Run....don't walk...to another school. We had the unfortunately experience of being forced to attend the school secondary to a court order. Most teachers were parents of other kids at the school. The lack of training was evident. This is radical right wing evangelical Christian church which is attended by the president of the national right to life group. If you're of the ilk, you'll get on fine with the sub par teaching and Christian nationalist philosophy. But if your are not, run (don't walk) somewhere else

I would not recommend this school ever! The new principal that is taking over next school year is not experienced for the principal position. He does not qualify to be a middle school teacher. He is inappropriate with the students and does not conduct himself as a Christian leader should. This school was the best in Albuquerque years ago, but not anymore. Sad to say.

We wanted a school for our son that would put God at the center of his education and where he would be safe physically and spiritually. Immanuel Lutheran School provides all of that with small class sizes, an enclosed campus, and daily inclusion of Christ and scripture by teachers guided by a well-formed theology. ILS staff are communicative and genuinely care about putting us at ease regarding our son’s education and welfare. I know he is in good hands when I drop him off, and the questions he asks me after school prove the growth ILS encourages in him.

My daughter is in the kindergarten class and has been attending the school since she was 3. I've always appreciated how much the school keeps the parents involved and up to date with my child's studies and how she is doing in school. We get weekly emails from her teacher which is also greatly appreciated. The school has small class sizes and constantly has after school activities to keep students and parents involved. Would highly recommend.

My daughter attended the preschool at Immanuel for 3 years. I feel because of her time and experience in the preschool that she is quite advanced socially and academically. In her short time there, Immanuel has gifted her with a deep love and trust in God, a community that feels safe and welcoming, a passionate love for school and learning which will set her up for a bright and successful future. She is currently enrolled in the Kindergarten and loves it. We have plans to remain at Immanuel through 8th grade if possible and are grateful to be part of this school. I would give my best recommendation to anyone looking for a quality, affordable, Christian education in Albuquerque.

My kids started attending Immanuel in September. I’m extremely happy with the school. My kids are excited to go to school and they are loving their school. It’s nice to see my kids excited about school again. The school is working with my children that are struggling. They truly want children to succeed. The teachers are amazing and my kids feel like their teachers care about them. This is a fantastic school.

Best school in Albuquerque. Caring staff, challenging curriculum and a safe environment. We enrolled our son there when during Covid because we both work and Immanuel had in person learning throughout the pandemic. We decided to try APS this year, what a mistake. Unsafe and curriculum that our son learned two years ago at Immanuel. We reenrolled our child at Immanuel and he is once again happy, challenged, loved and safe. Immanuel is also very affordable and they even have extra curricular activities!

Im treated terribly all the time by almost all the girls and boys until they need Spanish answers since my mom is Panamanian and I learned the language from her. Also the Spanish teacher that we currently have is a terrible teacher professionally. She has flashed some of my fellow classmates and tries to force what she thinks is right and wrong on us.I have been accused of plagiarism wrongly two times and she told me if I turned it in for a third time I would get a lower grade then not turning it in at all. Even when she got proved wrong in front of the entire class many of us still have plagiarism on our records.

I hate it there I feel out of place in my own classroom. I'm they're cliam to diversity until I graduate. They did not provide me with a smooth transition from public to private. They did not offer me any help for the pain they cuased and are cuasing to me as a African American student that is very outnumbered. I can't tell anyone my pain without poeple making fun of me. Please if you are thinking about this school and you have a child like me please consider this review from a actual student and do your reasearch look at the diversity graph don't put your child through years of pain and pick another school the values they say they have don't match the experience I will have to put up with until graduation and when that happens I will run away from there as fast as possible.

The most amazing thing about this school is the love within its walls. They teach the love of Christ and how to love each other. The students really do seem to accept one another and to respect that which makes each young person unique. The treacherous middle school years are just way more pleasant at Immanuel. Each student understands their worth and their potential. They know they are loved by God, by the staff, and by peers. They are challenged academically at Immanuel and that is truly what every child needs. Students will rise to what is expected and they will be beyond ready for high school after graduating from Immanuel. This school is an answer to prayers!!!!

I was looking for a middle school that would be considered "high school prep" in the same way that some high schools are considered "college prep." I have not been disappointed. The curriculum here is challenging for my middle school student, and I have been very impressed with the mix between project work and individual work. I am pleased that although worksheets are used for many subjects, the learning is rounded out by projects (in teams and on your own). It's not easy; it's pretty rigorous. I'm very thankful to have found a school that has such a strong curriculum that is also teaching a Christian worldview. Even more, my child can do sports and many extracurricular activities. I can't believe they can pack all of this into a school the size of ILS, but I am thankful they do!

I attended Immanuel Lutheran School for my elementary and middle school years, and it provided me with not only a wonderful education that has been a strong foundation for continuing my education today, but it also provided me with the foundation for a successful life, and has inspired my strong faith. The teachers are wonderful, and are attentive to every student, Chapel is attended every week, they have before and after care, a wonderful preschool program, sports and extracurricular activities, as well as an excellent and compassionate staff. I was very blessed to have this educational opportunity.

After looking at several middle schools, we decided to enroll our son at Immanuel due to its excellent reputation and personal recommendations by friends. He has thrived there, with ample opportunities for extracurricular sports (which he loves), a challenging yet attainable curriculum, and positive teachers and classmates. I would recommend Immanuel to any family who is looking for a positive, Christian environment, excellent academics, opportunities for extracurricular activities (not just sports are available), and peers who truly seem to be a positive influence on one another.

Immanuel is an amazing school that has helped to mild my children into well rounded, intelligent, respectful kids! Immanuel allows them to learn in a safe environment with small class sizes. Their classes are aimed at preparing them for college even at a young age. They are also able to play sports, learn to play instruments, do art and most importantly learn about Christ!

Immanuel Lutheran School is a very special school. It's a place you feel comfortable leaving your children. The staff and teachers care about each child and really work to make it a loving, strong work environment. The kids seem happy to be at school and comfortable with the teachers and staff. ILS is a top-notch school, with awesome leadership and hardworking, dedicated, inspiring teachers. It's no wonder they were recognized as a Blue Ribbon school. We transferred our daughter here and they truly turned her attitude and her academics around to where she now works hard and wants to do her best.

We found ILS six years ago and the moment we stepped onto the campus we felt the love and homey feeling the staff and students give off. Our kids are learning to be good role models for the future and we feel safe having them in a nurturing and God loving environment. They receive the best education you can ask for with the most dedicated teachers that work very long hours and are always willing to help our children academically. I only wish they had a high school too. God bless this school and church.

My children and now my grandchildren are attending this excellent K-8 grade school. Many graduates of Immanuel School place their children in this or another Lutheran school for the Christian atmosphere as well as the quality education. Immanuel has been nationally recognized.

The staff is dedicated in providing a challenging education to prepare children for their future both as students and servants of Christ. More importantly, Jesus is proclaimed every day, and God's word is taught in truth. My boys went to Immanuel and we now live out of state. They have done remarkably well. After watching the news tonight, our kids (and we) were floored at the local superintendent's interview. We reminded them how lucky they are to be at Immanuel. ILS has been such a blessing to our family. The teachers and staff are loving and committed. No over crowded classrooms where the teacher doesn't know your student! The one on one attention given here is what every child deserves. The teachers' devotion and love for what they do is apparent. The school is Christ centered in its teachings and encourages the children to love and support one another. With beautiful facilities in a likewise beautiful neighborhood, Immanuel is a real gem. What I appreciate most is each teacher's willingness to have open and honest communication about each of my children and how they are progressing and what their individual needs are. Academically it is challenging and fun. The teachers are always looking for new and innovative ways to teach and keep the children interested and engaged. With a friendly and kind atmosphere, we are truly blessed to call Immanuel our second home while we help our children navigate such imperative years. It is truly a blessing.

Immanuel is the best kept secret in town. Tucked away in a older neighborhood it is quite and well kept. I have had two daughters complete middle school at Immanuel and both have been well equipped academically for private college prep high school. The school community is one big loving family and the staff and faculty teach from their soul with their hearts! Students are given a strong Christian foundation and taught principals with integrity and taught to become leaders with character and class. I love ILS and would recommend this school with two thumbs up! The sports program teaches students to play and win and sometimes lose with good sportsmanship and leadership. Immanuel is a very special place where children learn how to live in the world. My daughter feels loved, safe, and academically challenged at ILS. The teachers obviously love their jobs, and their efforts pay off in the students' progress. The principal is a leader who leads by example and holds high standards. I enrolled my son at Immanuel in the 7th grade. He is a geeky introvert and had trouble in the past finding a place to fit in and being accepted for who and how he is. His classmates took him in and made him feel good about himself. He made friends with every single child in that class, boys and girls included. There are so many good things to say about ILS: no-cut sports, strong academics, teachers that really love their kids, these teachers have the gift of teaching and are free to exercise their abilities very effectively. Here's my quote on FB the day after my son's 8th grade graduation:"My son said goodbye to middle school tonight. Feeling melancholy, but that's good. When your kid comes home and says he wishes it wasn't over, you know he had a good time. Thank you Immanuel Lutheran School for giving my son 2 excellent years, a handful of good friends and an excellent foundation for high school and beyond. God bless the freshmen class of 2017."

I really love Immanuel Lutheran School! My sons both went to ILS and received a superb education and great spiritual training as well. I still remember the first time that I visited and felt that sense of family that was so evident all over the campus. I have also enjoyed working here for over a decade now and can't imagine serving anywhere else. The faculty is well-trained, dedicated, and loving. No education is more complete! We were looking for a school that would be large enough to provide amenities and choices for our two boys, but intimate enough to customize a learning program for each child. In our first walk-through, we were greeted by enthusiastic staff, friendly parent volunteers and gregarious children and took away a warm feeling of family. Many of the teachers have children in the program and some of the parents are graduates of the program. Mr. Angell says goodbye to each child by name at the end of the day. And, on top of what we feel is a strong educational program (notably one of two schools to be awarded "Blue Ribbon" that year), our children are being taught a spiritual foundation that is full of respect, love, consideration, faith and hope for the future. We look forward to watching our boys continue to grow in this program.

As a relatively new member of the Immanuel faculty, I can say that I was very excited to join a such a dedicated and caring staff. I have been welcomed and mentored by my principal and colleagues. Immanuel is my home. My family moved to Albuquerque in 1999 and I immediately began going to the school and church. I loved the middle school and the majority of the teachers that I had are still there. They are fantastic, welcoming and help to challenge you intellectually. By the time I reached high school, I was so far advanced, AP classes were a breeze. When I reached college, I went back to Immanuel as a preschool teacher. I taught for two years and miss it everyday that I have left. The family atmosphere is like no other. You will not find a church & school like this one, everyone truly cares and wants the best for each individual student.

This school has it all! Immanuel is a National Blue Ribbon School and creates both a nurturing, caring environment and an exceptional educational experience. The school also offers an extensive list of extracurricular activities, after school clubs, sports and academic competitions. The teachers treat the kids with love and respect and are encouraged to continue to their education in order to keep their classrooms up to date with the newest technology and engaging for their students. I am so glad to have my daughter in such a great school!
