Teachers send home at least 10 pages of math homework. They do not provide rubrics or instructions. The homework is meaningless and does not provide students with the opportunity to think and reflect. They love worksheets.

My son has a visual disability and his teachers consistently violated his IEP and we had to get a lawyer to make sure they followed it.

Posted: May 17, 2019

The principals immediately put my son in in school suspension within the first two weeks of school for small infractions. Instead of taking away recess or giving him lunch detention, they denied him 8 hours of instruction.

The first principal wanted to friends with the teachers instead of their boss. The second principal was unavailable and stand offish. She removed a capable teacher from the classroom and replaced her with a teacher that had to removed from the classroom. My son and his classmates had to talk with the police about it.

His teachers repeated violated my son's IEP.

I emailed the teacher several times about a student and nothing was done.

Terrible. I tried to get my son out of this school because of their attitude towards IEPs. There are too few effective teachers at this school. My son was never able to be in a successful learning environment because too many of teachers are ineffective.

The homework load in third grade was intense and had a lot of anxiety attached to it. Very little went home for parents to understand what was expected of child. Absolutely no regard for a school-life balance especially since the school day ended so late. Every teacher prior to this one gave weekly packets for students to work at own pace except this year. I honestly think allowing students and families to pace and plan their week is a great teaching method.

Kinder-totally organized, had her own website and communicated often, yet had a calm yet enthusiastic demeanor. No longer there

1st-Another calm and enthusiastic demeanor and accommodating to different levels of learning styles and activity level. Very fun, but no longer there.

2nd Both teachers were slightly stressed out and one was not a good fit as she was intolerable to any hyperactivity. Tried to psychoanalyze my child which I thought was very unprofessional and could have had legal ramifications if I was that kind of person. Transferred my son to another class and this teacher was a bit stressed out, soon to retire, but kind and accommodating. My son learned in her class. no longer there

3rd-One teacher was such a screamer and I hoped my son wouldn't be in her class. no longer there. The other teacher was one of those fun, slightly disorganized and didn't really explain concepts to students in ways they could understand. She had a handful of students who performed well below grade level, which must have been challenging. I think my son slightly regressed in her class and any joy for learning was squashed because she was completely intolerable to hyperactivity and both her, principal wanted an IEP to give further accommodation for my son. He was grieving a loss, but apparently that wasn't enough to help him work through his behavior. After the back and forth with this school, I am hoping for a transfer because he has a scarlet letter of one of the "bad kids."
PE teacher-awesome, music teacher-a bit judgmental

The school integrates special ed with entire school body, but really only accommodates severely disabled. The in between students or students who are from a very low-income environment fall through the cracks.

Only if you have an IEP. They tried, but can only legally do so much.

Posted: July 19, 2018

They don't deal with it. Apparently, there no tolerance doesn't work that well.

After principal Wilcox left two years ago, the learning curve of new principal adversely affected this school. She was a good person, but I don't think really cut out for the position. I don't blame the school so much as I do the district and the state's already low educational attainment. NM is plagued with brain drain, poverty, and general lack of value in education and it shows in public school.

The teacher and staff go above and beyond for these kids. Truely feel one of the best elementary school here in albuquerque.

This school does great with children who have sever disabilities. How ever with that being said they are not so good with kindergarden! The teachers are allowed to favor certain children making others feel left out. The test score for this school are horrible! My son is slightly hyper (due to him being a 5 year old!) and they suggested putting him on pills even though I stated more than once that this is not an option!! They are never up to date with schedules and expect way to much of a kindergartner! Acting as if preschool is a requirement!! I am happy to say my son will be going to a new school next year! I am willing to drive across town to make sure my child gets the attention and education he deserves instead of having to be constantly discipline for simply being new to how school works! They do no preparing for them and they don't even celebrate graduations!!! If I could is give zero stars but my kids like the swings!
