teachers we have encountered have been very helpful and timely.

West Mesa has not had issues that have had to be elevated to parents in the two years we have been there. We left a "good school" with higher ratings and have had less issues.

For the most part its ok. There are some wonderful teachers who have and continue to have a positive impact on my childs learning. Mr. Andrew Vigil and Ms. LouAnn Fayter are two that make such a difference in their students lives and their learning.

My wife and myself both went to West Mesa Class of 91 and it was a great school back then over crowded bust still a lot of successful adults came out of that area. Now as a father of 3 I have had to make the choices of where to send my children to high school. My oldest now 24 went to St. Pius. great school perfect for her. For my middle child we chose Atrisco Heritage. Now a senior class of 16 she is graduating with full honors and received an academic full ride to NMSU. Now to my son a freshman at WM I let him select his school, a student athlete who was recruited By Volcano Vista, Atrisco heritage and Cibola for football and basketball. After attending a lot of high school games over 4 years prior to this year, He chose West Mesa. He loves it there 3.5 GPA , No Drama, Loves his coaches and teachers. and its in the District we live. High School is about having fun participating in your school and graduating at the highest level you can reach. Athletically APS doesn't produce many D-1 College athletes. Lets be realistic. West Mesa is a Great School that gets a bad rap there are drugs and trouble makers at every school. if your kid is bad there just Bad Kids!
