My 5th child is at Hoover, 5 out of 5 now. Middle school years are some rough years in life in general but we have had a great experience at Hoover. The administration is excellent and our kids have teachers they will never forget! Such a positive impact.

Middle school can be a tough time for a lot of kids, so when we were deciding where to send ours, we wanted a school where theyd feel seen and supported. Thats what weve found at Hoover.

Its a small school, which means the principal and staff actually get to know the students. Ms. Sanchez, the principal, knows every kid by name, and not just the easy ones. Ive seen her handle difficult situations with calm and care, setting boundaries in a way that earns respect rather than just enforcing rules. That matters to me.

One thing that stands out is how teachers connect with kids. Even the ones who dont have your child in class will learn their name, check in, or encourage them. It feels like people are paying attention, which isnt something you always get at this age.

Hoover does have a mixed reputation, and Ive read some of the negative reviews. I think its important to say that a lot of the students who come here are still learning how to manage themselves. And yes, some come with challenges. But Ive seen firsthand how hard the staff work to support all of them. They dont give up on kids, even when it would probably be easier to.

Rebecca Sanchez is a condescending lady with 0 respect for parents or students. Her attitude escalates situations both with parents and teachers. If she is still the principal I would avoid this middle school at all costs.

Weve had an incredible experience at Hoover Middle School over the past four years. The teachers are truly outstandingdedicated, passionate, and always going the extra mile to support their students. They create a welcoming and engaging learning environment that has helped our kids grow academically and personally.

The administration is just as impressivesupportive, approachable, and always looking for ways to enhance the school experience for both students and families. They foster a strong sense of community and truly care about each childs success. They make a huge effort to know the kids and you can see the difference it makes in how they act.

Hoover is a school that values education, inclusivity, and student well-being. Weve seen firsthand how much the staff invests in helping students thrive, and we couldnt be happier with our choice. If youre considering Hoover for your child, know that they will be in great hands!

Indifferent teachers/administrators create indifferent students. That's all you need to know about this school and overall APS district. Something is terribly wrong with a school/district when a straight A student returns home every night complaining about how bad the teachers are. Parent complaints are always met with the same tired excuses. One more reason to home school.

Ive had three kids attend Hoover. Principal Sanchez started there our first year. From the time my first child started there until now, Hoover has really turned around. She is a great leader. The teachers are passionate and disciplined. Im confident that my child is safe and fully supported.

As a teacher at this school and a parent of a student, I decided to write a review that reflects how amazing Hoover is. Many of these reviews are outdated and don't reflect what I have seen and experienced in the past two years that I have been here. I get the sense that only the negative comments rise to the top when there are many positive things about this institution. I am a relative newbie to Hoover, but I have 22 years of teaching experience so hopefully this review will more accurately communicate what I have seen since moving here. Hoover has an amazing and dedicated staff of experienced teachers, most of whom have been teaching for decades and are experts in their field. These adults truly care for the students and are committed to ensuring kids leave with a strong foundation in their education before we send them off to high school. They work against many odds and understand that (especially after the pandemic) students face many challenges. From a parental perspective, when I started working here I immediately decided that I wanted to bring my child here, as well. In fact, there are many parent/teachers who work here and have their children at this school. To me, this was a good sign. The administration is strong and united in their handling of the operations of the school. The principal is friendly but firm and I come to work every day knowing that she supports me and my students. We have excellent parents, as well. We have an active and committed PFO that supports both teachers and students. I know that no school is perfect, but I am proud to be a teacher and a parent at Hoover. I know that many of our parents/students feel the same way. They just may not think to post it on social media or a review site. Good or bad, it would be good for people to share their experiences. The good reviews make us feel like we're doing something right, and the bad reviews make us strive to do better.

We have been overall happy with the school. My daughter's teachers have been attentive and responses to her and myself. I feel they truly want her to succeed. As for bullying, she was involved in a situation and they handled it quickly and defused the situation.

I believe the teachers are doing a good job and sincerely care about the education and welfare of students, but certain school administrators do not support student and staff needs equally and fairly. Some administrative and support staff left Hoover and sought positions elsewhere.

I am a parent of a child who attends Hoover. The school is smaller in numbers compared to other schools which means more attention for my child. There are also lots of extracurricular activities to keep my child busy.

I am a parent of a student who attends Hoover and my child is doing great at this school. The special education department is great. The staff and teachers really care about the students. It also a smaller school and feels more comfortable. I saw the comments below but they are from 2012. They are 4 years old and a lot has changed.

I am currently a student at Hoover. This school is terrible. The teachers are okay but administration is awful. They're terrible and all they care about is test scores. Kids smoke in the bathroom, the bathrooms are tagged and torn up beyond belief. Not to forget the kids are ghetto and rude. Kids scream out profanity in the halls and during class. The counslers are amazing and very helpful. I cannot wait till I am out of here

I Honestly Can't Stand Going To Hoover . The Kids Scream Profanity In The Classrooms @ The Teachers And All That Gets Done Is The Get There Agenda Signed BIG WOOP . Its Mad House. I love How Everyone Says Its A FIne School Its Not Really Were Constantly On The News For Our Numerous Fights . Hoover Is GHETO And The Admissistradors Say There Not Lible For Anything SO If U Get Ur Phone Stolen ... Fat Chance Any One is Going To Do Anything To Get Ur Stuff Back !

We are on the PFO and the principal, Kathy Alexander, cares about nothing but test scores. While test scores are important, there is more to raising young adolescents than this. As a direct result of her vision, discipline is not effectively enforced and school activities--sports, clubs, fundraisers, socials--are SEVERELY lacking. It is all work, and no enjoyment (which is also important at this age). Furthermore, the principal's tyrannical dictatorship of the PFO has turned parental input into an exercise in futility. Some of the teachers have been quite inspirational for my child, but one concern is homework--there is not enough of a challenge provided to the students. According to my child, each teacher assumes the other is giving the student enough homework, so that no teacher actually assigns ANY. What?!? What happened to 1-2 hours/day of homework that I had growing up? This school may be a 9 for NM, but it would be a 6 in all of the other 3 states I've lived in.

Chaos! no discipline. Teachers in this schools district opt to send their kids to private or transfer out instead of sending them here. I have sent 2 through Hoover and they were both honors students. They have both made me promise that I will not send our 3rd little one to Hoover. Teachers have no support in disciplining from the Principal.
