Worst school on the planet earth. Everyone here has issues. Don’t even get me started on the principles and front office ladies. So disrespectful. Rules are very degrading towards growing up teenagers. Staff has no emotional connection towards anyone. Bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad school. Save your kids while you have the chance.

Very disappointed and surprised with how rude the administrative office staff person was when I was trying to find out information about my child's schedule, having to talk to her through the intercom outside the school building, she was very condescending, rude and unprofessional; so uncalled for.

My daughter just transferred to this school and so far it’s been horrible! Poor communication between the school/parent. Teachers and Staff we have dealt with have no compassion and like to pick on a student instead of helping them or offering after school tutoring. Seriously considering homeschooling my child.

My daughter and son both went here and we loved it. The staff was incredible and really went out of their way to assist with our child who has some struggles and is on an IEP. It meant a lot to us that they were willing to go the extra mile to help her be successful

Shifting policies mid-year between the district and the school make it hard for students and parents to keep up with what the current standard is for homework and make-up work.

I disagree with this statement. There appears to be very little effort from the school in building genuinely good students. My child reports home with stories of bullying, fighting, vaping in the bathrooms, and some pretty unacceptable behavior from students. She rarely reports that students are being caught or punished for these activities.
There is also very little effort made to actually prepare students for the onslaught of coursework. They're left to figure out their own ways to cope. When you call the school out on it, they say they work with students on preparedness and accountability, but we've not seen or experienced that in the 2 years my child has been a student here.

Unfortunately, I don't feel there is effective leadership at this school. Regular and standard communication, and message consistency across all student and parent resources - Powerschool, MVMS Website, Google Classroom, Class Dojo, etc. is severely lacking.

I think establishing a "learning difference" with the administrative staff immediately upon enrollment would be most helpful. In our experience, the staff didn't recognize a "learning difference" with my child, but they were responsive and helpful when we requested a classroom switch which unknowingly helped with my child's "learning difference".

I'm thankful we're only at MVMS for 3 years. The lack of communication from staff, teachers teaching to the VARIOUS standardized tests rather than student learning, uninterested (?) administration, and ever-shifting priorities for students makes me hope Cleveland High School will have dialed-in some of these issues for the incoming high schoolers.

My son attended for 1/2 of his 7th grade year and all of 8th. I feel the communication between school in general needs improvement. The students and teachers were extremely friendly and welcomed him mid 7th grade year. I did not get a sense of strong character or student growth and few teachers showed passion for the education of students.

Not impressed with this school. There is an extreme lack of communication from the teachers and staff. Not to mention the number of school fights there have been in just this school year alone...one fight resulted in a student being cut with a box cutter by another student. The parent pick up lane is a nightmare and it doesn't seem like there is ever any staff out there to help regulate it.

I agree with the last two reviews. MVMS is the third RRPS school that I have had children attend. Many, but not all, staff members I've encountered have been too defensive, too quick. MVMS seems to utilize this approach as their standard protocol. Some of the administrative staff are unpleasant and the principal is proficient at being condescending and saccharine sweet at once. This may sound harsh but is the opinion of many. I also agree with the post about the well overused line about 900 students etc. We parents too are burning our candles at both ends; please stop complaining, your students preparedness and social-economic status is much better than the NM average.

I'm a parent of a 3.85 GPA student. MVMS is safe and clean. Most kids attending are middle/upper middle class and prepared to learn. The problem is w/administration, starting at the top. My one/only interaction w/the principal was down right rude. At first I thought she had mistaken me for someone she knew by her actions when in fact having never met/spoke to her. I didn't even know she was the principal until I asked her who she was after she made a snide/unprofessional comment within the first 10 secs. of meeting. She, along with many teachers are quick to mention they have 900 students to deal with. Really, most professionals are in the same boast, we get it, don't use it as a crutch. Also, many teachers are quick to point out that class work/communications are available online (this phrase is used as though it's their collective first line of "defense"). However, good luck sorting through all the different online classroom page layouts and getting access to online progress updates. Not an easy endeavor. Parents need concise, uniformed data. We know of a number of kids who have transferred out due to staff indifference. Overall, OK school but warrants 3 stars realistically.

I moved here from Dallas, Texas and went to eagle ridge. I didn't like eagle ridge because they have a bad academic and discipline program so I transferred to mountain view and it's the closest middle school in rio rancho, new Mexico to Texas. It's great! I get challenged in academics and the discipline system actually makes sense!
