This school had quite the impact on me. This school showed me how to be a good listener and taught me how to be on task with my work. This school had me on top of all my work. Yes I'd slack here and there but that school taught me to be strong when it comes to my education, taught me to never give up. This school taught me to get back up and keep going, to never fail. This school was only part of my life for 6 months but sheesh did it give a big impact. This school is so on top of the education, that I wish i could go back just to experience the education once more. This school showed me that my education is important, but at the same time wouldn't stress me out with the work. Just don't let your work pile up because then that's when it becomes stressful. Other than that if you're an A+ student, I would highly recommend this school. -Abigale Cowgill (16)

Terrible experience with this school. If you child has any type of special needs or struggles in school this is not the school for you! Steer clear! I have tried to work with this school for years and they continue to disappoint. I have a child who has special needs and the school failed to inform me what options we had even though I asked the main office and the counselors office several times! Finally, after my own research, I found what we needed to do but the school really dropped the ball in helping us. My child also has health issues that affect decision making and other areas of everyday life and was suspended over something that was not done in school and also had nothing to do with the school. My child had never even so much as been in trouble in school before.
Also, just as another reviewer stated a teacher told one of my children that they would only amount to being a drug dealer when they grow up! When this brought up to the school they said they would speak to this teacher and no other reprimands although this teacher has a history of speaking to the kids in this manner. However, they did want to give detention to my child for being disrespectful and talking in her class, well I do not see how you expect the children to respect a teacher to behaves in a manner. A counselor stated that it was probably the teachers way of trying to inspire the kid the way a coach would when yelling at the team! Are you kidding me?

My daughter attends this school and I am impressed by staffs involvement in helping students succeed. We have been blessed by fantastic teachers who are also mentors.

Run - do not walk - away from this school. One of my children graduated from this school, but only because the state lifted the requirement that students were required to pass the SBA test in order to graduate...again for the third or fourth year in a row because so many regular education kids couldn't pass it. He had special needs and an IEP, which was constantly ignored. When he turned 18, he was told that his parents no longer needed to be involved in his education, and then proceeded to actively ignore parental requests for an emergency IEP. He was told he would amount to nothing more than a janitor by a teacher; all he had to do was show up to class and they would pass him; and that he could live perfectly well on minimum wage by his social counselor. I have two more children who are in this school's district: one with special needs and one without. We will be moving to another state with better schools to get away from this mess.

I would have rated it good, but because of all the negative 1 star complaints I put a 5. My son is a senior with a 4.3 GPA, ran cross country, guitar all stater; my daughter is a Freshmen who is enjoying Cibola and is looking forward to her Sophomore year. The school is what you make it. Get involved!!!

As a mom to upcoming freshman who will be attending Cibola High School coming up in this Fall 2015 and I won't let any negative ratings affect with the decisions. I prefer to see it with my own eyes regarding with the educations. If there is any problems, then it can request a transfer to another high school.

Worst school ever. The school is more focused on testing, testing and testing the children to death and not teaching the materials. Good teachers are few and far between. My son went from being an honors student to failing at this school. Very teacher orientated rather than student orientated.

In three states and four high schools, Cibola was by far the very worst high school our child ever attended. To say that the teachers are centered around themselves rather than the students is an understatement. It is a school of the teachers, by the teachers, and for the teachers. Your student's education is far down on the list of school priorities. In fact, several teachers actually have a vested interest in your child failing. We could get absolutely no help for our child and ultimately pulled our child from the school. If you need a great high school near Albuquerque, move to Rio Rancho and attend Rio Rancho High School! Cibola is just another inner-city concrete prison, with the least caring administration we have ever encountered. If you send your child there, you do so at the risk of your child's education. If we could give this school and its teachers zero stars, we would.

Terrible school. Other comment is correct...very teacher centered, rather than student centered. If you go to the staff with a concern, you will be made to feel like YOU are the one with the problem. Principal is rude. This school is overcrowded and the kids aren't welcoming to newcomers.

Priorities are wrong...it is teacher centered rather than student centered. If your child has a learning disability or needs special help...don't expect much support.
