Teachers have the flexibility to do what works best with the dynamics of their class. Also, if kids are busy with extracurricular activities, there is some leeway in allowing them to complete their work on the next day.

The talent level of the staff at this school is the highest Ive ever seen and weve lived in a lot of different places.

Our experience has been very positive. We have three kids in this school and Ive absolutely loved all of their teachers. I also appreciate that they have tremendously different styles but they have all been amazing. There are a lot of parents who are involved at the school, making it an even better place. It is also one of the elementary schools in the area that has a wide range of after school activities.

My daughter's first grade teacher Mrs. Osburn is great. We moved from Washington and were a little worried about finding a good school for my daughter. Mrs. Osburn keeps the parents posted about what's going on in class by an app called Remind. I get news update all the time and the teacher responds to my texts immediately. The front desk ladies are friendly and helpful. And my daughter's math improved in MLK.

The school is too crowded. In first grade each class has 27-28 kids and no aide. It's too much for each teacher and they aren't able to focus on teaching, but instead crowd control.

My son moved from another school in the district (which was a horrible start to his public school experience... kindergarten was a nightmare) as he began first grade. What a difference a good teacher makes. I am very impressed with the staff thus far and am looking forward to more growth as we start 3rd grade. My son has some behavioral obstacles and every few months we get closer to figuring out the best ways to overcome them... hopefully this year they are snuffed out permanently... thanks in great part to the efforts of the MLK staff!

I was immediately dissatisfied with the entire staff. The general attitude was negative, from the office to the principal to the teachers. There was more willingness to criticize and punish my children than there was to assist them in resolving their issues. My children never has behavior issues until they got to MLK. My daughter, who had always been enthusiastic about school no longer wants to go. Her self esteem has plummeted in the three months she has been there.

My daughter is in 2nd grade at MLK and has gone here since she was in kindergarten. I have loved all her teachers; they helped get her the help that she had needed for her reading. I also loved both of her reading teachers and the reading program. They even offered us help with some family problems.
