Coyote Willow is the best school in Albuquerque! The curriculum is rigorous and promotes critical thinking. The unique aspect of partial homeschooling has made me a real partner in my kids learning. Every teacher we have had has a wide depth of knowledge and supports my child and me in our educational journey. I highly recommend Coyote Willow!

Coyote Willow Family School offers a very unique structure for schooling that our really benefits our family! That being said, I recognize that the distinctive framework at CWFS may not be for everyone. Family school is designed to welcome the parent in as a co-teacher and relies heavily on parental engagement with their kid(s) to be successful. There are many opportunities throughout the year for parents attend trainings (annual curriculum night, annual in-depth math classes, monthly parent meetings, and other supplemental help), which provide us with the skills we need to facilitate the home school portion. Because of the level of engagement required by parents, there is a bit of a learning curve. It has taken us some time to adjust to the style and language utilized throughout the school. But my kids are excited about what they are learning in class and are held to a high standard of performance and behavior, all of which is producing students who are curious, willing to engage most topics, and performing at a high academic level. Every school has its ups and downs, but we are very thankful to be a part of this one!

I love this school! To start, the academics are challenging and I know my kids are going to be encouraged to push themselves. At the same time, the teachers and administration are reasonable. They take into consideration each students ability and circumstances. The are placed at their individual level for math and ELA. The way the curriculum approaches subjects and intertwines them throughout different modes of learning fosters growth. The students can see how one subjects connects to another. I really appreciate how the administration is constantly seeking ways to improve and they solicit the students feedback in how to do so. It is an empowering learning environment.

Coyote Willow is a great school if you are looking to partner with educators and have time to work with your student on home school materials. Our child started here in kindergarten and this set a great foundation for his academic career. They are critical thinking focused and have high expectations for students in their program. I also appreciate that the middle school environment feels very safe and comfortable for my child and for me as a parent.

I taught at Coyote Willow for 5 years. There is very specific curriculum that teachers at CWFS are trained to teach students daily in the classroom, as well as to parents in monthly parent meetings. Work expected of students is purposeful and always has utility when curriculum is followed properly. Teachers are trained continuously to ensure practices follow guidelines, but at times this is not followed by every teacher as it should be and this can cause issues in that specific learning community. As a teacher who has trained in the areas of general education, gifted education, and special education curriculums, I see family school as an amazing place where it is exciting to learn in an engaging, and dynamic environment that is tailored to meet the needs of each individual student.

Coyote Willow provides a challenging, dynamic environment for parents who want to engage in partial homeschooling. We have been so impressed with the quality of differentiation for both of our kids-- one whom requires special education supports, and one who receives meaningful challenges for their gifted needs. The classroom environment runs on so much creativity and excitement. Every day, our kids come home excited to talk about their learning. I feel meaningfully involved as a parent, and have always felt listened to and respected by our teachers and the administration. I think that partial homeschooling might not be for everyone-- it takes time and organization at home and an overall open-minded attitude. But we are so happy we found this school!

Countless math worksheets. No differentiation for gifted students. Too much homework (especially meaningless homework) and no support for students or families other than being told to follow the rules.
