Had the worst experience, to the point that I don't recommend this school to my family, friends, and community. Since the first day there have been issues. I've tried to understand that there are a lot of kids and different behavior. The staff doesn't know how to control the kids in the class, nor how to separate there emotions from the kids that are kindergarten. From my experience with the kindergarten, and school staff. They don't know how to be a school and work with parents that don't have a village to help. I definitely don't recommend this school I will be unenrolling my child from this setting.

On the first day of school the nurse that was in charge of the kindergarten in the morning, had lost my child and never went to look for her. The other staff had no clue and we're not worried about looking for her. The receptionist came running out the door like she was ready to fight I was only there to pick me kid up and she was ignoring me and causing a situation that never had to happen. I just wanted me kid and leave without talking. She brought the nurse and at that point I felt like I was going to get assaulted because I'm here to check my kid out and leave. But they were not bringing me my kid not telling me where she was. I felt like they kidnapped my child, and I feel verbally attacked. From the start the staff at this school have horrible communication towards parents. I've heard them yell at parents and be disrespectful towards multiple students and parents

I wish I had something positive to say about the school, but unfortunately I do not!
We have experienced bullying with my son from staff members. Telling him that theyre going to buy him a belt and other comments that they have made to him. I understand that there is a dress code and he is in dress code. He may sag his pants a little, but he does pull them up when he is told. My son got in trouble at the beginning of the year with another student. He defended himself and of course my son got in trouble so he has to get checked every morning by staff. The last couple times that he was checked, Staff member lifted up his shirt where all of his stomach was showing. Also went to drink water, and she also wiped the water from his lip with her sweater! That is very inappropriate!! I brought it to this principles attention. I still have not heard anything back about what was done or if it was even being looked into. The ladies ladies in the front office seem to be very close so I very much doubt that anything will happen about this.

Many teachers give unfair treatment to children they like or they dislike.
Most staff didnt know how to handle the class when out of control
Teachers gave unfair punishment and blamed students without reasons
Teachers didnt know how to teach good and fair

I've been a Solare team member for over a year - the school offers a safe and caring environment while providing a high-quality education. The school consistently out-performs the other schools in the south valley - see NM Vistas - and has a really wonderful and kind staff. I strongly recommend this school for any K-8 student in the South Valley.

Im writing this review to express my concerns about Solare Collegiate Charter School. There has been racial discrimination that negatively impact students of other ethnicities. For example, my son had a difference between him and another students of a different ethnicity both students exchanged words back and forth . But my son was the only one getting reprimanded.
According to the founder of Solare being called a Mexican is not an offense but my son responding back to the other student with a similar answer was indeed an offense resulting in suspension. According to the school they have zero tolerance of discriminatory language but clearly it doesnt work both ways. I agree that No, being called a "Mexican" is not racial; it's a nationality. However, the context in which it's used matters. If someone uses "Mexican" as a way to stereotype, discriminate, or make assumptions based on race or ethnicity, it is considered offensive or prejudiced.
I asked the school administrator/founder to give booth students an equal consequence but immediately was shut down with me personally as a mother thinks its offensive if my child gets discriminated The founder talked to me like if I wasnt a mother as well getting offended that my child was discriminated during school hours and nothing was done to defense him. I believe that personal preference where chosen on the way that my child got disciplined vs the other student being able to walk away with zero consequences.
This creates a hostile environment that affects students' well-being and academic success. I believe the school should implement better training for staff on diversity and inclusion and establish clear policies against discrimination. Its important for all students to feel safe and valued. I hope this review encourages others to advocate for change.

Horrible school!
My little brother struggles with a ton of bullying at this school. I care for my brother when my mother is busy and my mom has been fighting with this school to do something about the bullying and instead they consistently put my brother in ISS when he defends himself! My brother has also reported numerous times that teachers seem to pick on him for "not doing work" or "talking". We've held a confrence and the teacher we held it with said he missed a lot of work and put a stack of work down the he supposedly missed. The kicker is half of it wasn't his! It was another students work with the students name still on the papers. How this school handles situations is beyond me. Students have also threatend each other with guns and I've seen nothing being done about it because "no one was actually hurt." Do not send your child to this school.

I am a parent of child who started school here in 2023. I will be honest, it was a little rough in the beginning. As a parent, I am responsible for my child. So, I went right to the school for answers and resolution. I had a call within 48 hours from the school and a meeting within a week with the Principal and other leadership of the school. The meeting was professional, yet personable, they listened to what I had to say. They understood my concerns and took action. The behavior was immediately rectified and I have developed a good relationship with the school staff. Of course, no school or school staff can make every person in the school happy. That should come from within and usually starts in the family home. If you are expecting a school to do everything for your child and you have little to no interaction to what your child is learning or being a part of, you are part of the problem in our society and aid in failing our youth. No child is perfect, no parent is perfect, no school environment is perfect but if you care about your child, you should be present in all they are dealing with in school and stay in communication with the school to give them an opportunity to address your concerns. Over all, this is a great school for learning and growth. They actually care about my child's education and well being, like I do.

THIS SCHOOL SUCKED. And this isn't a bad student talking, I had straight A's. The kids are jerks, they never listen, they wanna kill you for the smallest thing! I was miserable. The principle talked behind parents backs and talked bad about them, she always says all of the great things that she is going to do but doesn't work on what needs to be focused on in the present. For all of my 3 years there we almost never got a class finished. I am in a MUCH better school now. All of my friends and family hated that school and rightfully so. The worst experience of my life. TURN BACK WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!! :(
