This is an above average school and a great alternative to APS. Particularly strong math program. Safe for the kids. Friendly teachers. More parent involvement would help but what they have is great.

A parents worst nightmare. Yesterday, one of our girls a girl who studies fine arts dance) was jumped by a group of kids inside of the school. A large group of her peers (girls) waited for her to gang up and beat her up after class. Our girl defended herself, and now were looking for a different school. The staff was kind enough to video the incident, but did not stop the fight. Were also investigating potential legal recourse. I might expect this in a different public school, or city, or era. Its heartbreaking that a child in a 7th grade charter school has to worry about survival, literally survival. Imagine your child getting punched and kicked in the face. Then consider your alternative options.

I never write reviews. I was excited to get the email to say my niece was accepted and approved to attend kindergarden here. I got a call and set up an appointment to register and take a tour at the Yale location. We were all excited because my other niece and nephew would be attending the same school. We got their and checked in with the front desk every seemed fine. We waited about 20 minutes before I went to the front desk and let them know we had a 2:00 appointment and we have to be somewhere else by 3:30 is there something I could be filling out while I was waiting. I was sent a link to nowhere, LOL I couldn't find anything it directed me to the webpage. More wasted time. I had already left work early to get here on time. Now it's been an hour and no one ever said anything. We walk out and the ladies at the front desk never said a word. I got to my next appt an call the other school on Coors and no one answered the phone it rang and rang until it rolled over to the Yale location as I was complaining the lady recognized who I was and told me that she sent several messages but she never received an answer either but she didn't say anything while we were waiting. She transferred me to a voice mail where I left a message but it has been now three days an I haven't heard anything. After reading reviews I think I will just stick to APS at lease I know that they don't ignore new in coming students. I wish the best to my other niece starting Pre K this coming year. I will be checking on her and my nephew. I will be keeping my eyes out on this school.

4 years of racism. 3 children attended. Several children, including mine, treated with violence, bullying, teacher mistrust, no care from staff. High turn over rate with staff. It's true about no family involvement, we don't know where our kids stand academically until they send out reports. You'll be in the dark and don't dare to want to know what theyre doing with your children all day. It'll turn into a battle. Why do secretive?? My children didn't struggle academically, but that because of what we do at home. One child had bad handwriting that was brought to our attention after switching schools. I raised concern with the Yale campus about this child's grades and the Old Coors principal reached out to me concerned that this child's grades were low. I was also placed on the Waitlist for parent teacher conference and never received a conference, an email, a progress report nothing. At the new school the child is a solid B student and the other child, who always performed well academically(exceeding expectations), who they tried to say was a behavior problem each time he stood up against the racism and bullying, is still performing above the rest. I, as well as many other parents, pulled our kids out of this school in March 2023. It's amazing how all these positive reviews are posted in March. In a cluster. Do your research. Talk to other parents in your community. Put a post out on social media and see what info you get back from real people. Read the Google and social media reviews. Protect your family.

I would recommend this school with reservation. It is much better than the local failing schools, but the opportunity for parent involvement is very little. The kids have very long days with very little opportunity to move around during the day. P.E. depends on which teacher you have. We have had experiences where the kids are sitting inside instead of getting much needed exercise. There is not a real recess time for elementary, as the school counts P.E. as their "recess." Also, high school teachers who literally scream and sweat at the students.

We have seen improvements over the years, but they still have a ways to go. The mission of closing the achievement gap is great and I am sure this school has helped many underprivileged kids.

Its our first year and we have had a great experiences. Small things that have been frustrating are the uniforms that we still haven't received. And the last thing is our PE staff have limited physical activity based on the students not staying in line for the restroom.

My children have been at MAS for the past 5 years. My incoming 5th grader is reading on a 12th grade level and my incoming 3rd grader is in the 99th percentile for math and reading. I attribute so much of their success to the program at MAS. Both children love school and learning. Its never a fight to get them to school. The school provides a supportive environment for the children and families. We were offered the opportunity to move out of state and we wont because we refuse to leave MAS!

I have been sending my kids to this school for 7 years now. I love that they do not have homework when getting home from school (elementary and middle school). Nor to mention I do not have to supply supplies or send lunch money. They concentrate on their education. The staff is really friendly when communicating with us.

MAS is an excellent school. As a parent, MAS is the only option. The resources and support are on another level. I have never been around more individuals that care about the futures of our children. My son will be starting kindergarten this fall. He is excelling in math and reading, thanks to a strong Pre-K program. We are very fortunate to be a part of the strong family setting at MAS.

I came to find Mission Achievement and Success (MAS) Charter School after I saw that my son was not progressing in the Albuquerque Public School (APS) system. The Principal didn't have time to listen to my concerns in the overcrowded APS classrooms but only had concerns of her miniature pig that she kept in the office daily. I then found another charter school but found myself in the office/classroom 3 out of 5 days week to let them know that the math lesson was being taught incorrect. We've been attending MAS for 4 years and the school has created an impact on growth and success from Pre-K to 12 grade. I look forward to the continued growth in my children.

I am currently the College and Career Director for the MAS School District, the only charter to replicate in the State of New Mexico. I have worked here for three years after leaving a 15 year public school teaching career in Roswell, NM. The opportunity I have to work with some of the most amazing young people of Albuquerque has been an enormous blessing. In addition to our structured environment that focuses on rigourous academics our students attend dual credit classes at CNM Community College. Several students have graduated with associate's degrees. We are passionate about supporting our students as they enter their chosen postsecondary path both academically and social emotionally.

MAS is a wonderful school. I'm currently about to begin my second year teaching middle school special education reading. I enjoy the support, encouragement, and love I get from the administration and the coaching team. My experience thus far at this school has been wonderful. My son attends mas and has attended mas since kindergarten. My son is moving onto the seventh grade and his overall progression is amazing. The bell to bell instruction, the co taught classrooms, the discipline and structure all are things a successful school needs. Mas embodies them all. Im thankful to Ms.Mitchell and her staff.

I am a teacher at MAS. I am proud to have worked there for nine years, nearly since the beginning. I have not only watched the school grow, I have seen its founder's vision blossom into full fruition: As the students come up through the system, their academic skills are growing by leaps and bounds, year-by-year. The high school, where I work, has not only become a place where students are prepared for college-- with excellent teachers and rigorous classes-- but they are guided through the application process and assisted in their applications for financial aid. And this is in addition to their on-going dual-credit program. Most juniors and seniors, and even a few sophomores, take college classes at CNM, working towards Associate Degrees.

MAS is also a full-inclusion school, where students with challenges are allowed to learn along with everyone else. I cannot tell you how incredibly successful this has been for the kids. I have seen them learn and grow so much, and attain so much. Some of our proudest accomplishments have been in students on the autism spectrum, especially when we watch them walk across the stage at their graduation ceremonies, to receive their diplomas.

Our kids come from some pretty diverse backgrounds, and some of them pretty rough. But they have a place here, they have a school that won't give up on them, a school that has a record of proven success, and an academic home where they can learn to succeed and make something of themselves.

I rated my experience with MAS as it empowered me to become a more persistent catalyst of change who always believes that every child deserves a champion to see their potential, dream big, and make it happen to be successful. As a dream weaver, this is my 27th year as a teacher, and a global educator/ambassador, and this school has shown me the possibilities where others had given up with our youth of today.
Being a part of this institution is like walking in a massive rainforest but the irony is you are not lost because the administration headed by the CEO Ms. JoAnn Mitchell, along with her CAO Sherrye Hubbard, and the entire leadership team has paved the way for others to learn and fully understand the core of its purpose. The opportunity and provision for me as a teacher have been one of the reasons that I am able to contribute to an institution that benefits and creates an impact on the growth and success of our diverse community of learners. Such impact echoes that Learning is always growing, and it became a universal language that knows no boundaries to improve life through education...
The MAS Community is a growing haven not only for professionals but also for we are shaped to be more emphatic in our everyday experience with our school kids and learners.
Our classroom experience, vividly depicts where inclusive education is 100% practiced and implemented. It is an avenue that no children are left behind. Our students are all empowered to become accountable for their own learning and ownership of their own learning. We as mentors/teachers guided them on how to think and not what just to think. Despite the diversity of the class, it never became a hindrance to reaching our goals and becoming successful. There is also strong support from families apart from our Admin and leadership teams in making teaching-learning happen in class where every student's needs are addressed.

As an employee for over four years, I appreciate the focus of the organization around its norms of passion, work ethic, and willingness to learn and grow. I have worked in a variety of settings both in education, sales, and food service and I hadn't been surrounded by as many people who are dedicated to the work as I have experienced at MAS. The staff and our families strongly support our vision of providing an excellent education in a safe environment that leads to a successful future. I personally have taught in 6th, 7th, 11th, and 12th grade classrooms in mathematics instruction as well as provide oversight of mathematics instruction for grades 5-12 at our Yale campus. Across all of those classrooms, I have witnessed that those employees who are truly driven by the goal and mission to provide a rich educational experience to all learners, regardless of race, gender, socio-economic, disability, or other identity are the very ones who affect the greatest change in our students.

I am a believer, Mission Achievement and Success Charter School is a solid place for children. I am an employee in the maintenance/ custodial department and on a daily basis I witness the professionalism and dedication from the teaching staff and Administrators from both campuses at MAS. I am proud to say that my granddaughters are elementary students here, and my daughter is a K-1 math teacher. I enjoy watching them grow and learn in such a structured and safe environment. It takes a village to educate a child this is very true at MAS! Teaching middle school kids is not easy but because of the unfailing support of my instructional coach, assistant principal, cool co-teacher, dean and the rest of the leadership, I was able to deliver classroom instruction to the best of my potential. We have a strong team. My experience in the classroom was indeed fun and exciting! Students are always excited to experience Science. They are creative and critical thinkers. We dont settle for less and we always make each day the best day to learn for every student in the classroom. This is the way we deliver classroom instruction. As an educator of this school, working for a few months gave me memorable experiences that value me as an employee. From the time I was hired in 2020, the management stayed true to their commitment in assisting me with all of my pre-employment needs. And upon arrival, I, never for a single day was left out of any support that I would be needing from personality development even to stationery. The professionalism is inspirational as the management will also allow you to perform within a boundless learning curve which only proves how dedicated they are not only in shaping the academe and its workforce. In terms of the overall environment, the facilities are modern, functional and ergonomic. Teamwork and volunteerism among the faculty members is seemingly an embedded culture that makes it easier for the staff to adapt across multiple heritage familiarization. These factors contribute well to the school's goal of maintaining a high level of teaching methods to be delivered to its students.

As the parent of a gifted child, it was extremely helpful to have my child actually challenged. She is a very engaged learning and she loves her science classes and her math class. Her teachers do a great job letting us know how she is progressing and when she is struggling.

My daughter is also an athlete and MAS not only does not have homework so she can focus on life outside of school she also was able to participate in the school teams as well.

We love MAS.

We enrolled our kiddo to receive the IEP support MAS offered. A year and a half later, we get an update that they haven't been IEP learning for almost a year and didn't bother updating us.
The lack of communication between teachers is poor and dealing with a non-responsive principal was the straw that broke the camel's back.
The recognition of success has failed our expectations and we have moved our kiddo to an APS and they are doing a much better job.

They listen but don't hear parent concerns. They don't let them wear any jacket through the winter. They serve junk food for breakfast. They make you sign for breakfast even thought the child is not eating at school. this may be illigal, They give the students snacks before leaving school, ruins dinner. They don't have security on the back gate. You child may use the bathroom in his pants if there is not one to walk him over, this happened to mine. teaches no independence. The teachers look like kids the way they dress, the students look more professional. If you mention any of this they retaliate against you personally. by making you getting down to sign in before the school start time. NO SCIENCE CLASSES, acedemic scores for my child did not move up after first quarter because I had him tested at sylvan before and after. I have tried to contact the main principle who is at the other location and she just shoots my e-mail back down because she's too busy.

My belief is that this school is well lead by upper administration. Teachers are held accountable. Very strong on pushing academics. The day is 8 hours long. 5 days a week.. My son is 8 and going on his 3rd year there. . The down side is there is no recess for kids to let their energy out. They hold it indoors and its called structure play time. Over all its a good charter school.
