The staff have a complete disregard for the safety and well-being of their students. My child told me about several instances where they were harassed in the school parking lot with no security around and no cameras. The two harassers continued this for several months before I had to pull my child out of Volcano Vista. This is the last school I would recommend for any child.

Volcano Vista needs strong administration that will deal with the drug problem on campus. My child can't use a restroom on campus without being offered drugs. Administration is aware this is going on and is doing nothing!

This school has a huge drug problem with kids constantly using and selling drugs in the bathrooms. The school is aware of this and doing nothing about it.

This school has way too much emphasis on the sports programs and not enough on the curriculum. It is crowded and has way too many students. And the special ed department is less than par. If your child is more technology and math minded, this is not the school for him/her. Choose a charter or magnet school instead which has a lower teacher to student ratio. That is where you will see your child thrive!

We love this school. This will be our 3rd year coming up. My son plays football and he loves the coaches, teachers and students.

At first this school seemed very promising. It is very new and the facilities it has are fairly decent. That isn't the problem though. The people that actually attend the school are the ones to blame for its unjustifiable mediocrity. The teachers are pretty typical for a public school: They simply don't care enough. The bureaucratic administration is worse though. Nothing ever gets done and more and more pointless rules and regulations are put into place each year that help neither the students nor the teachers. Don't get me wrong, educating the masses is not exactly "easy." I don't blame the faculty entirely for the school's overall incompetence. Besides, the biggest problem by far is the student body itself. Too many kids fail to meet the most basic reading/math standards and fail to pass their classes/graduate. This is in part due to the fact that they are also extremely arrogant and self-centered, both to themselves and the rest of humanity. They are the type of people who boo their own marching band off the field and throw food at them for their own primitive amusement. Pathetic. In the end it's not a terrible school, it just doesn't live up to its full potential.

This is a wonderful school. It was rated 13th in the state as one of the best schools by US News and World Report. Also, the teachers are very kind and really care about their students.

Academics are top notch....strong AP and Honors curriculum. Extra curricular offerings are diverse and fill all interests. Competetive sports programs. The band program is wonderful and expanding all the time. For being a fairly new school, Volcano Vista has made a strong name for itself and I couldn't be happier with the experience my kids are getting!
